When I found the Easter egg of advance Australia I actually almost cried being taken back to a much simpler time to when I was younger and enjoyed being a mindless kid just flying planes for fun in warthunder
@@ZIONOMANIA I do to, back in the day I used to just mindlessly play arcade not sure what I was even doing but I still had fun otherwise and now I'm at a point were warthunder isn't really very fun for me since I fulfilled my childhood dream of having jets so now I lack motivation to grind for stuff

The American town maps being training sites is actually the truth when it comes to the desert city map (the one with the train running through it). At least I'm certain that I remember it being stated when the map was released that it was based on the training facilities that the US and other nations were making during the Cold War to prepare for having to defend against a Red Dawn style scenario.
I thought it was based off of nuclear testing facilities in America where they would build a complete town in the desert to simply bomb it with a nuke to see the effects of the nukes

9:33 actually thats not a U-boat, thats a Japanese submarine, you can tell the difference because a lot of japanese submarines had storage for a small floatplane to be stored, hence the large opening and the catapult system on the bow of it. Fun Fact, Japan also built 3 massive submarines designed to carry 3 specially built diver bomber floatplanes that were made for the specific purpose to attack cities on the west coast, but along with the aircraft being virtually unusable, they arrived too late to do anything

When we had the ability to run around the hangar for the anniversary I walked in front of the inflatable sherman that drives by. It pushed me well outside the hangar, it was hard to stay on but you can be pushed out all the way past the tank shooting range and towards the airfield and dockyard. I found out about the tank pushing thing accidentally and fell off it, but noticed that as long as I was on the road, it would not kick me back, so I actually walked all the way to the airfield, but sadly got kicked right at the end, still nice to know it was possible
9:30 is not actually a U-boot, it appears to be a Japanese I-400, which is so cool to see, as it is actually a Submarine Aircraft carrier, designed upon the orders of Admiral Yamamoto

If you park on a point, cap, and get killed, the trailer will hold the cap for you as if it was an allied vehicle. Wow I don’t think that submarine is a u-boat, I think that’s that one Japanese submarine/aircraft carrier. Yes upon further inspection I can confirm that that is the Japanese i400 which were capable of holding 3 M6A’s in a water tight hanger. Pretty neat
I've never gotten a night battle at that low of a BR, I only get them at 7.7 onwards, because of the occasional Ground Zero battle in the Maus. Even then, my Marder and Leo 1 can handle it.
Those interiors are likely not actually modeled, but rather parallax mapped. This means that it is effectively a texture used to fake 3D simulation inside a place. Games like spider man and use this too Edit: we can actually prove this at 7:46 by looking at the insides from different directions and different windows; if it was modeled, it would show the same room any way you look at it. But since it is parallax mapped, we see a different room from different directions.
In the test drive map , after you go past the tank on the little hill ( not the last one from the line of 4 but the other one on the side with spaa ) the trees just fall over if you touch them and they dont slow you down when you hit them . 3:12, people used to do that back in the day on Hokkaido (Guam island) using the british? west airfield. I first noticed it after chasing a Canberra who managed to yeet into the hangar without me noticing him, confusing the heck out of me.

7:06 that is actually the grozny airport you can find two more one of which is a military airbase north of mozdok the functional helipad and the other three airfields are actual airports in real life and it is a crazy detail
for the terrain thing it’s because the way war thunder’s rendering system works from what i have seen is the things that are far away become simplified to help the frame rate (this was especially visible on red desert once another tanks was about 1km away the texture and geometry of the dunes would get simplified and it would start to look like the tanks were floating and clipping through the ground) so yeah when you simplify the texture and geometry of the ground it happens that tanks end up going under. for ww2 and early jets this isn’t a problem since they don’t have long range weaponry but for some of the first helis and beyond except for the ah-1g. then also when planes start to be able to go really high altitudes quite easily and bring guided munitions this becomes a problem. personally since i easily pull 250fps in the test drive and an average of 190fps in an actual battle i would like to have a setting that turns of the simplification of terrain at range since i have the fps to compensate.
0:11 it's actually not 3D or modeled but it just looks like it. A neat trick called Parallax can show window interiors using just one polygon as if they were 3D.

