It really doesn't, not even trying to be dick to Phil or anything... I cannot hear any difference at all I guess maybe the old one would peak or something and this one doesn't but I'm pretty sure you can replicate that feature via software 🤷♂
You know what's wild? He himself pignotized himself into buying it. He didn't need it, but the more he talked about it, the more he started to want another mic. 😂😂😂 Well, what can you expect from someone whose whole life has been a financial hell.
No idea why he got a new microphone when he doesn't even listen to himself to see the levels and adjustments. But I guess that's why - he convinced himself that he needed it just like the new Gaming PC, Streaming PC, 4K capture card, RGB things. It's all about acting professional so getting a "professional grade mic" is a must!
This man has zero impulse control. He has spent thousands on useless shit the last couple of months. He definitely gets some sort of dopamine hit when he buys shit. Get help Phil
DSP Projecting has a theory that he's trying to make his expenses appear legit to Kat's divorce attorney. I wonder if he's trying to fool the IRS since he admitted he's DownFromTheRafters. But he's just an uber-consumer ultimately.
He has to pretend like the smallest thing is a big deal because he doesn't do any actual work. So he has to make it seem like getting a new mic is some big event
This is written in large font on the Amazon listing: "Dual Output options: Choose between USB C or XLR connections. *LED panel will not illuminate and the Mute function is not supported while connected via XLR."
Also its ridiculous that he sat here doing a 20 minute segment praising himself for getting a new mic and doing a play by play of setting it up. Literally anyone else would barely mention it if they talked about it at all.
Speaking as someone who has worked in production radio and tv I can count on zero fingers the amount of times I’ve wanted my professional XLR equipment to have ridiculous RGBs
The reason you can hear his "sound effects" (lol) now is because he messed with the Gain and Noise Gate settings he was using on his old mic (15:00). Even if he didn't touch the Noise Gate settings (he probably did), if you increase the Gain enough then it will alter how the Gate behaves and make it open more often than it was previously. He could have just done this with his old microphone by either slighting raising the Gain, or lowering the Nose Gate. The only difference between the microphones is the initial sensitivity because the Shure is a dynamic microphone and the old Audio Technica mic was a condenser mic (which is better for picking up background sounds, like his golf claps). The polar patterns are the same for both microphones; they're both cardioid patterns. So, they pick up sounds from the same directions, but the old one picks up more sound overall because the sensitivity. This was a waste of almost $300, even if it is on a payment plan.
I was thinking this too. He tried to blame his fans for "giving him bad advice" when he was messing with the filters and then he didn't know how to revert it back to how he had so I think that's why he's dead set on saying the new one is better.
His audio quality isn't very good, I think if he got an extra Webcam to include a windowed bird view, top of his head view, would have been a better investment for his audiences sake
A dynamic mic should be put on really low gain and sit only 2 inches from your mouth. He has it like 7-8 inches away and has the gain cranked because of that and it sounds way worse than it should.
The extremes of high toned and low toned noises. It's a genuine thing but he explains it so weirdly, I feel like he could have adjusted audio settings for his old mic to stop it cutting out instead of buying a whole new one.
I thought Phil said he was broke after spending all of his money following the Kino Casino arc. He said it himself in one of their livestream chats. Then again, he raised $800 on his Christmas marathon, so... How many microphones has he bought in the last year? Are we up to 3?
What a gigantic tool, of course if you use it in XLR mode it doesn't have any of the fancy features - there's no fucking data line to communicate to the internals to set the lights and all the other stuff Also people who use XLR tend to be professionals/enthusiasts who already have their own mixers and shit that do all the audio adjustments so they DON'T WANT any of the equipment to do extra processing of its own down the chain
In typical DSP fashion, he spends hundreds of dollars on something he doesn't need, that provides no benefit to his audience, and didn't do any research on the product leading to issues. Can't wait to hear him use the new audio as a vector to beg.
Will buy a $600 fight stick but not a $400 mic that is the standard that most streamers use. It sounds worse than the last one. I can hear it clip when he claps. He could make it sound better if he knew how.
So he says RTU doesn't need this setup because he isn't professional but Phil will also say this is him catching up to professional streamers now when he wasn't but he would also always claim he was professional up until this point...he really is the type of guy who thinks now that he has expensive equipment he will put out amazing looking and sounding stuff despite the fact it just isn't ever going to be amazing.
He's going to be so happy paying someone to file all that paperwork just to get a huge tax bill back for all the donations he got. It ain't cheap to be king baby
Anything used more for personal use then business cannot be written off on taxes. I don't recall everything he bought, microphones certainly can be written off, but I'm always seeing people act like anything he puts on camera can be written off when that's not true. Js.

@@snoozeflu if you say that again you will be banned 🤣🤣🤣🤣
he doesn't realize he needs a lifter and to manually adjust the settings to get a better sounding mic... Phil is a 'plug and play' kinda guy 🤣
My headset isn't great, but I actually noticed a drop in his mic quality using the new one. Just me?
Sounds like a $25 mic, not $250.
Because that pre amp is garbage 😂

Any other streamer says in passing “hey guys got a New mic. If it sounds off let me know.” Phil: 30 minute complain/bragging
What the hell is he talking about when he says the previous microphone couldn’t “handle the extremes”?
He needs to downplay what he didn't know about the condenser mic he used to use🙄😒
His voice is extremely nasal. His previous mic was designed for a post-pubescent market so it wasn't capable of handling the extremes he produces.
The extremes of high toned and low toned noises. It's a genuine thing but he explains it so weirdly, I feel like he could have adjusted audio settings for his old mic to stop it cutting out instead of buying a whole new one.
@PointsofData yea, but DSP and critical thinking don't mix.
Fmd this guy has no idea how to use dynamic mics. You can add a gain on OBS for it.
Obviously all the extras are when connected via USB.
