    Dr. Bennett,
I just recently found your channel, and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! I greatly appreciate the care and humility you bring as you elucidate the scriptures.
As someone who comes from a Oneness Christological background, I would like to offer another interpretation of the 'Kenosis' passage from Philippians 2.
I proffer that when Paul penned Philippians 2:6-11 and said of Jesus, "Who being in the form of God," he was not referring to Jesus' deity but rather His humanity. "Form of God" recalls the language of Genesis and the creation of Adam (Image of God). As we know, Jesus, theologically, answered to Adam. Read Romans 5 and 1 Corinthians 15. Therefore, Jesus was coming to undo or succeed where Adam failed. When Paul wrote that Jesus "did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped," this references the man Jesus, who, like Adam, was tempted. Yet, unlike Adam, He did not grasp at the divine prerogatives - defining what is good and evil. Lastly, when Paul states concerning Jesus "but made Himself of no reputation" or as some other translations read, "but emptied Himself," Paul is again thinking primarily of the man Jesus who did not succumb to temptation. Unlike Adam, He did not vie for divine prerogatives but instead humbled Himself.
Thank you for your time! God bless.

so, just checking I understand it correctly, would you say another way of phrasing it is he empties himself of his glory? I'm just thinking of John 17:5 when Jesus prayed to the Father to be glorified with the glory he once had.

There's another view on the idea of the _kenosis._ It's called _krypsis._ It's the notion that the incarnate Christ continued to possess and make secret use of His divine attributes. Whereas the doctrine of the _kenosis_ says that Christ condescended Himself in regard to His divinity during His earthly life, the idea of the _krypsis_ says that Christ secretly utilized them during His time on earth.

    Hello
Philippians 2 is most likely a comparison with Adam
    Modern scholars acknowledge this
Adam was in the image of God
    Instead of humbling himself
He grasped at equality with God by eating the fruit (you will be like God!)
Because of this he was kicked out of the garden and died
Jesus was in the image of God
Instead of grasping at equality with God he humbled himself as a servant
And obeyed all the way to the point of death
Because of this God has highly exalted him
This is from the University of St. Thomas:
“A second group of biblical scholars argues that in Phil 2:6-11 Paul (or whoever authored the hymn) was not describing a pre-existent, divine being but rather the earthly Jesus of Nazareth. These scholars generally interpret the periscope as exhibiting a "Second Adam" Christology. According to this Christology, the earthly Jesus described in the hymn did not have equality with God. Christ made a choice - unlike the Adam of Genesis - not to grasp at equality with God, but to be obedient to God by accepting death.”
So even some scholars don’t view this the same
Emptying oneself is humbling oneself and obeying
    Even to death
    Jesus is the Messiah
    The Son of God
    The Son of David
    The Son of man
The man God has chosen to be his anointed king
The man God will judge the world through
The man God raised from the dead
Jesus will return and rule the nations with believers in the kingdom of God on the earth
    Jesus has a God
There is no triune god in scripture
Jesus said the Father is the only true God!
    John 17
3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
    -
    Acts 3
13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Servant Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied before the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.
14 But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted unto you,
15 and killed the Prince of life; whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

Why would you say that? All the promises of God is true. He will finish what He has started.

I don’t know anything about Quantum Mechanics. I’m not a Woo-Woo Everything is Quantum person either. But the Hypostatic Union sounds like Entanglement. I’m surely not the first person to connect Entanglement to Jesus. Someone smarter than me please critique this idea.

Chalcedon was wrong on so many issues. Jesus was God in his spiritual identity of the Logos. He did miracles by the Father in him. He didn't pretend to be a baby. He was a baby. He was a man, with the spiritual identity of the Logos (God), having the Holy Spirit without measure, being fully God in this way. Plus he had the DNA of the Father. He was God in identity before his Holy Spirit baptism, but did no miracles as a child. Chalcedon was barking up the wrong tree with it's talk of intermingling and separation. There is no issue of separation or intermingling of natures! His miraculous attributes were left behind. But now in his exalted state he has them back again. After all, the heresy is to say he didn't know the day or hour of his return in his human nature only. That is Nestorian!