5:00 There's a reason those guns are there. Back in the early days of ground forces, on the Kursk map those guns would fire at any tank that got close. They were far more accurate than the AI driven tanks that also spawned in maps, and would regularly kill player tanks. Problem was, players were having a hard time killing them at range. To help countering this, before the ability for them to fire at players was changed, it was decided to move the worst offenders outside of their emplacements to make them easier to hit. Portions of this map are just reused Kursk map assets. Since they simply took those locations and effectively 'cut and pasted' them over, the changed positions were never corrected.

1:25 The OH was used as recon and medical transport. The model on the map is a medical helicopter as the two beds on the side. Weirdly tho no red cross is painted on which they would have had. Also the scene around it looks like an Aid station or reference to the show M.A.S.H.
The hide under thing in Staligrad is similar to the weird roofed cap zone in that desert map, i forgot its name. If a good enough bomb falls on top of that roof, the tanks under it can be damaged. fun fact The map Arctic added in Fire n Ice update, has a Ship named Borealis which is a refference to Half Life edit: i wrote this when you mention that on the same map you can see the aurora borealis, thinking that you are just gonna gloss over it
I feel I should point out, the forward heli base as DOES do damage, it's just an insanely small amount per shot, and will take about 10 minutes to shoot down a helicopter point blank.
In the original script write up i had thought that too but after leaving a helicopter overnight in a 6 hour custom what killed me was running out of fuel
@@ZoltanSultan I wonder if it is map-dependent then, since I was doing a little trolling with my Mi-4 on spaceport and ended up having my cooling system damaged and then engine failure through overheating, and my fuselage was turned yellow, but then this was shortly after heli base AA was changed to do no damage, so maybe this was a bug they fixed without any note.
That U-Boat Hull looks very much like Photos/Drawings I've seen of the Japanese I300 Class that Big Hole infront of the Conning Tower was an Aircraft Hangar and would House 3 specially developed Planes.
0:12 This is not a 3d model of the interior these are parallax textures - to put it simply they are specialy made textures that imitate the look of the objets like if they were made 3d in this case the room. You can easly spot it as the angles on each window doesn't add up to the possition of camera (specialy in top right corner). Anyway nice video :)
Have you ever wondered why the cars on Arctic are standing on the street? If you look at one specific convoy there is a car that drove in the ditch and supposedly got stuck, that's why the vehicles behind it got stuck
0:13 I'm mega late but actually this interior is not modelled at all, it's a combination of 2D pictures that are rendered to appear 3D: there's only one polygon there. It's a really interesting shading technique used in videogames and CGI film-making for low-detail interiors where a lot are required simultaneously. Cubic shaders are used in Cities: Skylines and the Spiderman games, and also apparently War Thunder. Some games also use them for details like cobbled paving where bump maps don't provide enough depth.

I used to have Vietnam blocked, but they updated the map and I like it now, so I blocked frozen pass because the spawn camping is offensively over bearing on the map
its funny, I'm using a name mod that changes all the vehicles names into their more realistic and specifc names, but it messes around with the other names of various things around the game, including challenge names, achievements and most of all, some maps. This is how I found out that the map Sun City is actually called Israel.

