Tidespring is no small ship...
Looks tiny against QE.
Fantastic videos as usual
👍🇬🇧
Fek The First most ships do there only the American super carriers bigger that the UK super carriers
Gary White
Yep..
Those Nimitz and that Ford...shit, now they are big!!
But i love the fact the UK have two f’off massive ships.
Be great to see us and the US working together again with some serious big boy toys
Gary White
They were.
The US very kindly gave up a US carrier group to help us to train.
True allies
Those chinooks look tiny on that deck!
RAS was cancelled do to bad weather.. Unfortunately, and luckily it was a training exercise..
Stop the hating! Atleast Britain has huge ships unlike 99% of the world...
wow. From those words, i can see how Britain have fallen. Used to be "Britain has the biggest, strongest, most powerful navy on Earth...", and now it's "at least we got a big ship"...
Well America started over killing everything so what used to be huge is now big, but it's true atleast Britain has assets like Hms QE and the RFA ships...
Britain will have the most advanced and moder carrier battle group once the type 26 has been built, the type 26 frigate, type 45 destroyer, Astute submarine, Hms QE, the new RFA suport ships Tide class, together will be the most modern battle group on earth. And we are building new solid suport RFA ships to go with the battle group, and the new p8 Poseidon aircraft coming into service will also join the battle group at times.
I just don’t understand why she didn’t have an escort from the word go. She may not be fully operational but surely that just makes her more vulnerable.
She don’t really need a escort in and close to uk waters as the RAF can scramble from a uk base to protect her same with navy ships are probably not far! I can imagine there’s a submarine protecting her could be wrong
I would imagine they’ve got a sub I too of the air support from the mainland
Unbelievable that the most expensive and largest RN warship ever is let loose without protection of at least one frigate. Irrespective of the fact it isn't operational, it is a target and a costly one to lose through irresponsible lack of deployment.
QE has had a Frigate, HMS Somerset, with her all the way from Portsmouth to Gibraltar out to Malta and all the way back. She may well have been some way ahead or astern out of shot.
1chrish - HMS Somerset was in Portugal and sailed out to meet HMS QE as she passed and escorted her in to Gibraltar. HMS Somerset then remained in Gibraltar when HMS QE went back out in to the Atlantic. HMS QE never went east of Gibraltar and was no where near Malta.
mainsondeau - She should have had an escort, but even so there is basically zero threat to her while she is operating in the Atlantic, off the west of Spain. She was conducting sea trials pretty deep in a NATO area and there would have been multiple warships within range to respond if needed.
That's government defence cuts for you! We have lost too many escorts (and the sub fleet is too small). Will more go under SDSR 2018? It would be madness in this increasingly unstable world. And will future escorts be too light fitted? 'Fitted for but not with'? Glorified patrol vessels? We don't know what threats we will face in 10, 20, 30 years, all we do know is the world is likely to face more risks, not less. Same concerns apply to the Army and RAF
The Brit - I have been following QE's and its associated ship(s) track during its air trials since it left Portsmouth as I have done for most of its builders and later system trials and calibrations (with HMS Dragon) via this website:
www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-1.8/centery:50.5/zoom:9
Now I will stand corrected about when Somerset joined QE as I started tracking after she left Portsmouth and was in the Bay of Biscay but I do also know HMS Albion sailed into Gib. with the pair of them. I can assure you QE sailed East and was performing more of its air trials to the North East and East of Malta for a some days and then returned. She was accompanied by 'HM Warship' which I had assumed was Somerset It may well have been Albion as they were conducting assault exercises with 42 Commando RMs on QE with 820 NAS to test previous SOPs used on earlier carriers and Ocean worked on QE.. Again I am happy to be corrected as to that ship's identity. My interest was in QE. But you are certainly wrong in your locations of QE.
Must be a merlin filming. I wander why they’re so squeaky
The merlin has a British designed rotor tip that anal makes her Alf as silent....
Still needs more escort vessels and amphibious assault ships. Selling Ocean so early after refit was a mistake!
Ocean was at the end of her life. The refit was to make her last to her decom, which it successfully did.
HMS white elephant. These carriers could have rivaled the American carriers, if they had spent the money on cat & trap and had bought the F35C or rafal F1. Now their talking about it carrying 12 F35's normally with 4 helecooters, so why even build them, HMS Ocean could do that.
bloody marvellous, back to the fleet carrier days.
