So important to get these stories recorded from the “old timers”. Every time another old tractor/antique engine collector goes to be with the Lord, a lot of priceless knowledge leaves this earth. Men like this are a national treasure.
Thank you John and Lou👍👍.....l could listen to these stories all day.. John was a pioneer in the antique tractor collecting...Thanks to him and others, many very low production tractors were saved..
Harold had the motor on display at Terning's Steam Show once after "Cylinder Head Jerry" had welded the block back together. Jerry did such a good job welding it back together that you couldn't tell from the outside that it large pieces had been broke completely out from laying in a frozen river bank. Thanks for sharing, it brings back lots of memories of good times!
Tractors like this are definitely a labor of love. From what I've seen, most of them are pieced together from what's usable from others, then, what you can't get, you make (or have made). It's a whole different ball game from what those of us restoring a Farmall M or something like that (a D-17 Allis Chalmers in my case) contend with. Parts for ours are usually readily available.
What a Great Story...Thank you for sharing, wow 9 years...who else loves hearing these stories?
