According to google, The refrain "Jai Guru Deva Om" is a mantra intended to lull the mind into a higher consciousness. The words are in Sanskrit, and they mean "I give thanks to Guru Dev," who was the teacher of The Maharishi. The "Om" at the end is the drawn out "oooohm" used in meditation to relate to the natural vibration of the universe. While visiting the Maharishi in Rishikesh, John purchased a set of brass bracelets with the words "Jai Guru Dev" imprinted on them. (I had to look it up!)
Beautifully explained. Haridwar is my hometown and i've visited Rishikesh many times aswell, but everytime you visit these spiritual places, there's some weird emotion, some kind of existential crisis which unlocks witin your body. As a matter of fact, i feel a part of the very universe. I feel that we are unified. Since covid is getting down, i'm planning to go there once again.

I first fell in love with the Beatles in 1963 when I was only 11, Now at 69 this song still sends shivers down me ! Absolutely Amazing They have staying power. I know my granddaughters now eight and nine will soon have the same thrill. Beatles forever.
You are a very lucky person Cynthia. You have got the opportunity to witness the Beatles when they were together , in their primes. You've got that feeling of eagerness in you waiting for a new beatles album and the joy when they actually releases a one. I'm a 2000s kid who never got the chance to meet the Beatles in real life ( In fact we don't have all the members of beatles now P.S RIP John and George). Just hoping for a chance to meet McCarthy in-person in future, if possible one day.
Beauty deaserves very often to hide violence: here, the Beauty of melody hides a 'psychotic' position !!!: "nothing is going to change my world": the world is MY world and MY world Will not change... death and not Life which is changement...!
It's actually my favorite of all time, not by The Beatles, its my favorite song of all time. I don't listen to it often because I'm genuinely scared that I might someday get bored, I love it so much that I visit it rarely. Preserves how it's nothing like the generic stuff that gets churned out on daily basis by the modern music industry (There are some good artists with fantastic songs, don't get me wrong, but this remains the No1, decades and possibly centuries after it was made). RIP John Lennon, you're immortal though.
I stood at the foot of their graves, staring at the marble headstone of my parents. The only sounds on that sunny day were birds chirping, and a low mechanical growl of a distant lawn-mower. I reached in my pocket pulled out a slim cell-phone, and selected this song. Standing there alone, my mind went beyond the grief, beyond thousands of memories swirling in my head, like leaves in a whirlwind, as lightning flashes of joy and pain washed over me, briefly illuminating each memory. I looked toward the sun. It's rays felt warm on my face, and suddenly i was at peace. This is simply a transition for all of us. It was change. Something an astronomy professor once told to me, rang through the memories, "The only constant in the Universe is change." I placed yellow roses in the small vase on their combined headstone (my mother "Rose's" favorite flower), smiled, and left the cemetery.
Jai Guru Deva = "Glory to the remover of darkness" Since there is a meditation element to this song, I think its overall message is "no matter my current circumstances, no matter what I see happening around me, I have the power to control my emotional state. Circumstances don't control me and I choose to feel good and at peace. There is a book from the Abraham Hicks channeling series called "Ask and it is Given" in it is a line that reads "Absolute well being is the basis of your Universe."
In a parallel universe the Beatles are doing world tours together where they never broke up, where John was never assassinated and Harrison too didn't died.
Each to their own, but I cannot understand why anyone could dislike Beatles' music. Some of the most beautiful melodies, riffs, and beat ever created. An extraordinary output of high-quality material. I think that somewhere in the vast ether of eternity...Mozart, Bach, Beethoven.......et al.....are enjoying and applauding the music of these four dudes.
Some people resist things that are universally loved. Me for example, it took the love of a girl who was really into the Beatles in my formative years to really develop an interest in them. But once she was gone it was like her energy still persisted through the music so it's always clung around in my playlists. I could experience the things she made me feel just by hearing her favorite music.
It's basic n juvenile. Boring almost. Lennon was the genius and the real talent in the band. Twist and shout. Lol. Once they did some drugs they cackled out a few good songs
Wish it had been given proper recording. To me it sounds like they did the best they could to polish it from a rough demo tape. The song was too strong to leave off Let It Be. Even in this etate
Fourteen years ago today, my beautiful sister died and this was played at her funeral on what would have been her 41st birthday. I don't believe in an afterlife or anything like that, but this song gives me comfort
The depth of thoughts behind the lyrics and the way he sings with complete fatigue...wariness...speechless. The predicament of humanity explained so deeply and accurately in 3 minutes.

