I didnt think i would like the bangle but i love love love it. The coaster looks like it it as abstract painting. Some people would love that. All ways worked well
I absolutely love this one. It is very geode like I was thinking if you did layers of color with resin in between it would give more of a 3d effect and have different dimensions. I am definitely going to try this one.
Oh heck yes!!!! Mama loves this idea!!!! I got sooooo many ideas for this, one being melt the crayon into the coaster then pour resin on top 😱, I will let you know the outcome!!!! Great idea Steve, like always!!!!!!!!!
I notice you often shake when doing fiddly bits. I have the same problems and find it reassuring that it doesn’t stop you from creating some great pieces. Thank you for taking the time and effort to put some experimental videos. Your so kind for making the mistakes so we don’t. Thank you.
I like the colours in the coaster 👍 Have you ever tried to put resin on a piece of glass? I did that, but, you know what? Air bubbles started to appear between the glass and the resin layer after some months. It was a beautiful blue stained glass. I had to sand it a little bit so that the resin stuck to it with no problem. I made square coasters with it 😉👍 Thanks for sharing your videos!
I like the top of the coaster better then the bottom and I actually like the mixed look better then the drop it and let it do its thing look. I never thought about using crayon with epoxy so this was an awesome watch!
Looks great. I suggest big blobs of colours in the coaster if you want to stir a bit and use a toothpick. Swirl rather than mix. Experience: marbled cakes.
I cannot wait to see how this turns out 🕶️ ! :) I was actually concerned that the wax layers would cause separation of the resin in the end product, but they came out beautifully. Thanks for sharing this tip.
I do like the coaster, especially the top. I'm so glad i have a box of old crayons....a rather large box. I am so going to try this! I have some of the gold, copper, and silver ones and I'm hoping they give some good touches. Thanks for this new direction- I'm going to try it today.
I really like how those have turned out. You’re right on the coaster. The top looks best. Maybe swirl with a toothpick to get a finer look but those are all so fun! Much love from another colorblind friend!!
This video was recommended to me by UA-cam. After watching this and several of your other videos, I decided to subscribe. So far, I really liked how you used epsom salt to simulate geode crystals.
When I first decided to dabble in resin craft, I got some two part resin and decided to test a small amount before making something. I didn’t have any molds, so I decided to make a temporary mold by just carving a crater in a block of paraffin. The result was that the resin didn’t set at all and some of the paraffin melted and mixed with some of the resin, resulting in a weird foggy yellowish color and was both chalky and sticky. Paraffin and resin don’t work together.
I like the bottom better on that one you mixed. You could take a bead and drop the melted crayon and make some flowers with a dark center or something. That might be a technique worth practicing more. I am enjoying your channel.
Oh I love the bottom! I think mixing it up looks really cool. The bottom side gives an abstract pond in the bayou vibe. I think spiraling colors in pendants a bit would be great. I've messed with melted crayon before, so I know there's a really small window for anything before it cures, but Im definitely going to experiment with this. I want to try to put things shavings, maybe the resins heat would soften the edges of them a bit and make a cool design.
Woah this showed up in my recommended right on time! I just made an ashtray and a regular tray using melted crayons. They turned out so cool! I have the same molds from amazon! Now all to do is seal my creations and enjoy them :) I love your videos. Experimenting is my favorite thing to do.
What an interesting experiment. I love the red and blue pendant. The white heart I would like to fill more with color, but yes the white does look like flowers. The bangle I'm fond of. The coaster, well....I would choose the bottom, but I agree with you and not stir the crayon w/ the resin. I love these videos and the crazy experiments. I'm trying to think of something clever to mix with resin...but darn, my mind's a blank. Thanks again.
I was amazed by the outcome! Very well done for creating such beautiful pieces of work. I'm in the process of creating crayon jewelry but am having problems with trapped air bubbles when I melt the crayons onto an alloy pendant then sealing it up with resin on top. Would you have any recommendations on what I should seal it up with to avoid trapped air bubbles?
That (and the previous 'grated crayon' video) were very interesting. Before watching, I was concerned the wax would make the bangle etc easier to break. You did not find this?
