Southland Mission was the best album of 2015 and this is a great performance of a standout track. It's so refreshing to hear a song with big dynamics, nuanced soloing, evocative lyrics, and fantastic interplay from a smoking hot band that's really listening to each other. Wow.
Christopher Johnson All that stuff you just said, yeah. That.
Cook is doing something special with these guys.
Damn Phil Cook is one hell of a musician.
I kid you not but on a grey morning at Green Man Festival in Wales, Phil was on early, probably fiirst set of day , in the rain, and he played this and during that high register bottleneck solo, the sun came out. Oh how we cheered. Lovely moment, lovely man😍
This dude is fantastic. My favorite album of 2015.
These guys are great.
Went to high school with Phil and Brad great people!!!
That guy is literally playing the bass upside down. The strings are setup for a righty. Legend.
Good!
So good.
I believe the Rhythm Guitarist is Ryan Gustafson (The Dead Tongues). Super talented dude, look them up. That guy can rip. Hell of a songwriter.
Damn! That bass tone! 2:57
That's not Oteil, is it?
Tight band..diggin this entirely
great stuff, like a little bit of a clapton slowhand vibe.
Close your eyes and you can hear Lowell George.
Was my first thought when I first heard this!
Does anyone know what tuning Phil is using. Doesn't seem to be Open D/Open E. Can't quite figure it out.
What is this guitar?
If you're referring to phil's it looks like a jazz master but with the neck pickup swapped out for a gold foil, or some other slide-friendly piece alla a cooder-caster. cant account for the logo on the neck. rythm player's got an SG