No song has ever hit me harder. I'll never forget the beautiful group of fans singing this at "Beatles Fest" in the hotel hallway. i couldn't help but cry from the love that was felt.
I didn't come here for the lyrics, because i know them and think that they're the best lyrics anyone has ever written. I came here for the comments, I wanted to see what other people think about this masterpiece
I loved this song from the movie of the same name. The feeling came before the meaning which I googled and read other comments. It seems to mean a lot of things to a lot of people. To me it is an urge to move beyond my limited perspective and see the big picture. We are just drops of water in an endless stream. Being insignificant makes you free and truly part of something awesome.
I wish more attention was put into this masterpiece,it was John's baby it's sad their egos got in the way.this is the song that should represent humans to the rest of the universe, perfect song.
This song is evergreen as true today as when the words music and feelings put together and it will forever be the test of time when we are long gone and In there ever ending infinity and beyond..we on earth 🌎 live in our own univers and make of it as we choose but beyond...that I look forward to going with it xx
for me its perfect as is. Their egos were a result of all the never ending attention but they still turned out bloody amazingly normal and loveable despite it all - nothing and noone comes close to the near perfection of their music
I agree 100% Toikuto! I love this song but I always felt that something was missing from the rest of the band. It basically sounds like a demo without much bass , drums and a string orchestra to express more vibrance in the song.
i just want to let some sople who are going through a lot that people come and go, things happen for a reason, i know you are hurt right now but it is a big part of healing and shifting into who the better you. stay strong
Tell that to a child been raped to death while tortured by a psychopath; very naive thought. I'm sorry but you are not sincere. You want to play the role of the spiritual dude.
theres just something so different and otherworldy about this song. Like they somehow managed to break through the barriers of music, reality and emotions as they exist
This band is still just so ground breaking and phenomenal. Thank you to John Paul George and Ringo for blessing us with there vision of what this world can be.
I was around 10 when I first heard their music I fall in love with them, now I'm 63, still the same feeling. I have to sons and I remembered I used to play The Beatles songs on a mini cassette recorder while they were going to sleep, today the oldest one likes them and the youngest one plays bass in a Rock Band. I can't complain. The Beatles forever and ever.
I was almost asleep and this song popped in my head....woke up 3 daz in a row with it repeated in my head?????then went on fb seen a meam ...across the universe😳THEN my friend that lived in another state the same night was listening and watching the movie
¡Gracias!
I don't know if you'll ever see it or not but I just want to thank you for sharing this beautiful song with me tatinee. It helped me surviving the darkest time I had to face 🙏
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind 悲しみのプールに喜びの波が立って、僕の心をも震わす Possessing and caressing me 僕の頭の中はそれでいっぱいになるんだ Jai Guru Deva OM すべての出来事に、僕は感謝している Nothing's gonna change my world [x4] 僕の世界を変えるものなんて、何もないんだ Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes They call me on and on across the universe Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe Nothing's gonna change my world [x4] 僕の世界を変えるものなんて、何もないんだ Sounds of laughter, shades of life are ringing through my open ears 人々の笑い声、命の面影が僕の耳の中を響き渡っている Inciting and inviting me 僕を励まして、一緒に行こうって誘っている Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns It calls me on and on, across the universe Nothing's gonna change my world [x4] 僕の世界を変えるものなんて、何もないんだ Jai Guru Deva OM...
I was on shrooms when I listen to this song but I love the Beatles and classic rock in general, my father would play rock all my life I’m 21 and we still play rock till this day.
When listening, I noticed to myself in a silent room that when you have tough question that no one can answer. I had thought to myself that in my mind said "The only person to answer such a tough question is a man you never see but believe in, it is a man who everyone knows but they don't really know, A man who is everywhere but is in one place and that man is God."
This song : "Jai, Guru, Deva, Om... nothing's gonna change my world." (a rainbow one as far as I am concerned...) One of the best Beatles ' memory ! Some artistic genius here...🤩
Phil.Spector had John do the song slower then the original unreleased version. Some do not like the embellishments but I do and so did John. Good work Phil Spector.
This song and "Thank You" by Alaniss always tear me up, thanking someone, their Guru or India or just life for its light and dark, the chaos, the movement and the inner peace, all in one, with great melodies, how can one not cry at pieces like these?
Is there really any doubt that this was the greatest rock band ever? You snobs who were there: fine, you were there. But wouldn’t you love to be me, hearing this and being blown away for the first time?
God bless and all these years now I come to know and understand the meaning of those words? Thank God for everything, and May I say what a beautiful song , it inspire me so much. Thank You Sir John for your beautiful and wonderful songs. May you be at peace, now.😢
This is the first song of the beatles that memorised with t he whole lyrics...36 years later i found out that it was john 's favorite one.. And t later on the first song to be sent to space through the Voyager space ship..
How, how in the world could these 4 young people write such a masterpiece? How did they come together, let alone stay together and write such wonderful melodies together? I believe in destiny when I look at the music of the Beatles. It was meant to be. Someday I know, in the distant future, a boy in a large spacecraft traversing the universe and drinking water from his papercup, will be humming this song while it plays into his earphones.
So many covers but nothing beats the original....pure genius.
fiona apple gave the song a nice ethereal feel though just my my opinion though. still love the original equally.

I listen to the Fiona Apple version whenever I have encountered a Democrat. It's a way to calm down and find some peace.

In a parallel universe the Beatles are doing world tours together where they never broke up, where John was never assassinated and Harrison too didn't died.

