Cigar IMO is the greatest race horse that we have ever seen in modern history. Not even the great Secretariat would've been able to win as many grade ones with the competiton Cigar had to race against. He'll always go down as GOAT of racehorses and his jockey Jerry Bailey as well 👏🏆
We've seen other horses go on long winning steaks since Cigar, but it's no coincidence that those horses were dominate mares because they could get fixed weights or the mare allowance. Azeri, Zenyatta, Winx recently. Also Silent Witness I believe won 17 in a row in Hong Kong, though he was a sprinter. Cigar won 16 in a row in handicaps when that still meant a little something. @Terry Melvin I can’t believe the phone put down way instead of weigh haha, smart phones aren’t so smart haha but then you would think I would have learned to proof read the message before hitting send haha
@Terry Melvin I believe that it makes a lot of sense! Quick story for you about that, I have 2 OTTBs well we were going to a 4-H event and when we got there my mare had herself all worked up, she was into a full sweat by the time we got there, head to tail soaked! I took her aside away from everyone to calm her down, there was no way I was gonna let the young girl take her at that point so I took her away with the lunge line and just sent her around for a little bit, didn’t want to work her just let her burn off the nervous energy for about 10 minutes and she just settled right down and was just terrific after that. The young girl had no problems with her at all! They did the showmanship first and that’s just a lot of standing in the ring while a judge looks them over and you walk them a little to show you have control but she was perfect for the girl, I was so proud of her!! Haha. Then they did the gaming and it all went as good as you could possibly hope for! They can get really worked up before what ever event your about to do with them, just glad we had time to work through it!!

Thank you Mr. Paulson for not doing what most money hungry owners of excellent runners do and that's pull them out after a couple races for stud duty because they're in it for the money and nothing else. Thoroughbred racing would undoubtedly be a much bigger sport if there was some excitement to it.
I visited the Kentucky Horse where he was stabled. They had a screen over his stall door. Said he would try to bite anyone that came close. Groom said he bit or would try to kill anything that came close. They tried putting a goat in his stall to calm him down, he killed it. A chicken got into the stall and it seemed to calm him down.

I love cigar, great horse, I think holy bull would of gave him a run for the money.
All you Americans listen to me...and answer the question...who is the greatest sprinter of all time? I say secretariat was out on his own..for all time...I have Frankel 2nd and cigar 3rd...what do ye think?
You better do your history, Man O' War is the best ever and ranked #1 for a reason!!
Secretariat was by far the greatest race horse ever The people in the comment section over looked secretariat UNBELIEVABLE
Greatest owner if all time AE PAULSON
Cigar ran a 95 Beyer without Lasix on the dirt at three, which actually was in line with what he did later.
But we all have to question how he matched up against Holy Bull! As we all know the bull broke down in the Donn handicap their first meeting.
19:25 love it Mr Bailey
Tear jerker.
I 😅saw Cigar at Belmont. He really looked like a 😅 show horse.
How is the foreman for cigar when he was a foal at brookside annex I was also the one that called him the hammer I was so proud to be in the sports illustrated in 1992 with him he was a very super horse I never did get to see him at the horse Park and I sure regret that so much
Legendary 👑
If Holy Bull had not broken down in the Donn that springboarded Cigar who knows if things would have been different
One great Horse to let behind only by his castrate; even though some another “ “champions” winers of big races were “castrate” ( without surgery)in his life as a stallion, too.!!!
Cam Fella wins the last 28 in a row with the world's worst driver aboard. Pat Crowe ranked as the worst driver at Greenwood and Mohawk at the time. The greatest horse of all time will likely be either One Alpha One or Kadena both bred out of the freak of nature Mission Brief. Mission Brief being the dam not the sire. Google the freak of nature Mission Brief and see the first two foals near the middle of the page.
Thank you Mr. Paulson for not doing what most money hungry owners of excellent runners do and that's pull them out after a couple races for stud duty because they're in it for the money and nothing else. Thoroughbred racing would undoubtedly be a much bigger sport if there was some excitement to it.
Beat in the Pacific Classic and the Breeder's Cup Classic
good one however but NOT unbeatable...
So what? He won 16 in a row in some of the best races there are. Regardless of how good he was he was bound to lose at some point.
That was the Kentucky Horse Park outside of Lexingto.
I would love to race him against Secretariat, War Admiral and Citation.
Super craque, eterno!!!
Awesome
Secretariat enters the comments section giggling 😮😅😁
Why? He lost 25% of his races and couldn't even win 6 in a row. Couldn't even muster up 6 in a row. 🤣
This guy needs the check the books zeadda or how ever u spell her name closed from dead last for 20 races from like 07 to 10 if I missed something let me know.
Winx was very special winning 16 and loosing 1. So maybe on par with Cigar. 😊
Have pictures of my daughters with their hands on his neck at the Horse Park!
** I placed a Bet on CIGAR in an (ALLOWANCE race on the turf A non- winner of ONE other than !!!) CIGAR FINISHED 3RD !!! MOTT RAN HIM ON THE DIRT THE NEXT START !!! THE REST IS HISTORY#!!
Cigar is one of the greats.
Then came Zenyatta.(19 consecutive wins)
And no one will equal Winx's record.(32 consecutive wins)
Well said , nothing like zenyetta.
@simon 1679 Hi Simon, do you understand there are thousands of ways to get beat and only two ways to win. Its the consecutive wins that is the amazing act.
Oh, BTW, Secretariat never raced out of the USA, other than his jaunt across the border to Canada.
Does that make him less of the freak of nature, that he was?
Australia has produced many world class super stars. Winx was not running against Tony the Pony.
Just saying....
@@elizabethferguson7002 Well, technically, Secretariat's last race was in Canada.
@@kevinmurphy90 got me there.
Be Well friend.
@@elizabethferguson7002 is Canada the 51st State
The incomparable, invincible, unbeatable, infertile Cigar !! He hated Del Mar
Have to day he was very special, but aren't they all.
🔵AND THEN THERE IS THE GREATEST RACEHORSE EVER, SECRETARIAT-GOD'S HORSE.🔴
No offense I don't wanna knock his credit secretariat the goat horse 😤
Facts the people in the comment section over looked secretariat UNBELIEVABLE
Secretariat is overrated. Lost 25% of the time. Inconsistent other than his TC series. He lost 25% of time. 🤣 And secretariat couldn't even win 6 races in a row. Not even once. LOL.
I saw him at Suffolk Downs. He didn’t look powerful-he look like he flew over the ground.
Woodbine Race Track ...got Cigar!!!
Most crookest race track in the World 🌎
I like Cigar too,but in all fairness I don’t think he was quite the horse Dr. Fager was.
