And the same big thanks to everyone there from the press, volunteers, organisers, who did the same under the highest pressure - thank you so so much for not being scared and figthing for this lovely, sometimes a bit silly contest, which we love so much. I do feel guilty, but as always we point our finger to the consumer (which may have some decision on watching or not watching the contest) and not to the corporations. EBU, they are the big decision-makers and they did desapoint the mayority of the fandom. They did prove once more that Eurovision is not bc of art and unity, but bc of money and profit. I am most likely not watching the contest next year, but I will always be a fan of the ilusion that they made me feel. All of these years was like something desapointing here, something unfair there... but this year was too much...
You forgot the greatest of all: Baby Lasagna ❤, a young man, who made everything by hisself, without big machinery, who invitited all of Europe and the world to dance with him, without the interfrence of politics...But....if web are honest who is little Croatia....Marko showed the world that true human and moral values still exist!!! ❤❤❤❤ he is the winner in our hearts ❤❤❤❤!!! I absolutly support all competitors ❤
Marko made it happen! But this is not a video only focused on the art and performance and growth. It's about something else and that's why I didn't mention him. If it was about the competition he would have been one of the firsts !!!
I get where you are coming from Kostis! And I get it why Marko was not vocal about his stance. He has a long history of battling depression and anxiety that he is very open about (and that in Croatia, where to speak openly about mental health is still mocked, we are a very sad society in some regards) and I think he was just taking care of himself and staying out of the drama so he can do the job bestowed on him by Croatian televote. I don't know if you have seen his homecoming but he bursed into tears on stage after saying to the people "I hope I made you proud". He also admited that he does not know enough about the Isrl conflict to take a stance bit he also admited that he probably should educate himself more. Croatia was a collaborator of the Natzi regime in the ww2 so many of our people are very careful when it comes to taking sides because they don't want to be accused of antisemitism or associated with our ultra right ideology. And I am not saying that is the case with him but in general. Also, our education system is a bit skewed towards westerm centric history. He did speak up about the uncomfortable atmosphere surrounding that delegation. He also spoke kindly about all the participants and always had nice things to say about Nemo and others. It's a disaster what the Croatian media and many of the people is saying about Nemo and Bambie. I feel sorry for all the Croatian queer kids who have to listen to that for the last fiew days. They deserve better. Nemos song was just as great as ours and many others in the top 10.
@@motherofslavs8761 Thank you for explaining to me a bit more about the culture in Croatia. It makes sense why Marko wasn't vocal, but also that was totally his choice! He didn't have to be. I still respect him as an artist and I love what he did at Eurovision! And yes I saw his homecoming video and it was very sweet. I hope people will stop being homophobic on TV cause this really affects the queer kids mentally. Anyway... Again, thank you for explaining ❤️
@@Kostis_ESCI think to speak up is to engage in their propaganda war - and one has to have the courage and mental strength to do so. It's a scary thing to expose yourself to threats and accusations of antisemitism. That is why I especially admire the bravery of everyone that did speak out. I am still convinced that Joost taking a stand is what ultimately costed him the final. Not entirely but in the end that's what tipped the scale.
Kostis, I'm not a Eurovision fan. I hear a few songs some years out of curiosity and some other years I really don't pay much attention. This year in particular caught my attention because the subject of Israel participation. I had see some of your videos. I really hope for the end of the conflit and for the end of the hatred towards queer people. The comments on the victory of Nemo on the official video are obnoxious.
Yes, unfortunately people who wanted another winner express their homophobia against Nemo. It's very sad because Eurovision should be a safe place for all of us.. Unfortunately this world is not good. But there are good people around and I want to focus on them ❤️ And yes. I hope this war ends as fast as possible. A lot of people have suffered...
Hi Kostis :-D I see it differently - you should first show respect to every participant. Whether it's 1st place or last place. It should primarily be about the music, the voice and the message of the song.
and thank you Kostis to be a real Eurovision Fan now we can start healing , next year we gonna have a new and better ESC so from me and Mustii thank you
In short, the results cannot be considered completely correct, since the NL could not take place in the grand final, so at least the public votes for HR would def have been different. And anyway, that's not what he's talking about here...
i am sorry but eurovision is got horrible since 2014 Conchita win .its my opinion sorry. but music in esc is lost their essence and i am done with eurovision.
