    What are your natural hair struggles?🙂❤

      Slow growth/length retention. I have low density, high porosity, "4c" hair. I tend to get single strand knots so easily, which means I have to resist trimming my hair all the time. I also find that the popular ingredients to stimulate hair growth (i.e., JBCO, rosemary, sulfur 8, msm) make my scalp itch like crazy so I can't use them. It has been a very slow journey for the past three years. During that time, I have learned a lot about my hair and my overall health but the change in my hair length is not as evident as I expected.

    Very true. You tube is quick to criticise us TRUE 4Cs. You are doing the right thing Jess. Our type of 4c is unique.

    Best tip I received for my high porosity hair is using water/ keeping it moisturized while styling. It doesn’t take long to dry anyway. Also, keeping my ends moisturized keeps me from having to constantly clip my ends. Protective styling using my own hair is good too ❤❤

    Girl, you said it! I have 4c, high porosity, thin strands, with overall low to medium density hair. In my opinion, all of those characteristics are the HARDEST to have to retain length! Since September 2022, I have been protective styling with my own hair, using Ayurvedic hair spritzes with glycerin, Ayurvedic oils and shea butter. When I tell you that my hair is thriving…it’s longer AND stronger with moisture retention for days, which was NEVER the case before. I highly recommend herbs for my 4c, high porosity sisters because the struggle is very real for us. If you know, you know. Thanks for saying it loud for the ladies in the back! 😅💕

      You're welcome. I had to say it. Not a lot of people understand the struggles of 4C high porosity hair. Many times we experience short length, lots of breakage and don't even get me started with styling. It's just not easy. Thank you for sharing your experience and supporting me on my journey ❤️❤️❤️

      In regards to styling, what styles would you like to do if you didn't have the struggles/limits of 4C texture?@@AlopeciaFreeWithJass🙂

    I'm high porosity 4b/4c natural too. I have a very, very small section of hair that is looser at the back towards my nape area, it's quite close to 4a. I find that that loose area is the one that sheds the most, my most tightly coiled 4c strands grow the fastest but are the thinnest in strand size, so they are the easiest to break. Most of my 4b strands are also at the top of my head and they are the strongest and least likely to shed. They are also the thickest in strand size. Eliminating all styles that put tension on my scalp and minimizing the use of detangling tools has had a positive impact on the look, health, and length retention of my hair. A minimalistic regimen is definitely the way to go for me.

      My hair is shedding like crazy and I am just so frustrated. I like my texture but I just don't like how sensitive to minute changes it is. Chemo took it all off then it flourished a year after treatment. But retaining length is a problem and now it is shedding. 😢

    The struggle is real. I've suffered from Alopecia on and off all my life. Did a big chop about 7 years ago, still to this day I struggle to find something to keep my 4c hair moisturized. I've had protein overload and moisture overload. Then, I decided on going to a professional on several occasions because maybe its me just for them to pull my hair out trying to detangle it🙄. Im about ready to return to a hair relaxer 😩. Just seemed so much easier.

      I totally get it. I'm sorry to hear that you have had to suffer with hair loss on top of the natural hair struggles. Dealing with 4c hair and natural hair in general can be very difficult. Relaxers make it much easier to style our hair the way that we want it. At the end of the day you have to decide what is best for your physical and mental well being. No judgement here ❤😀. Stay connected girl and I hope you have a great day!

    Hey, I'm low porosity 4c with dense hair abd after a few setbacks I have realised extensions are not good for my hair. At the same time I'm struggling to find a way to enjoy my hair while growing it. Many say braid it up for a few months but then what is the use of having long hair if you always keep it hidden and locked away. I guess I'm learning to love my hair at every legnth and not just chase goals blindly because then the cycle will never stop

    Pls stop these harmful stereotypes of 4c, coily, afro hair…, everyones hair grows 1 inch you just have to retain it, stop acting like 4c is the worst, this is why i hate the hair typing system it does more harm then good,because 4c hair is last and its made for people with tighter curls&coils to feel bad. 1:58 the most challenging hair just say you hate your hair.. and when yall see people with long “4c” hydrated,defined,healthy,soft yall claim its not “4c”.. You guys are the type of people to think that 4c hair is brittle,dry,hard,short(nothing wrong with short hair),damaged, cant grow, because on tiktok when some shows short dry,brittle, yall are like “OMG REAL 4c, this is true 4c, finally real 4c” … *edit* and not all “4c” hair looks the same, just because someone says they have “4c”hair and it doesnt look like yours yall SCREAAMMMM… yall are the type to comment them embarrassing comments “my 4c can never” like pls stop how embarrassing.

    • @AlopeciaFreeWithJass
      @AlopeciaFreeWithJass  10 місяців тому +5

      Thank you for sharing your point of view. I do agree that not all 4c hair looks and feels the same. Also, I have seen hydrated, defined, healthy, soft 4c hair and I have experienced it for myself. I love my 4c hair❤️. I was just saying when it comes to maintaining 4c hair there is more work involved than other hair types. I have had long 4c hair and I know what it's like to grow it and maintain it. I don't think 4c hair is inferior or a worse type of hair texture. It just requires a special kind of care generally speaking. Now depending on your genetics, environment, products, styling, diet, regimen all these things affect how our hair grows and feels on a daily basis. I did not say 4c hair was bad or the worst type of hair. I do not believe any hair type is bad or inferior. I was speaking on the challenges of having 4c hair as someone who has it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Have a great day❤️🙏😊

    If i leave it in protective style i feels like to heavy on my hair and scalp even with lose braids or wigs. If i leave it out it drieds up, and falls of. My hair is to short for twist and i grows unevenly. hoping for som help here. 🥲
