Why can't we directly put limit order instead of using stop loss, as limit order would be executed when limit price is reached...what's the use of activating the order which anyways would be executed on the limit price?

in stop loss limit order [ as well as stop loss market order] why is there a plan to sell less than your buying price...i.e. why are we planning a loss? what about selling for profit? the short selling part is understood----that's fine.
