Too many variables, but there are too many variables to manually sort through. And after days and days of searching I cannot find a way to sort out the variables I want. I regret taking this course so bad it hurts

So sorry to hear about your ordeal. I hope your course instructor was able to help. But you can keep only the variables you need and drop the ones that are not useful. Just use the “keep” or the “drop” command. I hope this helps

@@StataDojo the wording of my initial comment makes it sound worse than it was, it was written at around 4am in a moment of frustration. I managed to reach a solution not using stata at all. But for the record, I knew about the keep and drop functions. My issue was the dataset I was working with had far too many observations to manually go through each one and I found no way of selecting multiples without manually writing down the full code of them, which would take countless hours. There is in all likelyhood a solution that is so blatantly obvious it isn’t even mentioned in any youtube video or online forum as it probably counts as basic common knowledge, but I am basically illiterate when it comes to anything data- or coding related.
