- The second half of Rainbow High season 2, here to review, and rip apart. The doll quality has gotten better, the show went real bad real fast. I don't understand how they jam-packed so many characters and had none of them be interesting.

Man that Twitter thread was so sad. Imagine attacking an actual nonbinary person for accidentally misgendering Frankie in one video. Use that energy on people causing actual harm, not innocent people who made a small accident.
The fact that its considered typical Twitter stuff makes it even worse. I doubt that person's never messed up someone's pronouns by accident

@@Vesperad0 they really were, most were attacking them when negative clearly said they never intended to misgender Frankie and they’re used to the G1/G2 Frankie so they accidentally use she/her when referring to Frankie sometimes, but of course people start making it a big deal like “not an excuse to misgender!!!” when negative literally admitted they messed up the pronouns and gave an explanation on why it happened, yet of course people go ahead and say it’s an excuse and then start attacking them when negative themselves is a nonbinary person?

it’s so weird…the shadow high is off because yeah okay, goth rainbow high. why is everyone mean at that school. the desgins are bad and the episodes just contain SO much drama and plot lines i CANNOT keep even the charcaters straight. rainbow high has alot of controversies but also jsut a lot of flaws like that. i really like this show but like…i am so confused and not enjoying it as much. there’s too much drama and information and not enough quality in the charcaters, world building, charcater design, or frankly the writing. like they all said; it’s SO MUCH, and they did give, but it’s also just not enough at all. i just feel like yeah this is cool…i bet the fandom could do this better…
I’m completely colourblind and honestly these dolls look like every other colour pallet to me. I was once deep into a game of Sims when my partner came home and asked me if my sim was meant to be green 😂😂

I’m also colorblind (red-blue) tho they look meh to me in my opinion. But I guess this exposes the basic design of the clothing
I'm not color blind but it's a very common misunderstanding that most people think when people are color blind they can't see any color when most of the time they just can't see certain colors.
And you not being able to see any color is the most rare version of color blindness.

In real life your actions affect the people around you. Both sets of twins played dirty so nether of their schools won. For all the other competitor's, losing your shot at fam, because two shcools worked together in order to get in the Top Three absolute sucks. This resulted may seem unfair too the RH and SH student body at first. But for all the other schools it's justice.
Also The Rainbow Divas behavior is completely unacceptable when it comes to business partners. In this case they failed both their manager Coco Vanderbalt and employer Rainbow High. This will affect future contracts for bad reputation as being unreliable employees. Especially considering Rainbow Vision to be such an important events. If the couldn't be responsible for that, what makes you think they will show up for your event.
I like your analysis
In the end they didn't give the victory to the main schools, even if that's what people wanted to see, in other to tell a more real story, giving consequences to characters actions. I like it
Main characters usually have this plot armor that prevents them from getting consequences from their wrong doing, just because we (the audience) are on their side. I think that's bad, and teaches people they can do whatever they want, and that nothing is unfair as long as it's unfair on your favor

This is a tangent but this is why I respect Sabrina so much for going out on stage and putting on a show for Rainbow Vision even if it was guaranteed that they would still be disqualified. Meline and Ayesha were clearly going to put the blame on Sabrina for the Rainbow Divas breakup and Rainbow high's disqualification from Rainbow Vision. That's why they chose to not do the show rather than just breaking up ten minutes later after they performed. It also seems like Meline would have tried to paint Sabrina as a third rate vocalist who could easily be replaced. It would be career ending. By performing without them she proved this wasn't the case preemptively.
While Rainbow High did not deserve to win after all the cheating and rule breaking, Sabrina's performance was the most applause worthy moment in the entirety of the rainbow vision arc.
The gum in Veronica's mouth actually can be removed, there is a peg, it's just glued in. If you use hot water or a hair dryer to heat up that area, you can pull it out pretty easily.

As soon as I saw the Hei Hei doll at 16:50 I was filled with instant loathing. I worked at Target for the past year and I could hear these stupid chickens screaming from across the store. Whoever designed them must hate parents

I was working at Target around 2018 when they first started stocking those god-awful chickens. (Thankfully I quit soon after, for non-chicken related reasons) I could hear his screams all the way on the opposite side of the store where I worked cosmetics.

