Great video! I live in an apartment, so I keep tons of Iris and canna lilies on my patio. I divide/propagate them every year because they get crowded very quickly. The surplus I either plant or I sell. It works out great!
Great video, so happy I stumbled across it. Amazing garden. Could you repeat the name of the plant you mention around 3:18? Thanks, looking forward to seeing more.
Absolutely loved this video, part 1 and 2!! So much valuable info..shown how easy it is and stories along the way! :-) all of that and still getting to the point without 20mins of talkin first as many videos do! A quick question if possible? I noticed today, my purple bearded iris bulbs (if that's what they're called, large part which are left after the flowers have died) has opened and looks to be full of seeds. Are these infact seeds? And if so, can I plant them next year and expect growth? Thank you!!
Thank you for your comment.....'ive had the same line of dogs for many years, yhey are the oldest line of Jack Russells in the world, going right back to John Peel......the most organic method of Rabbit control I know! Best wishes....Malcolm
The Iris is called Haut les voiles donatodamaso (that's a hell of a name).....it is very easy to grow and quite beautiful. I have no idea what it means but its certaily worth a place in a sunny spot. Best wishes.....Malcolm
Thank you for the information. Looked up and saw the pics of it, beautiful one with ocean blue and yellow. Guess the name "Haut les voiles" might be saying it's like a sailing boat on the ocan... ^^ Will added to my list this fall.
Love your videos on propagation. Very informative and interesting stories as well. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. As a beginner at gardening it helps to have someone share their knowledge. Now for the question. Do you put the iris in the shade to root in their new pots or in the shade?
Glad you liked it....I am trying to improve the sound for future video....thank you for taking the time to comment, its much appreciated....Best wishes....Malcolm
Yes, you can grow from seed but they will not be true to type.....however it can make for interesting discoveries and new cultivars.....it just takes a few years from sowing to flowering......then it might just be a pissy boring thing.....but it does add interest to life! So good luck Wendy.
lol.. big voluptuous woman. Maybe he meant curvaceous? I have a Brazilian Iris in a large clay pot, 2yrs now. Last summer it budded a few flowers, I was amazed! Getting ready to repot or put into the ground, it's looking sad..what is your soil suggestion? I have sandy soil in my yard.
You've made me laugh so hard, I almost peed myself :0))) All I wanted to know is how to divided my irises, and here you are with your little mousy wife story. Thank you for such informative video! Would be lovely to have a better sound.
Wow... that is a beautiful yard you got there... so many flowers and plants everywhere.
