- More than 90 thousand people are now sleeping in schools, cars, parks and on the beach in Lebanon, after three days of intense Israeli air strikes.
The health minister says at least 615 people have been killed since Monday - with more than two thousand injured - and hospitals are already overwhelmed.

It's not that simple. Doctors report that women and children were struck, womens' eyes harmed etc. because these were detonated in public spaces (innocent civilians around, like setting bomb off in subway station - why 2 of the dead are health workers). Also, it's like chopping off legs of prisoners of war or deforming their faces by pouring acid on them - not ethical (outside of rules of warfare). I worked in counter terrorism (capture/kill of Al Qaeda in Iraq). Hezbollah is nothing like Al Qaeda (actively kept ISIS out of Lebanon, are a nationalist militia, is willing to collaborate with their government etc.). Al Qaeda terrorized the local Muslim population (killed Muslim Iraqi first responders, etc.). They were true criminals - however, even in that case the target was always the upper echelon - we weren't looking to do anything to low-income young adults who were poor and being used. The idea of disfiguring them would be super immoral on many levels. It wouldn't have achieved anything either but led to more poverty and only provided more oxygen for anti-government groups.

What happened to them is unjust too. It's that there's 1.9 million displaced Gazans so if a ceasefire could have been reached - it would have made sense to put that in there as a condition (displaced Israelis able to return to their homes) instead of displacing 90,000 more people.

After working several years in Jordan supporting refugee communities most projects closed once the Russia Ukraine war started due to funds validly needing to be redirected to help Ukrainians. However, the need for medicine and livelihood projects for Syrians didn't go away. The humanitarian sector being slashed in Jordan also impacted Jordanians who found themselves unemployed once projects closed. I believe unemployment was at 25% when I left. I'm sure the same is true for Lebanon. Their project funding would have been slashed too after Russia invaded Ukraine. There is simply not funds for the humanitarian crisis this is generating. It's horrific.
The West can't continue to support dictators, terrorists and monarchies living in luxury while their people continue to live in bondage and suffering. Their world is built on a different ideological foundation that leads to inequality and dictatorships. Islamic states are not free and until they change their situations will continue to get worse.