Another cool experiment! I love how the bangle turned out. Those colors work really great with each other. I think I like what would be the bottom of the coaster better. Both sides look pretty cool, though.
I have an idea of something you could test in resin....makeup!! Like melted lipsticks, eyeshadow, etc. Some makeup is super expensive, but drugstore brands are pretty cheap. And with eyeshadow palettes you get multiple colors you could use!
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Lol I imagine not. It's not as cheap as chalk and stuff but you can get palettes for a buck or two and have several colors 💙💙
I like the bangle idea, it's great & i like both sides of the coaster, stirred in more or even a bit less, it looks wonderful, thanks Luv ;-)., watching your videos is a full-ray of sunshine, even on a darker dreary day.
Woaw everything come out really great!!! ❤️🎉👍 (Edit : I think the coaster looks great.. what fun is you can do anything from swirl the crayon or paint it randomly, it's fun!)
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts you are prolific and the videos are great fun as well as informative. I don't know if you've tried grated soap as snow? If not, it works well, I don't know how it will stand up, but it's beautiful for now.
Do you find that the bangle molds don't fit an adult hands? I've taken to using them for bases and such, because they work quite well, but I have yet to find bangle molds that will fit over an adult's hand.
I like to top... I think crayon thing great Idea for me to do.... I have a new be at the resin art... I have some earring for my sister's christmas grift this year... I have only doing for a few weeks or so... any helpful ideas about mixing colors together would help me out a great deal.
I Adore these crayon pieces!! I think the coaster was stirred once around too much for the backside but the top is pure excellence.. especially when ya think about it being CRAYONS!!!!! Omg yessss and it’s insanely cool that it works! Seems that 2 or 3 seconds with the heat gun would be a similar result without causing damages to the molds as easily. But yahhh 👏👏👏 I think if a little more time was taken to get meticulous in the details, a person on a serious budget would be able to make resin arts with several of your experiments & nobody would ever know how or what they were using to get their results. Definitely another winner!!!! 🕺🕺👑👑😻💯💯💯
Or persons not on a budget 😂😂 Didn’t mean to be uppidy ..just meaning you have shown lots of ways to make it possible to NOT have to buy every single color, luster, tint etc.. and all in good fun!!! I’m still in awe of the chalks myself 😳
This has been a great experiment with even greater results! I love the bangle (I think I like it best of all)! As for the coaster, I don't know -- both sides are equally interesting to me, but I think you're right about not stirring them much or at all next time. Overall, it was a success, and thank you for trying this out! :) Cheers!
Hi, what you do is great ! If I make/create a plate that I don't like, can I modify it ?How can I modify a resin plate ? = put it in the microwave to melt it? In hot water? Or with a paint stripper? Thank you so much.
Neat idea! Unfortunately mica is farmed by 4 year old children in Indonesia, etc., to help provide for the home instead of going to school...just so we can make stuff, and have shiny faces ladies! God Bless
I knew I've been saving the millions of broken crayolas for a reason...im really curious about cheaper, less quality crayons...the waxier ones. Like rose art or dollar TREE brand. They seem to act differently than crayolas in other projects I've done. Wonder how'd they do in resin???
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts I have bought some that will get soft, but not melt like a crayola crayon. Or they will bubble, and turn in to what would be the consistency of a crayola that is almost re-hardened. Even if they are wax, unfortunately.
I love that you do all the crazy things that we as kids would try if we knew about resin back then
When you first mixed it a little it was perfect. I wouldn’t mix it so deeply. Everything came out fabulous though
I loved the way the white crayon looked like flowers. Great experiment mate.
The top of pour on that coaster is definitely more dynamic, deep looking. Love it!
What an interesting experinent. Crayons are fun but fragile. Putting the melted crayon in resin after setting could be fun too.

I loove the fragmented look from the torched one. Very unique❤️
It came out pretty and I like both sides
I really liked the effects that the crayon made in the coaster. And the bangle was lovely! I think i need to make my own.
I make soap and I learned really quickly not to mix too much when I combine colors. So next time just try swirling through once. Great video
Who knew crayon would turn out so nicely in resin. I like the top view of the coaster.

I really like the top of the coaster you like Steve...there's some interesting markings. Gold leaf would really set it off