Lets not frame this as if Eden was a defensless victim being tomatoed Quasimodo style. That really wasnt the vibe. She's willingly decided to represent her country, which is up to very controversial stuff at the moment - namely bombing everyone and everything indiscriminately, comitting war crimes and starving out an entire population. Meanwhile EBU has chosen to take every possible step to ensure her safety and comfort, going as far as banning the European flag at the venue! These artists that were named all advocated PEACE, yet you dont think they were harassed and their voices and actions suppressed? It's all "poor Eden" --- the reality is it was all a sh*t show, poorly organized and exerting a ton of pressure on all artists involved.
@@tem8432 I haven't seen a single video where Eden was being rude. There are videos where Joost and Marina are being overtly rude (and kudos to Nemo for correcting her behaviour here), and Bambie hasn't stopped being super vocal of where they stand. I haven't seen Eden being rude to anybody, only continuing unphased in the face of such rudeness. Nevermind the audience's booing. Eden must totally have nerves of steel, and she won my respect and my vote. Multiple ones actually.
If you are talking about Joost saying "why not?" and Marina yawning, you have to consider that while the organizers did everything in their power to suppress them from expressing their thoughts, it was basically always operating in favor of Eden. She essentially just had to chill and let the organizers ensure that she would never be challenged - which is why Joost went "why not?" when she was told she didn't have to answer a challenging question. In the meantime, they're all being harrassed backstage with questions about Israel's participation. Not to mention footage of the Israeli delegation acting provicative. - Eden is a great performer there's no question there and yes it must have been a rough time to be in her shoes this year, but she's not as defenseless as your first message implied her to be and other artists definitely need some praise for going through what they did.
@@tem8432 well I shudder to think how she would have been treated if the EBU hadn't set some parameters then. We even had Greta Thunberg protesting outside the venue for crying out loud. I'm sorry to say, but the artist is there to sing. I don't care about their opinion. If anything, if they shove it in my face I'll do the opposite.
No, actually they talked cause they were the ones harrased and uncomfortable. Ebu are destroying Eurovision and they step up and talked even with the risk of being disqualified.
This is not a singing competition, in fact it has long since ceased to have anything to do with music. This is a political and thuggish competition, the competitors to me were simply vile and low people who treated other people in a disgraceful way. Israel certainly has the right to be there and people should respect that fact. Instead they turned the place into a political issue and ruined everything for everyone. To me this is bullying and all those people who call themselves people of freedom, are nothing more than hypocrites and bullies
Israel poisoned the contest like it was a well in Jericho. Israel was that unwanted guest who shows up to the party too drunk and makes a mess of everything like it was 1948.
Funny. Israel used Eurovision as a propaganda mean. Even Netanyahu himself send a message to the Israeli singer during the event. Some of other participants took a political stand and rightfully so
Sorry but i cant support the EBU after what happened, the behaviour of israeli press and no consequences for any of it, you can thank moroccanoil for that. Next, overreacting and disqualifying Joost without finding out whether the accusations were even valid. Lack of communication about that...i dont even like his song or him that much but WTF????What is this special treatment of some countries but then harshly overreacting to others ? This was the most politically driven tv show i have seen. Not even the most beautiful applause sound effect can overshadow the atmosphere in that arena, it looked like the EBU have tried to openly gaslight the viewers, like manipulative psychos. They deserved to be booed, theres no place here for a country that is committing war crimes and is simultaneously singing about how much of a victim they are. Theres no way i will pay anymore attention to this shitshow. Everything i was told about this contest is true, i just had to witness it for myself i guess. I got into Eurovision last year, and im leaving this year 😂 thanks for having me. Kostis you are a great guy and you make awesome videos ❤ and now im gonna go and wait for Marinas new album to drop 👍 i hope she plays a concert in UK soon. i will try to be there ❤
I understand the frustration and I can only respect your decision to take distance from the competition that happens under these conditions. For me this competition means much more, and I hope there's a way that it can be saved and not go through the same things next year!! But most importantly, I hope the war finishes.
@@Kostis_ESC maybe if they drop that sponsor, and get an impartial one, that Martin guy resigns, they change voting system to tele 60%/40% jury maybe I will keep watching.
Some of other participants took a political stand and rightfully so
@demasiadissimo and still they got max votes from the audience. Soo looks like your propaganda is not working
@@may51973 please get some education . You sound like a parrot 🦜
Otherwise what the hell is even the point. Feels like televote is only there to make us think like our opinion matters, but in reality it's just a lot of money for the EBU for nothing.
The world spoked and gave israel the 2nd place (people votes)
bye bye felicia . We will not miss you.
@user-ey5gf7zh2m only the western world, too bad the professional jury didn't think it was anything special. Just mid
Beautiful! 🩵 it really was a joint effort of the artists and many fans who spoke up and are continuing to do so! 🩵
