Love them old cabover Fords. Drove a few of them with the gas engines in my early days with the FD.
I gasped on that second tree😨lol drove many a Ford like that back in the 70s and all the others mostly 5 & 4 twin screws thanks for the video.
Cutting dead tree's always as a pucker factor of 1,000% hey btw thank you very very very much for giving me a shout-out on my birthday. Honestly that was the best gift anyone could have ever given to me. It goes to show everyone else that you do pay attention to fans. Oh and I turned 39 years young last week on the 15th.some youtuber's say they pay attention but never really interact with the fans. That's not the case with you bud. Thank you for everything you do for us. I appreciate everything you do. Your an amazing person bud.
Drove one of those C-850's it was 4MPG on a good day pulled a 3ax 10 ft spread ,38 ft trailer hauled coils mostly also had a shelf sleeper wore that Ford OUT !! 150K on it when I got a MACK .
Great video those trees were rough. Great job with putting them on the ground
To say those trees were dead is an understatement. Dangerous for sure. I like that old truck.
I remember our small town volunteer fire dept back when I was in school and after high school when I ran with them had two of those old Ford C-cabs. Both were also gas, interesting to drive for sure! Kinda steered and rode like a lumber cart.
Great job getting those trees down, dangerous job but good work!
Thank you Stanley!
Now that was a great video Tim. 👍👍👍. Those where some dangerous and unpredictable trees. Without the mini even more so. I learned a few things on this one as with most of your videos. Can’t be too careful. A grapple saw on the mini would be very cool. When the second tree started over. I said ol crap there goes the tank but it rolled right on around and went over. Good job. I’d say that ol truck does suck the gas. I know it takes more time to edit and upload. But the longer video’s are awesome. Thanks
Very strong machine like what you do, wish I could do that again but my tree cutting days are long gone. Age made me hang up chain saw.
Great video today Tim really like seeing old trucks like that. have a good rest of the week
Love the video that Kubota is getting it done!!
40 minutes of cotontop... It must be my birthday.... Again. 😂 Hope you and Jill are doing very well.
Yeah it's really impressive seeing an excavator being used to augment a chainsaw!!!!!
On contontop you can go to the librarian now to HEP Explain this to you. Lol
We’ve still got one at our fd. I’ve seen nights pumping fire and a fuel truck would have to come fill it up for us to keep going. We had another one in an F900 just before they went to the L9000 series. 5 speed with a 4 auxiliary. Now that was a fun truck to drive. Take and push the clutch in going downhill kill the switch and pay the gas about 3 times throw the switch back on and that rascal would blow the biggest fire ball out the exhaust. Had to be careful about doing that. I have blown the muffler completely off.
Hey, you cannot shoot ether through an oil bath breather. The oil absorbs the ether. Take the breather off and shoot it in the carb. I used half a can before I figured out what the problem was. Good video! Keep it up.
It’s funny you mention this because I filmed a video of us cranking it today and you are very right, the ether won’t get to the motor because of the oil. We didn’t have enough gas in it in this video and when we put more in, it fired right up.
@@cotontop3 It is funny how you runout of fuel and have to put several gallons in to get the pump to pick it up. Can't wait to hear it run. I have a '62 F600 292, gets 4 miles to the gallon.
Whew..... that 2nd tree had me on the edge. I thought for sure the way it twisted on the stump,it was getting ready to leave its mark on that gas tank.
Great video Tim I have been a lot of miles in a ford cab over. My dads had a 3208 cat in it with a 5speed and2 speed rear ended. Enjoyed watching thank you for sharing
Man, I HATE cutting down dead trees too! Years ago when I was about 19, my father wakes me up on a Saturday morning so I could cut down a dead Black birch tree because he had a guy with a backhoe there digging up stumps. Well I was hungover as you can be and still be alive, so this wasn't gonna go well. Cut out a wedge, started the back cut and that sucker popped and started to spin and headed right for my car. I bear hugged that SOB until it headed for my Moms 71 Plymouth that I hated... right on the roof!( Was able to pop it back). 4 guys watching the whole deal. Never did it again though. (stopped drinking a few years late, that helped)
Watch all the time and your videos never get boring keep up the the great and hard work.
Love your video I could work like that all day every day if I could, i use to in my early days and didn't want to stop until it was too dark to see. That's not work, that's just a lot of fun
Wow Tim..Great video and I lost something in a truck like that many year's later though..😂
Those tree's were no joke, man they were rotten for sure, Have a great day Tim..
My dad and I cut down 3 cherry trees a few months ago. They were dead and we knew they had bugs and termites in the trees due to the woodpecker holes. Dad started to cut the notch and the tree started falling. Only had about 2 inches of good holding wood on 1 side of it. Luckily we had a rope on it to pull it the direction we wanted it to go
great video Tim , that was some scary looking trees and i love that old Ford be safe and have a blessed day !
I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with the power that little Kubota seems to have
Kevin McGann yeah it’s really impressive watching someone use an excavator to fell a tree!