I'm disappointed how there was no Luna and Sunny interactions this season. Why have the whole "evil sister" thing when you won't expand it? It also felt like so much was happening this season that I got bored and skip around the videos. I even skip over the songs at first because I wanted to know what the story was doing. I hope in the future, we have more character interactions, especially with Sunny and Luna.
I haven't watched this season yet but I feel like they missed an opportunity to make a special edition twin/sibling box like Holly and Laurel had.
That both of them are very different and I feel like they could have done something with that.

I think that's correct since it is (from what I heard) based off eurovision and the host always performs once during finals.
As a goth I do love shadow high but I think the dolls could have just had darker colors and edger aesthetics and the contrast to rainbow high would still be there I LOVE how the band Neon shadow looks(and sounds the music is really good for a cartoon meant to sell toys) and the twins dark purple hair looks amazing on the dolls

i wish we got a twin set where they go to different schools (shadow high for one, the other could be pacific coast or RH it doesnt really matter) of a Gothic Lolita and a Pastel Lolita, or hey, maybe a Gothic Lolita, and a Gyaru girl if they wanted more differences in silhouettes

though a look through wiki seems to point to the Japanese fashion style both massively ignoring pretty everything about the book and movie except for concept of "cute and elegant girl".

The name for lolita fashion most likely originated from someone in Japan hearing the name Lolita and thinking it sounded cute (in Japanese it's pronounced "row-ree-tah"). The book Lolita depicts a normal young girl being seen by an unreliable narrator as coquettish and mature, not elegant or cute. She's just about a tomboy in some parts. The fact that each generation of Frankie Stein could be considered their own character, and two of them canonically use she/her, is definitely a bit confusing when you're talking/thinking about all 3. But G3 Frankie definitely has the potential to stand out as their own character in just a bit more time.
I feel like s3 should have focus on pacific coast & shadow high rivalry more, then focus on rainbowvision in s4. It was too much content with less time to cover it all, so our OG girls were pretty much MIA and the storylines we wanted to see like luna & sunny were non existent. Sad the show literally forgot harper dune performance, mila barely showed up, the some of the series 1 shadow high characters just disappeared when rainbowvision began
Something I realized going back and looking at it is that pacfic coast was a focus for a single episode and everything else was about Rainbow vision. I don't really get why we couldn't have introduced pacific coast later if they were going to be such an afterthought.
I feel like the og girls getting forgotten is problem due to a mandate that every new doll needs at least one scene of attention. And I think there was like... almost 30 new dolls. No wonder no one can breath in this show.

But I’ll just say, I hate how they set up this entire shadow high arch and plot, only for them to be pushed aside, and having a school that we literally have never heard of/know nothing about win rainbow vision, just seems stupid to me is all. As soon as the Royal Three got introduced, everyone knew they were going to win from the get-go. Just sucks for Shadow High, since their entire arch went down the rabbit hole just for a school/band that came out of nowhere.
I liked it. Since both ended up playing dirty due to their respective sets of twins. It wasn't exactly the fairest fight because of their tomfoolery.
Honestly I thought Neon Shadow deserved to win, if not then then the other rainbow high girls in the semifinal with the rainbow streaks. But KPOP is literally ruling atm. One day, we will get our shadow high win

