The constitutional role of the Vice President is to serve as the presiding officer of the Senate, they have the sole power to cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie in the Senate, and to be ready to assume the presidency in the event the President dies or is unable to perform their duties. Beyond that, their duties are at the discretion of the sitting president- they may serve as advisor to the president, they may be involved in policy, they may represent the administration in place of president (but at the discretion of the president), etc., but it is not their role to set the administration's agenda as VP.

Me too ( Canadian though ) but a bleeding heart progressive person. I would have never thought of myself as a traditionalist or anything. But I like what the Royal Family stands for, giving back to the country and community, realizing the great privilege you have and using that privilege to shine the light and spot on others. That was NOT fluency (obviously rehearsed, inconsistent pronunciation, varied accents). That was Duolingo with, perhaps, practicing with the household staff. Also, she was using an interpreter headset, which she wouldn't need if fluent. She would have been able to speak for more than 60 seconds. AND *IF* she could actually carry on a conversation, albeit simple, it would have been broadcast all over media, instead of having audio blackouts. Fue falso!
If she was fluent in another language in this case Spanish, & not speaking it for a number of years she would have been practicing it prior to the trip. It’s like her English it leaves a lot to be desired

I disagree Neil, president Biden wasn't sidelined by anyone. He did a great job during his tenure as president but he also recognised that the country needed younger candidates to run for office to resonate with the voting public. He is tired and he knows this, for the sake of his country he did the decent thing. The alternative one in the opposition winning office is unthinkable.
