The Parasites and healing gives me hope for some deep combat, but as I said more challenge could be there. And maybe it will be on release. Hopefully, the varied gear (and Lamp) allows for unique builds
Most honest and best preview out there. You addressed the question everyone had about the gamelay not feeling weighty, you talked about things you thought weren't pushed enough like the boss fights etc... Most previews have been just praising the game.
It's really crazy to me that with all the talk of Axium/Umbral, nobody has mentioned Soul Reaver. It wasn't the first game to ever try it, but it seems so obvious to me that that's the inspiration here.
Probably because it’s so irrelevant that the inspiration most likely came from somewhere else entirely. Like D&D or a more fleshed out world mechanic than Demon’s Souls. Or Stranger Things (which is ultimately back to D&D). Even the remake for Ghosts N Goblins had a dark world mechanic that you could peer into using light sources.
@@Artercay those are thematic. In LoK it literally takes the same world, changes from.goldishnhue to blueish, and twists environmental elements so it can be used for traversal. You also go there when you die as a second chance. The enemies are stronger. Enemies' are sometimes vulnerable there in a way they aren't in the living world. Those are all mechanical.
I love that parry mechanic. I hate the parry in all the dark souls and elden rings but timed blocks is so much more natural and engaging. Also love the new range stance. Some huge QoL stuff for the souls genre.
For me the DS parry was right where it should be. High risk, high reward type of thing. The "perfect block parry" just seems too easy. I can't even imagine how PvP is supposed to be with that mechanic. But i guess, we'll see.
Lords 2023 is competing with Elden Ring in a combined number of ways no one is really mentioning: - SEAMLESS CO-OP You can play through the game in its entirety with a friend without disconnecting at the conclusion of activities and bosses. - CROSSPLAY Lords 2023 will allow for friends to connect across any of the platforms the game is built for. - LOWER BARRIER TO ENTRY The game's two-life system is more welcoming to newcomers of the genre than Souls games are. 100%. Combine these points with the new angles of innovation they're introducing to the genre, and you have what appears to be a worthy competitor. If this game actually plays well, it'll explode.
Interesting, I hadn't heard anything about this, except for the name - apparently this is sort of a reboot? I've never played the 2014 version, though. It's looking pretty interesting, though, and wouldn't mind checking it out. I loved what they did with the lantern; getting a glimpse into Umbral.
Yeah kind of a stylized sequel/reboot. As I said, I thought the Lamp and Umbral were great additions, hope they stay that good throughout the full game!
Honestly, I'll take grabs that don't hit you when they should, over the grabs that hit you when they shouldn't. From Soft loves to do the second, and it sucks hard every time an enemy grabs nowhere near you and you're still hit.
How is spellcasting handled? Are we binding spells to buttons or is it "Souls-like", where you attune a number of spells that you cycle through with a single button? Is there a spell wheel (like Dragon Age Origins)?
My biggest gripe with Souls combat is parries being one big risk, and blocking with weapons usually being not worth it. Also rolling every attack doesn't look that practical. I am hoping the build variety and PvP will be a lot of fun.
How’s the parry mechanic timing in relation to Bloodborne/Sekiro in terms of timing ? I’m struggling with Lies of P currently purely because the parry window seems to be quite unforgiving, and the reward for parrying seems to negatively disproportionate to the effort.
hey a couple of questions 1) i noticed some screen shake in the b roll footage when you where talking about the tutorial section is that prevalent ? beacause honestly it could be quite annoying 2) did you notice if you could farm enemies for their armor and/or weapons ?
I didnt get tooo much into it, but it seems like branching paths are definitely present. Cant tell in terms of hidden, possibly some, but we'll have to see
Level Design is the most important thing. It can't be confusing and too complicated. It also needs to feel seamless and well-rounded. While the Umbral system is a great addition, I hope it doesnt make the Levels unncessarily more tedious, complicated or confusing.
I remember playing the original lords of the fallen and initially thought I would enjoy it. The game didn't have much content tho and I was quickly disappointed by the repetition of the game. This new version is intriguing as it seems they might have fixed what the original lacked.
I think they understand exactly how their formula for the original took a nosedive and it very much looks like they did a complete 180 and improved on EVERY aspect, I know for a fact I'll enjoy this more then Armored Core
As I said, I have only played a bit, but my impression was that it will have a decent amount of content, unless everything is just repeated from my session. The areas I explored did a good job of providing different experiences
I will wait until release, game looks awesome, but there are some issues with mechanics. I hope they have the budget to fix them, because the game is really cool visually and I like these two realms in game.
based on how you described the ammo system paired with magic, it sounds like you cant do a magic only playthrough if it relies on ammo that can only be filled at a bonfire, and you will be forced to pair it with a weapon. unless i misinterpreted it, thats a really stupid decision
So, i want to play this game with my friend, he plays on ps5 and i play on pc, will we be able to play together? Also i heard the coop is seamless, what does that mean exactly? my question is, how is the progress like? will both progress together? or only the person summoning the other will get the progress? also what is it like when it comes to drops, loot and currency? Also how many players can be playing seamlessly together at the same time?
The biggest determining factor for me is those annoying shield guys. If they're in the new game, no chance. I still dont know how you're supposed to fight them.
Ok so I think everyone should be aware... ive played a shit ton of this game and it is 100% broken rn. It will likely be fixed at some point but now its a complete mess. If you have a gift card or something then i guess its worth it. Just please do not pay full price it very well could be an amazing game it just isnt for now and I wish I had waited. The UA-camrs hyping it up and giving glowing reviews are shills that are only interested in clicks, views and appeasing the devs for profit at *YOUR* expense. Ziostorm is a major perpetrator don't fall for it.
I’ve seen evidence of races being in the game such as a tail being showcased, does character creation have races to choose or can you mix/blend characteristics?
Looks good but its a hardcore gamers game and i am not. Its a game not for casual players. I like watching others play these. Ill pass, i liked sekiros world but it was to much and i know friends who are way better at games than me and passed on sekiro so i know this is not for me!

What a horrible Witcher Sense knockoff. Not into the little lamp gimmick. Souls games are a little too mechanical for me. Very guided, even in open-world. Bethesda really cornered the nuance of open-world. Souls is great for arcade-like action with an ARPG overlay.
Visually this game looks damn nice, just hoping for some depth in character builds and enemy challenge
The Parasites and healing gives me hope for some deep combat, but as I said more challenge could be there. And maybe it will be on release. Hopefully, the varied gear (and Lamp) allows for unique builds

"nobody has mentioned Should Reaver." Actually, the SkillUp preview focused a lot on how this game resembles LOK: Soul Reaver.

Nah the drip alone in this game tops most.