@@anastyb thats not what I said!
Husky was running good. The second tree was trying it's best to smack the propane tank. Kubota saved the day.
That’s when the tree was rubbing past that big pine on the way down. Notice when it starts twisting that the hinge was doing its thing and still continued to hold like its supposed to.
yeah kubota mini excavators can handle heay duty tesk wich no other branded mini excavators wouldnt lift anything heavyer plus there planing someday in the feature steping up to making the full size excavators
Awesome video Tim, great job, them saws do a good job, thanks for sharing. 👌🌳💪🌲
@:58 boy you maken that thang EAT!!! Love it as with all your videos but I think we need more Cottonwood man whachew talkn bout 😂...... Thank you for sharing Tim!!
That is one stronger machine
TIM, I bet the pucker factor was in full effect when you were cutting that last big pine tree. I use to drive a cabover Ford at the Fire Dept. it had 3208 Cat motor in it.
Great job dropping those dead trees. Enjoyed watching.
Good job Tim
Enjoyed the video as always. It sounded like the ol girl wasn't getting any fire. You should try and talk Kubota into sponsoring you a trip down to Moultrie, GA. for the Sunbelt Ag Expo. I'm sure they would love the extra attention at their booth.
accully kubota are great to get sponsoring from just like my kubota dealer does like to sponsor mostually for sick children and christmas shoe boxes for kids and families that dont have anything nice wich my kubota dealer is awsome but with new holland and john deere dealers they dont do anything like that wich seems disapointing dealers for kids dont have anything wich my kubota dealer been doing it for 15 years
You did a good job with some bad trees. Have a good day.
Those Ford cabovers are sweet looking trucks, would like a single axle tractor.
Dropping those first two trees,I was like "oh man" lol
😱😱😱🥴😲 TIM 🥴 22:06 I THOUGHT YOU HAD THE GAS TANK 😧😉🙏😎 when that split 💪👌👍 (THE OLD "SUPER DUTY LOST SPARK ??????) TOO MUCH HUMIDITY IN THE WOODS....
THANKS TIM AND KEEP THEM CHIPS FLYING 😍😍😍😍😍 🙏🙏 GOD BLESS
Get some popcorn....You're gonna be here awhile just getting through the commercials. I counted 14 and didn't even get to the last 3 minutes.
firefox browser adblock plus addon installed , not a single commercial.
That ol truck reminds me of my first ride.. Ford LTD. Had enough gas to get to the store. Put enough gas in it to get back home and back to the store. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think that Kubota will pick up heavier logs than your John Deere loader. Great video.
534's were noted f or getting condensation in the distributor cap
Likely have to get a screwdriver and scratch the points to get it to fire.
Good stuff as always ! Thumbs up !!
Dead pines really are tricky. It can be hard to determine where it’s rotten and where it has turned to fat lighter.
I don't understand how you get it all done man. Does helping a brother out count as your day of rest?
Is Milwaukee gonna have some shaded versions of the safety glasses?
I hope those folks have a fireplace or wood stove to use up all that firewood!!
Very nice video sir
Nice work Tim. Those huskies sound good but I think my 661 might keep up to that 572. 😎
Great job enjoyed that!!!!
*installs muffler*
*534: So, you have chosen death?*
I'm thinking that old Ford might have had a points and condenser issue(No Spark) since it did not even pop with the puff of ether in the carb.
Most fire trucks in the early years were block heater babies those old 534 gas guzzlers the fire depts used where never cold they left the station warm came back hot and plugged back in. Having them plugged in and warm 24/7 over the years affects the engine you actually lose compression. A 534 were nasty when they were cold, back firing through the carburetor, chugging and spitting, when they were hot they were not much better. Converting them to run on straight propane was the ONLY way to make a 534 engine driveable.
Graveltrucking that explains why our Louisville with a 534 never ran right. We could never get it tuned perfectly and there wasn’t enough of them around here to find someone who could fix them. We just got our to idle properly and hope that it wouldn’t backfire beside a police car or in a wheat field when under load.
Even the casual viewer can tell the difference in cutting those half-rotten trees vs. solid, healthy wood just by how quickly the saw cuts through it. Way to keep those massive things from hitting anything important on their way down to the ground. Sure wish that big block would have turned over. Maybe next time.
Are the saws at tractor supply the same grade as you are using?
I don’t think they sell the pro grade saws there
Tim,I know ur a top flight professional when it comes to felling a tree, but I bet widow maker branches above u is a really big concern, just unpredictable if or when they come crashing down..I see u always looking up for a good while before u drop the tree.guess that's what ur looking for.cool video once again..
That is exactly what I’m doing, is studying the tree. If something isn’t right, I will do something different.
@@cotontop3 man,I know ur busy,but when u get a chance answer this for me,besides price,why would a logger choose a 625D over a 635D?trees don't get any lighter,lol,I didn't know tigercat made a 625D Until I watched ur Arkansas logging show vid.,just wodering.thanks.
