My Brother and I were supposed to go fishing that day but the boat motor would not start so we stayed home, I often wonder if the boat motor started, we may not be here today..
My wife and I took several trips as newly weds to the landing in the summers of 73 and 74. The owners of the marina and store were awesome, very friendly people. The canyon where the flood came from is astoundingly beautiful as is the entire area - a hidden treasure to enjoy
God spared our lives' my wife and I had a reservation at the motel at Nelsons landing. We were to arrive Friday evening September 13th. The flash flood hit Saturday morning on the 14th. On Wednesday I was requested to work Saturday to replace the person that normally worked on Saturday but couldn't due to family problems. Which obviously required me to cancel our reservation. They apologized as they new I had that reservation but they said they had no other option. I needed to thank them as it turned out. The news left us almost in a state of shock.
I went diving there with the x mayor or North Las Vegas, Bud Cleveland. We found a pickup truck, raised it and he had it running 48 hours later! That was 1981.
Jack Dailey was the School Principle at William E. Ferron at the time, I was in that school when this happened.
