That's why I own several different kinds of silver i.e generic rounds, 90% junk silver Morgan 1921 $1, Kennedy Half's, Quarters' and dimes, also bars. of course nothing over an oz. And Gold maple leaf's from a oz down to a gram. Seeing my wife and I have no children and were both the oldest of our respective siblings I'm hoping I can leave it for my and her nieces and nephews I've been stacking for over 60 years now thanks to my grandpa and dad (both were never big on banks and the greenbacks and said gold and silver were God's money) Lord willing we can bless them and our church. I like my buffaloes and sunshine rounds just fine, but some of my other generic rounds would be the first ones I sell or trade if I ever unload some silver. Krugerranda and Britannias are going at good premiums today, so I prefer them to ASE’s or Maples for the price.

The buffalos are much more bang for the buck and super recognizable. I refuse to pay those ASE premiums especially since I'm stacking for long term. I never get those really unique stuff because if I have to use my rounds in a pinched economy then buffalos are just as recognizable.

What am I stacking? A little bit of everything! However, my available square footage for storing stuff is VERY small! 6 months of food, hygiene, & first aid take up the majority of space. Second would be the cat food & litter. Then there's the heater & 1-burner cook unit plus a goodly amount of propane to run them in case the power goes out. With our household needs covered, but little space left, I looked at a good many barter item suggestion lists & focused on SMALL items in SMALL packages that folks might not think about. These include things like shoelaces, coffee, q-tips, dice, notebooks, pencils, & sharpeners, nail clippers, lip balms, batteries, etc Of course I also got a little stash of the precious, in grams & ounces, & here's a tip for folks: just ONE tobacco plant makes about a buh-ZILLION of the tiniest little seeds you ever did see!

Premiums are just too high to buy the coins like silver eagles at least they were, I just buy rounds (the well known ones), like sunshine mint, JM, etc....I stay away from the fly by nighters that come and go. Don't get me wrong I will buy the maples and eagles if the price is comparable but when they jump up, just buy rounds. Silver is silver...I always appreciate Tim's advice....
To be honest this is why I'm reluctant to sell some stuff to LCS's. A Merry Christmas bar is going on E Bay, ditto The collectables. The LCS can have my Britannias and Eagles.
Back in 2018 I had bought 3 colorized Christmas 1 ounce rounds for Christmas gifts and I thought that I was getting robbed for paying $26 a piece for each of the rounds. Now $26 an ounce looks like a deal.

So some states charge sells tax on silver ie bars and rounds, where coins from a mint, because they are legal currency will not have that tax on them, so there is a advantage of buying something like a eagle or mapleleaf instead of buying non currency silver,

In a world where everything of value has been counterfeited, I dont see how people trust and pay more for a generic bar or round. Personally I trust jewellery more then bars and coins. A gold ring or bracelet etc is easier to tell if it's real compared to a silver round or bar by the craftsmanship..

Buy what you can afford and a diversified investment strategy is also important in my opinion.

Yeah my goal was acquiring my body weight in silver but I ended up with about twice that haha.
The price of big bars is no longer any better for the smaller sizes. In times of trouble, big bars will be a liability.

I prefer Maples and 1 oz Sunshine rounds. When I pick up bars it's usually Sunshine or RCM 10 oz bars. Shouldn't have trouble moving them if need be.
