- In the latest episode of Newshour Debate, Navika Kumar discusses controversy over PM Modi's Ganesh Aarti At CJI's Home with Supreme Court's senior advocates Dushyant Dave and Mahesh Jethmalani. A massive political row has erupted over a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud's home for Ganesh Puja. A section of opposition leaders have criticised the meeting, with one saying it sends an "uncomfortable message". The ruling BJP has hit back, saying that attending Ganesh Puja is not a crime and judges and politicians share dais on many occasions.

When this anchor is there is no need for any spokesperson from the BJP. This anchor is capable of doing much more for the BJP than sparring and power drunk spokespersons. As a conscious citizen l consider the action of CJI and PM is highly inappropriate and unbecoming of the office they hold. By this action the CJI has shown that he is pliable which we are experiencing in the court rooms on a daily basis despite the anchor counting the handful of cases went against the establishment but cleverly no follow up action taken. Inspite of erudition and soothing words Chandrachud is a compromised person who can hardly be trusted.

Both are just exercising their fundamental right of freedom of religious or Dharmic practices and freedom of association. Both have amply demonstrated their absolute commitment to Dharmic values based life and honesty and probity in public life. Hence all the talk about the impropriety on the part of both does not hold water.