I'm of the opinion Shadow High and Rainbow Hugh didn't deserve to win. They cheated and sabotaged the other schools. Its only fair that Seoul Select won instead. My only complaint is that the 4th place winner Harper Dune should have been elevated to the finals after the Rainbow Divas were disqualified.
A blonde joke that is a frequent inside joke between me and my friend group is saying "It's the blonde in you." whenever anyone does something slightly dumb. Bonus points if the person isn't blonde.
Naomi and Veronica are two of my favorite dolls of all time. I love the nails, their goth aesthetic, the color scheme is very aestheticly pleasing to me, and I am literally obsessed with them ever since seeing their character designs in the show months ago, even after having them in my collection for around 5 months. They are my current comfort dolls and sometimes I can't stop staring at how beautiful they are. And with Veronica, some of her dolls can have the gum removed. Thankfully, mine didn't have the gum glued to her mouth, so I was able to carefully pull the peg out and display her without her gum (yes the hole is a bit awkward, but she is still my favorite doll right now and very breathtakingly beautiful to me). They have even become comfort characters for me (I am an Aspie), and I question why my mind chose them as comfort characters over other characters that actually have good morals and decent character development.
My biggest issue with Season 3 was probably the Storm Twins and Devious Twins lack of character development and them being dumbed down for the sake of the plot with the 'sabatoge arc'. Both sets of twins started out with decent leadership skills over their peers and more intelligence, and it felt terrible seeing both of them devolve into doing petty and idiotic at times sabatoge. As for the rivalry between them, their arguments could have mentioned more of the personal lore and backstory behind it. The only thing mentioned about it is something about Twin Con. Something else that could have been utilized in my opinion is mentioning the in-universe show 'Wonder Models' that Naomi and Veronica were in that is mentioned in Naomi's character bio, and it could have been worked into the rivalry because the Devious Twins are literally acting focuses, so of course they would be jealous of an accomplishment or opportunity like that. And the overall plot stretched on for too long in my opinion.
They really had potential.

Frankie Stein is a character written by some random writers that told their higher ups "Hey, non binary is big right now. People might be more likely to buy our products if we suddenly just make one of the characters non binary" and then the higher ups accepted because more money is good money

I got my tomboy sister Jade (the outfit was right up her alley) and my other sister one of the K-pop girls cause of the colors and bling (also I adore them and want to hold her but cant justify buying it for myself). I do like the shadow high dolls but I think your right that they don't pop out on the shelves like the dolls with color. I walked through a doll isle today and my eyes were definitely more drawn to the bright colored ones or the ones that were black and white plus another color. And I think my mom seemed to think the same even though she doesn't know much about dolls or rainbow high at all. I think are ways to make straight up black and white dolls good but it's hard to get them to stand out against the bright colors of the rest of the isle
I agree me and my sister went to Target and Walmart today and our eyes instantly go to the ones with color.
They stand out more and catch your attention.
And I feel like shadowhigh could have worked better if rainbow high wasn't right there next to it because rainbow high stands out and it's hard to get Shadow high to stand out when you have brightly colored dolls right next to them.
I think the song about being a blonde shamming all the blondes watching (including me who is a blonde) was meant to mock Barbie or sm. My fav song was the Bollywood song sung by Meena Fleur, I just love the tune. Love neon shadow and the royal three, also the kingsley boys. Overall season threes main draw was probably just rainbow vision and personally I’m happy with the winners. And hopefully season 4 will be better

I tried watching the first season. It's not bad (I actually though it was pretty nice), but also not really my thing. But I get excited every time they talk about it (or some other youtubers I follow), because their coverage of it is more my style of entertainment lol

I liked that Luna and the people from her school considered Sunny to be the evil twin. Unfortunately they didn't try to play more into their dynamic which basically can be symbolic for the rivalry of their schools.
The rainbow divas just breaking up felt like they couldn't be bothered to give them a song and performance worthy of those 53 € they charge per doll.
RH and SH should've just been ejected for cheating and both the twin sets should've face the consequences of their classmates hating them for that, but nah that would be too consequential. Plus would make the royal three wining by default seems less awesome....even if we barely got to know them anyways
First episode sets up Sunny & Luna to be main characters and rapidly sprints the opposite direction. Is this really the end? Are they planning on focusing on that next season ?

I heard so many blonde jokes at camp but this one stuck with me. ffs ofc it had to be the worst one.
It just bothered me that the rainbow divas didn't sing R&b or soul music, and that they never explained shadow high gray scale.

