We do too! It is so unique and a fun way to bust up scraps.
I love using the Qubes for scraps - I have 4", 8" and 12" so I'm prepared for anything! :)
I love the beautiful quilts here they are amazing. I don't understand the spacing between the dies. Seems like a waste of fabric to use the die that way. Even though it is faster you are wasting so much fabric. I would just bump them up together for better yield. Why didn't they make the die that way? And. why is the die on a slant and not on true grain? I guess there must be a reason.
The way the shapes are placed on the Prairie Star die is to help you better cut a 5 color block in one pass through the cutter. We lay the shapes out by color way, so B & C on the die are your white background color, while shape A are your diamonds and are the 4 other colors. You can find the block assembly instructions on the product page to help better understand the layout :). We set our shapes on a slant as if they were straight on it would give a jarring affect like a car going over a speed bump and the cuts would not be as clean and even as you get when they are angled even laying your fabric with the die shapes they still cut true to grain. Hope that helps!
@@accuquilt Thank for your response. I understand the slight off grain position to help with fraying but I still think the layout needs to be tighter. I don't see how the extra space between the shapes is appropriately beneficial. I can get more shapes out of my fabric if I cut them myself. I place the shapes next to one another and save a lot of fabric. And I can cut as much as 4 layers with my rotary cutter; so I don't think this is something for me.
