The Legend of Zelda is one of my favorite video game series of all time. In this video I'll be going over the first game, and analyze the beginning of the legend.
    Thank you for watching.

My favorite Zelda game is the adventure of link. I went to the local video store once a week in 89 trying to rent a copy of it or Mario 2. I got stuck with some stinkers during the wait. Finally got it about 2 months into my visits. Zelda and it's sequel were the talk of recess in elementary school. Zelda led me to picking up Final Fantasy when it came out the next year. My Grandfather passed in 1990 and my mother got a nice inheritance. For Christmas that year I got mega man 2, Zelda 2, bad dudes and Simons quest. My mom had to go through hell toget those. Good times. Rest in peace Mom

I was around 8 to 10 years old when i beat Zelda 2. I still adore it to this day. It’s just a great game. I especially remember beating shadow link. Shit he was hard. How many times did i die fighting him, only my mother knew because i was up till probably past midnight struggling with shadow link but it was worth it. Loved and still love that game.

Yes. I finally finished it a few months ago as a 39 yr old. I played it and gave up so many times.

My fav game of all time. I got it when it came out, I was 9 I think....anyways, I remember taking the instruction manual to school for several days. I could hardly pay attn to my lessons because I was so excited to get home and play again.
Also, fair point Matt on the cryptic nature of the hints, bomb caves, etc. However, back in those days before the internet - there was a lot of chatter on the playground and we just figured it out with what we had. We didn't see this as a major obstacle at the time. Anyone my age agree?

It was released well before 89. Zelda 2 was coming out by than. The original Zelda was made at the same time as super Mario bros. The games share assets. It was released in Japan in 86. By 1989 Zelda had a cartoon, cereal, and tons of other merchandise. I got my NES in 88 and my friend had it almost a year before that. I'm pretty sure it was released in North America around late 87 early 88. Mind you I could be wrong as I'm writing this from memory and this was a long time ago. But I am sure it was old news by 89. It did stay on the Nintendo power chart until the NES was retired in early 95.

It says it was copyrighted in 1986, was it though? Makes you wonder...

"The Legend of Zelda created the RPG genre"
Dungeons & Dragons would like a word.
Also The Legend of Zelda is not an RPG.

Maybe you should have played the redux rather than use a guide.