0:15 you've clearly never flown a Harrier
Lol
7:00 I can confirm, that is a map of the hanger itself as I walked all over it during the anniversary and it lines up perfectly with that map
i have found that at American desert on c point bell in the church rings if you drop bombs near it
I loved the Morse code saying attack D point
The abandoned submarine hull might have been an I-400 class submarine aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy
I didn't expect the two curiosities at the end. Great job
You need to make a part two. One thing on the map Arctic pier I saw what looked to be a downed B-17 when bringing nuke in
" Please rise or remain standing " ... wait ... The video ended ..... When can I sit back down???
1:25 The OH was used as recon and medical transport. The model on the map is a medical helicopter as the two beds on the side. Weirdly tho no red cross is painted on which they would have had. Also the scene around it looks like an Aid station or reference to the show M.A.S.H.
Have to say, I appreciate the ad bar at the bottom of your well, ads. Don't have to rely on "most replayed" at all. Plus good video at that haha.
The brand totally has the power to veto it if they wanted but they don’t mention it so also a positive reflection on them too!
@@ZoltanSultan Very much so, never was bugged by Raid to be honest haha. Never played it myself; they seem reputable compared to other game ads.
The hide under thing in Staligrad is similar to the weird roofed cap zone in that desert map, i forgot its name. If a good enough bomb falls on top of that roof, the tanks under it can be damaged. I had the unwanted surprise of seeing a teammate die to this and also got my tracks destroyed by said bomb
on 9:43 that is not a U-boat, that is an I-400 Japanese submarine aircraft carrier
the morse code was my most favourite, shows that the devs are still humans with humor.
When THAT song played, the memories just flooded me
And the chills running down my spine too
Those were the days...
Nice, thank you for more very useful knowledge I know I will need this
I actually stood up and saluted for the war thunder national anthem. Such a banger (btw I was there when you recorded that bv238, classic 😂)
man when u mentioned the easter egg advance australia and u said "Don't do something stupid" it reminded me so hard to 2and900 man I miss him so bad one of the best WT content creators with his weekly news :(
fun fact
The map Arctic added in Fire n Ice update, has a Ship named Borealis
which is a refference to Half Life
edit: i wrote this when you mention that on the same map you can see the aurora borealis, thinking that you are just gonna gloss over it
I feel I should point out, the forward heli base as DOES do damage, it's just an insanely small amount per shot, and will take about 10 minutes to shoot down a helicopter point blank.
4:30 that's an interesting reference
Banned map is none because I'm a poor
Funny thing, in Polish and French (at least) versions of the game the map is called reunion, not Bourbon island
8:13 Aurora borealis? At this time of year at this time of day in this part of the country, localised entirely within a video game?
that message at the end was
it was nice
thank you zoltan
thank you
That U-Boat Hull looks very much like Photos/Drawings I've seen of the Japanese I300 Class that Big Hole infront of the Conning Tower was an Aircraft Hangar and would House 3 specially developed Planes.
At 4:13, these definitely exist outside of Europe; I remember using one to cross a fence at a Boy Scout backpacking camp in New Mexico some years ago
Btw, the bridge in severesk13 from A to B is bugged, if you pass there with a plane, it will sink about 1 meter and stay there
9:31 not only that but its also one of the infamous Japanese Carrier submarines like the I400 and her sister subs
7:01 It is the test map ! I've walked around it during last "event" and i had this screenshoted, paths are correct
I Found out that the Firefly Mk1 and 5's Second crew members it is labeled as a gunner
well i guess we have to attack the D point
10:55
9:31 that's actually the Japanese I-400 but it's considerably smaller than it's real life counterpart as a game asset
One of the buildings in the Sun City map (the one with the hole) is straight up taken from Warsaw. It's called InterContinental.
0:21 but good luck doing that 💀
Clearly YES. Gajin is inspired by my home island, REUNION island, and i swear, in it's history, that there were never ever a diamond carreer on anything else... It's a shame to destroy that.. Press F for my island respect pls :(
I used to have Vietnam blocked, but they updated the map and I like it now, so I blocked frozen pass because the spawn camping is offensively over bearing on the map
Damn these are cool, especially the Morse code one (discovered by my friends lol)
its funny, I'm using a name mod that changes all the vehicles names into their more realistic and specifc names, but it messes around with the other names of various things around the game, including challenge names, achievements and most of all, some maps. This is how I found out that the map Sun City is actually called Israel.
5:07 its a common thing in Europe, we have a lot of signs pointing to random ahh capitals, in my hometown there is a pole with multiple signs pointing towards like Moscow, Chicago, Berlin, Paris, Washington, Madrid etc.
4:30 it has been a long time since i listend to Hello Internet, but nice to see youre a Tim
The Australian Advance reminded me of our Legend Voice actor From TF2 The Soldier and the song is nice smooth and sad as it reminds of all your Enjoyable times with war thunder when everything was simple
There's a gap on the Sweden map between two concrete walls on to a closed off road. low-tier tanks can get through there, but so can the Pv-kv 2 and 3.
It would be amazing if we could drive everywhere (or sail with amphibious tanks) on the testdrive map 4:45
Can you imagine the lag? All just one connected server.
In the next battles on polar base map, I see myself just vibing at this house.
