Hadith means the sayings of prophet Muhammad (PBUH)and a Muslim can not be a Muslim without believing these sayings

Yes its not in Quran, its in Hadiths.
Hadith is anything related to Prophet Mohammad s.a.w, BUT IT IS NARRATED BY SOME COMPANION. whatever he(prophet) used to do or have said or prophesized. Hadith can be wrong but mostly they are right, and they are not part of Quran, whatever is in Quran is true, but in Hadiths some can be wrong. because Quran is word of God. it is what revealed upon Mohammad pbuh as guidance. So Quran is guidance and word of God.

Muslims have two sources of information:
One and the MOST authentic is rather obviously Quran but the thing is, Quran isn't a book of history or science etc. It's a book of signs so you won't find everything in it. Allah gives us teachings and knowledge through Quran, a lesson on morals, principles, values, other prophets, people of book etc but doesn't go into TOO much detail.
Second are the 'authentic' Ahadees, as in sayings of Hazrat Muhammad(S.A.W) which can be traced back. These are a collection of around 5 to 6 books all of which had been written centuries ago and all of which have sources and evidence so we accept them to be true since Hazrat Muhammad(S.A.W) was the living embodiment of Islam and had gotten a LOT of information from Allah which he told his companions and were in later dates, compiled.
Yes, it's true that Quran doesn't necessarily has any mention of Imam Mehdi but his name can be found in MANY 'authentic' Ahadees, so we believe it to be true.
