Adam: This week it seems like we're on a not quite as dark episode because it's all about Killmonger saving Tony Stark. Peaches: Hang on to your butts, guys. We're getting even darker.
I was severely disappointed by Killmonger's turn. It would have been far more interesting if he'd stayed good and become the second (or even the first) *War Machine,* replacing Tony on the super-hero front lines (or even introduced the older of Tony's non-IM armor--*The Guardsman).* Instead, he's the same old short-sighted, revenge-obsessed, bastard that he's always been. YOU MISSED A MAJOR CHANCE AT PLOT IMPROVEMENT, MARVEL!! All this teaches us is that Sacred Timeline or no, the Original Path is the only Good Path...everything else goes to Shit. Not the idea I think you intended, writers.
Happy: "This sucks, directing an Iron Man movie was supposed to be my job!" I honestly think Killmonger's plan in this one was better than his one in Black Panther. "Palpatining" is the perfect description for it. T'Challa: "it'll get the best of you eventually, on your plane or on ours." Translation: "Someday when you die, I am going to whoop your ass."
the ending felt more like a tribute to chadwick with him as a panther spirt and with what the watcher says about heroes never really leaving us but inspiring the ones to carry on the fight
not so much as outsmart but outplanning everyone. revenge and determination are two things that give good villains an edge against heroes. Zemo for example, he knew hE couldn't defeat the Avengers so he spent all his time making a master plan to take them out from within
He was born with the same intelligence as other Wakandans and he had a lifetime of training to plan this out. He did the same thing as Nemo, make everyone fight and you take out what's left. This would've been amazing in live action and Kilmonger lasted for a couple movies.
And he didn't really outsmart everyone. He had to adjust his plans when Tony figured him out, and next he'll have to contend with Shuri and Pepper releasing the truth.
I'm glad this one came out in the order it did. That was very smart and shows some sensitivity on Marvel's part. If this had been the first or even second T'Challa appearance in the series, I wouldn't be able to handle it. Watching him die, in a coffin, and in the ancestral plane punched me in the gut. Only one more episode with Chadwick I think.
I don't know what's more remarkable, that Erik Killmonger's real superpower is shuckin' n' jivin' or that his exemplary talent at it actually makes him even MORE like Vegeta than ever. Shuck and jive: verb. To act as docile and non-threatening as possible so that the Powers that Be don't put a boot on your neck when they see your talent and intelligence, because they buy your act of having no agency or agenda.

We get it Marvel.. the sacred timeline is sacred for a reason. Cool that they aged down Shuri to really depict it was 2008. So…if Killmonger had not spent 10 more years racking up more knots on his chest….lawd!
Always like the grounded dynamics in the Black Panther content. Really enjoyed Killmonger’s mastermind in this one. I think it would stand out even more had it not come right after the Zombies episode.

The shot of her holding the spear up needs to be on a t-shirt. That is a good image. Maybe have her crying as the background of it. Can see that as an RIP image for Chadwick.
Like you guys, I thought this episode was going to have a bit more levity to it. Turns out we were very wrong 😳. But it did showcase some very smart writing. And I'm actually interested to see where the follow-up episode goes. Personally I think this set-up could easily end with Shuri as Black Panther

One thing about high school English class I hate is how it trained me to over analyze everything, to find hidden meanings and parallels that probably weren’t there intentionally. Anyway here goes: Killmonger = Palpatine, Drones = Droids, US Army = Trade Federation, Wakanda (hidden behind shield) = Otoh Gunga (hidden underwater inside shield), Rhino mounts = Kaadu mounts… idk does that make T'challa = Jar Jar?
I think T'Challa would be closer to Qui-gonn in this case. Wise, not as much of a traditional as some of his high ranking fellows and also killed in action during Ep 1

Tony being the way he was in this episode was intentional. People seem to forget he was an arrogant ass hat before he was stuck in a cave building weapons for terrorists. What changes with Killmonger needed to happen? He has the same backstory and motivation and it works.