I know this is unrelated but im really sorry to hear about mh fans straight out misgendering you-im a nonbinary trans guy myself and the way people go about correcting others on frankies prounus is getting way out of hand-i seen some straight out mock others accents for not saying a character’s name right like its okay to correct people but dont straight out start bein xenophobic & transphobic

This season just made me miss the first season. I don’t know how else to describe it but this season just felt like cardboard. Like a manufactured show that didn’t have any effort put into it, which is werid considering there was a whole album and 3 new doll lines that came out with the season. But the first season kinda had this charm. It was small with a small cast and we really only stuck to 2 places in the school. We also only had one plot twist. This season introduced characters that were easily forgotten about, like 5 different schools and 50 plot lines and twist. I feel like as time goes on rainbow high is losing what made it interesting, and becoming this like “netflix reality tv” drama (i hope this made sense)
Watching this on a train to ignore all the annoying children ♡
most of these episodes character introductions were like "OH MY GAAWD, is that Neolina Bloodorange? She is the coooolest girl ever" and then they fully ignore her for the entire show. I would rather prefer the my little pony g3 treatment were a lot of pony toys were blankslates who didn't appear in the cartoons. Atleast that leaves creative freedom, plus with so many new dolls it's getting repetitive. I mean, Jewel Richie appeared like once and so did Mila Berrymore. It just makes it hard to focus on which characters are gonna be actually important and which ones are just one of cause they make such a big introduction for every character.

I am colorblind but the shadow high dolls deserve some colors bruh. Even I see some shades (but really dark) and these need it. But it reflects shadow-raindbow base pretty well

like blonde joks are rarely at blondes as a whole... ive very rarely seen blonde jokes that arent jabs at blonde women, or at least blonde feminine presenting people by non women/non feminine presenting people. especially since the roots of the dumb blonde jokes are rooted in thousands of years old stereotypes/depictions of blonde women being promiscuous and less human

I disappointed the most by the wasted potential. There were so many possible storylines and conflicts introduced that would have helped the overall story being told. But they’re made to feel like filler just to reach the 7 minute mark. I wouldn’t doubt that full storylines were developed by the writers, but they were told to cut them down as much as possible. I think the episodes would have benefited from being 20-30 minutes long instead of its usual runtime. It’s possible that each story detail introduced would be thoroughly explored and perhaps reach a nice conclusion by the end if given more time. There were too many points in this season where certain narratives were just dropped in favor of introducing new ones. I was kind of frustrated when the last episode made a nod to Sunny and her sister because then I thought ‘Wait a minute.. didn’t the beginning of this season tease conflict between you two? What happened to that?’
However as for shadow high-it isnt meant to be a gothic or alt line, its simply a litreal interuption of the “shadow” in the name, you can see with the first line its not aiming to be goth is aiming to be just monochromic and thats what made them cool, like i love neon shadow but it was such a cool concept to see this monochromic counterpart to a colorful doll line and now that their colorful like rainbow high-idk they just lost what made them stand out to me🤷🏽♂️it just feels like rainbow high but punk
Its not like monster high which was directly inspired by alt fashion-shadow high was never set to be goth so i didnt mind that their fashions werent alt, bcus that wasnt what they intended it to be

Also despite being salty with what happend to Shadow high, im glad the doll community has after a long time a fresh franchise to talk about. Plus like if the biggest flaw of the series is mainstream fashion, you know that that's actually nothing compared to what we had like in 2015 with G2 of MH and barbie fashionistas getting plain in clothing design. RH legit brought back the joy into adult collectors eyes, with the high quality fashion and interesting concept.
i have the nicole and shanelle dolls on my desk, and they match all the black and white photos i have hanging above it really well :-) but if i didn’t already have that sorta set-up, they’d look out of place in my otherwise colourful af collection ^_^’ looking forward to series 2 tho, i’m limiting myself to the SH line for financial + self control reasons and the upcoming ones already look way more interesting than the first wave >:-)

I keep hearing people mention that Rainbow high should incorporate J fashion like Lolita, visual kei, etc etc. But like… Do you really trust an American company to make an accurate to subculture version of that style? Like I’d bet my entire life savings that they’d call the Lolita some “living doll” bs, or even worse they’d go full Gwen Stefani Harajuku Girls with it and make something that leans towards appropriation. I think if I were to make a doll type, I’d focus more on like a prom theme where they can represent a lot of color, simply because I feel that the brand lacks a lot of fancier looking doll clothes since the dolls are in a trendy casual style for the most part. Maybe have a color mixing doll line where 2 characters have to mix their colors to have like a green and yellow outfit together. I don’t know, but I just don’t trust an American doll company to accurately represent most subcultures, especially those that aren’t from the US.
