Keep thinking this in the UK not Oz - green grass and a crowd who appear to favour England not the Aussies. All very odd lol - thanks for posting this.
England would only play well once the Ashes had already been lost for most of the series in the 90’s. So frustrating. Especially in the 1997 series because we’d won the first test quite convincingly, drew the 2nd test and then still ended up losing 3-2. That was our best chance of winning the Ashes during those 18 long years!!
@@rupertw399 quite possibly. I'm afraid my overwhelming memory of the man was wafting easy catches to squareleg before reaching 30, but he was still one of our best batsmen and a joy to watch when on form. Personally I was more of a Goochie fan than a Gower fan.
@@RockinRedRover I was more of a Gooch fan than a Gower fan as well. If it wasn’t for Gooch in the 1993 Ashes then the scoreline would have been even worse than it actually was!!
This is the ugliest cricket ground I’ve ever seen. That boundary at long off is short compared to the stands which seem to be at a different cricket oval entirely.
Lamb was a disappointment in this series. He got to 91 at Perth and got himself out when we needed a century, and got out here when he was set. Don't get me started on Gower's deficiencies!
How refreshing to hear no balls being called on the field and on time.
Greg Matthews was one of my favourite Australian players. Very underrated. Probably a better batsman than he was given credit for.
Another brilliant upload keep it up

Australia always had an edge in SK Warne. He was 1.5 players.
@@ianjones3568 more than that I would say. 2 players rolled into 1.
Yes, but we were also bad and inconsistent. The selectors especially.
@@ianjones3568 true. We didn’t start getting better until central contracts were introduced.
Atherton's lbw was pitching outside leg surely!
By about 6 inches at least!
Yep, shite decision.
Yeah Atherton’s looked outside leg. Were as Alex Stewart was lucky first ball to survive his appeal.
Classic test cricket 👌
My hero Gower...what a shocking innings...
but he scored 60 ! - I'd say this was one of his best tbh lol.
@@RockinRedRover he scored 100 next match and 123 in test 3

Why wasn't Lord Botham in the side?
England should’ve won this series would’ve been a great bounce back
How so?
They got SMASHED!

It's the Gabba in Brisbane - most people agreed and it was redeveloped 3 or 4 years later.