I’m not sure on that, maybe it’s just that it cost a tad less? Me, I’d go for the 635.
@@cotontop3 yeah same here, just borrow I bit more money from the bank, lol, and go all out and get the 635 so the logging company wouldn't regret getting a slightly smaller machine,ok thanks for ur time tim..👍👍
I forgot how. Big the trees are in Mississippi Jessie yrs old when I lived there in bilxoe
Tim - what make of tires are you running on that Dodge these days? I need a new set for mine soon. Thanks!
Coopers but I don’t recommend them.
I had a Louisville Ford tandem with a 534 and a 5x3 with log racks. Trucks weighed 17,700 empty and I have grossed 63,000 with it hauling 18ft pine logs! It burned a lot of gas. 3 inch outlets on the manifold going into 4 inch turbo mufflers for what little good they did. It was pretty loud
Next thing you need is a whole tree chipper!!!
NO FIRE -----POINTS DISTRIBUTOR COIL?
Nice video. I don’t think the truck has a spark.
That old Ford truck oh, I know what's wrong with it, dirty points take the distributor cap off and clean points and it will start right up.
YOU NEED TO GO TO CHAINSAW SCHOOL: Because you don't know what you are doing with a chainsaw, having to aim your tree by standing infront of it. Your saw is large enough to have a fellers line on it, learn to use it, and learn how to make a face cut, and to use wedge's. And while your at it learn how to read a tree.
Are you open to making a bet with me for $5,000 and coming here and let’s me and you run some saws? I’ll even go as high as $10,000 if you want.
@@cotontop3 I tried to e-mail you my phone number if you did not get it and still want to talk let me know and I'll try to send it again, thank you.
Steven Sargent cotontop3@yahoo.com no call. Email me and say if ur up for it and I’ll get you a location, bring cashiers check and come on.
No fire if not hitting on ether
FYI Cranking and starting are two different things
All the trucks IV ever seen like that had 429-460 big block engines
Anthony FORD never used the 460 engine in those big trucks !! They used the 429 !! ! DUUUUUHHHH!!!! And other family engined related to the 534 cu in gaser !!!
@@wilburfinnigan2142 um you might want to go check your information
@@anthonyyoung7344 NO !!!! the largest Ford truck to use the 460 V8 was the 1997 F series Super duty, actually it was the F450 !!!!! I know I had one !!!! 429 was the largest version of that 385 series V8 used in anything larger than a F450 !!!!!! DUUUUUHH!!!!!!
@@wilburfinnigan2142 well I guess since you think you know about every truck Ford made noon can tell you anything so believe whatever you want I'm a Ford guy I keep up with all this crap I have to do work on them .
@@anthonyyoung7344 Please inform me then of what truck over a F450 size used the 460 engine , FROM the factory ???? Fords Super Duty engines were made from 1958 to 1981 in 534 477 and 401 sizes... And these were only ever intended to be used in LARGE truck. NEVER in a Pass Car. 460 was strictly a pass car/pickup engine as was the 429 except there was a HD version 429 made for medium duty trucks !!!!! DUUUUUUHH!!!!!!
Who was 1st to put a thumb on an excavator ? If he didn't patent it, he really lost out.
I'd say the points probably needed a little sandpaper or water in the carburetor... something simple to fix. Would be nice to blow the bees out of the exhaust pipe..... ATTENTION though on falling trees with a excavator is dangerous business. Once you push on the side like your doing and especially rotten trees ...KEEP PUSHING, don't push, stop and push again as the tree could hing on the way up and come over on the machine. I personally seen a man die that way so if its push then keep the pressure on it or it will come back on you. They will break off in a hole or rot and they get quite a lot of spring in the middle of the tree and then the top half is coming your way!!!!! Trying to make sure that you come home for diner
Brenton I’m sure you saw it I’m sure if he had some macs that truck would have turned over in a half turn hahaha see ya Napa mike
👍👍👍
I’m first lol, but anyway. I’m really starting to consider a Kubota like yours.
drove wrecker with 534 way back.
Ain't getting no fire. Clean the points.
For the love of God please invest in a 38-in bar I can't count how many trees I've seen you wrestle with these short barred husky varnas
File them points.
I bet they had to fuel that old girl after every fire call!!
Brenton Medders did you notice the can of starting fluid that’s the problem brother half a sniff of macs and shed run hahaha
Mike Wawrzkiewicz I didn’t pay it any attention. He’s gotten so good at hiding it from us till I quit looking!!😂😂
Brenton Medders actually when he was putting it back in his truck box he showed it and shook it just so we would see it hahaha
That old ford was not firing. Should've spit or sputtered with the ether.
spark? you can start a cat with either...
No spark on that Ford.
who says lightning never strikes the same place twice...
That's cheatin using an excavator
Goodbye starter on that truck soon
That first fall was ugly bud....
Lmfao
It would have been a far more exciting video if you dumped that second tree on the propane tank, try harder next time please. (I bet you'd have gotten 250'000 views)