This song makes me cry almost just about every time.
And in a other one they are named the shoes
Everytime we listen to one of their songs, that parallel universe comes alive. :)

Same. Now it reminds me of Tomorrow Never Knows, only less trippy, less psychedelic, the perfect other side (‘B’ implies lesser) to it.

My favorite The Beatles song
I loved this song from the movie of the same name. The feeling came before the meaning which I googled and read other comments. It seems to mean a lot of things to a lot of people. To me it is an urge to move beyond my limited perspective and see the big picture. We are just drops of water in an endless stream. Being insignificant makes you free and truly part of something awesome.
I have to thank my dad for always playing the Beatles when I was younger and I still love them so many great memories while listening to them
I wish more attention was put into this masterpiece,it was John's baby it's sad their egos got in the way.this is the song that should represent humans to the rest of the universe, perfect song.
Agree ♥
Limitless undying love.....
The Creator's love is displayed and felt in His creation and by His created.
This is beautiful
Simply out of this world
Was that a pun?
this will always be my favorite song by the beatles. the chorus is just amazing.. it's like comforting to me but still very sad somehow.
You must be very emotional👍◀️⏏
i just want to let some sople who are going through a lot that people come and go, things happen for a reason, i know you are hurt right now but it is a big part of healing and shifting into who the better you. stay strong

Favorite song from beat bugs on Netflix
So true !!!
Tell that to a child been raped to death while tortured by a psychopath; very naive thought. I'm sorry but you are not sincere. You want to play the role of the spiritual dude.
@@Elaphe472 really had to ruin you have something wrong with you…
theres just something so different and otherworldy about this song. Like they somehow managed to break through the barriers of music, reality and emotions as they exist
I think it's my favorite beatles song, together or apart. There is such depth and such poetry!

Synchronicity, its amazing. The universe is so much more than we'll ever know, we all have a greater meaning. I love you man, keep on in your path.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
¡Gracias!
I don't know if you'll ever see it or not but I just want to thank you for sharing this beautiful song with me tatinee.
It helped me surviving the darkest time I had to face 🙏

Just gorgeous and beautiful lyrics. Good memories from yesrs ago. Beautiful song.
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai Guru Deva OM
Nothing's gonna change my world [x4]
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai Guru Deva OM
Nothing's gonna change my world [x4]
Sounds of laughter, shades of life are ringing through my open ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on, across the universe
Jai Guru Deva OM
Nothing's gonna change my world [x4]
Jai Guru Deva OM...

I was on shrooms when I listen to this song but I love the Beatles and classic rock in general, my father would play rock all my life I’m 21 and we still play rock till this day.
I was thinking someone would write a song like this on shrooms
One of the best songs of all time easily
DAM Its been over 50 years since Lennon wrote this, it is mesmerizing, timeless
When listening, I noticed to myself in a silent room that when you have tough question that no one can answer. I had thought to myself that in my mind said "The only person to answer such a tough question is a man you never see but believe in, it is a man who everyone knows but they don't really know, A man who is everywhere but is in one place and that man is God."
The most beautiful song Lennon sung
This song : "Jai, Guru, Deva, Om... nothing's gonna change my world." (a rainbow one as far as I am concerned...) One of the best Beatles ' memory ! Some artistic genius here...🤩
This is the greatest song ever written
Who's listening to this beautiful song in 2024?
Nothings going to change your world but you
Enjoy it to the fullest
☺️
Yo y mientras viva , disfrutare , esta bella música, POR SIEMPRE THE BEATLES

Phil.Spector had John do the song slower then the original unreleased version. Some do not like the embellishments but I do and so did John. Good work Phil Spector.
A treasure from John! No JL and there would be no Beatles!
This ethereal, otherworldly song has the power 2 flood several universes.
"They slither 'wildly as' they slip away across the universe" (0:16)
"ringing through my 'opened ears' ...." (2:15)
This song and "Thank You" by Alaniss always tear me up, thanking someone, their Guru or India or just life for its light and dark, the chaos, the movement and the inner peace, all in one, with great melodies, how can one not cry at pieces like these?
Hasn't been anything like this since...... Timeless and as one of a kind as much as a supernova....

@@ringoluv1331 I agree imagine is a great song, but this one speaks to something so much deeper, or at least for me.
John's music was so unique. This and #9 dream are my favorites
Listening again, each time I listen depth just keeps increasing
Is there really any doubt that this was the greatest rock band ever? You snobs who were there: fine, you were there. But wouldn’t you love to be me, hearing this and being blown away for the first time?

No, I congratulate you
Probably... the most beautiful and meaningful song of immortal Beatles !

That's why the Beatles is the best band ever
How, how in the world could these 4 young people write such a masterpiece? How did they come together, let alone stay together and write such wonderful melodies together? I believe in destiny when I look at the music of the Beatles. It was meant to be. Someday I know, in the distant future, a boy in a large spacecraft traversing the universe and drinking water from his papercup, will be humming this song while it plays into his earphones.
Why do i feel happy and at the same time tears of sadness flows while the world asleep peacefully.
