I love hedgehogs.Sometimes I think it is mean and cruel to keep a wild animal but at the same time they are cute and nice. They are a little dangerous though, depending what mood they are in.
@@heidi7985 they do bite. I have 2 hedgehogs. One is a biter. If you put your hand in front, she will get your skin lol The other just bites when someone is tasty or something like that. So... it dependa on hedgehogs personality.
I’ve head my hedgie for 2 weeks now and he’s starting to warm up to me a bit but he’s also very grouchy and I’m trying to hard to bond with him but he’s so grouchy.. I think he hates me haha.
@@stanleyyy427 I’m disappointed. It’s been about two weeks, and every time there ANY exposed skin, he latches on with his jaws. He even ran up my chest and bit my chin before I could respond. My arms are covered with bites and bruises.
@@rhondamadgirl have you been putting him in time out when he bites? it’s unusual for them to do that, but i had a mild issue with him biting and the time outs seemed to help, it will take time for him to warm up to you
I have 2 hedgehogs for about 4 months and i still cant seem to bond mich with them one is really grumpy and likes to bite me if i get close or hold him tje other one is so scared and shy she only curls up and hisses and even in the cage always hides away when i just so much as get close.. i dont know what im doing wrong or what i can do the only tome they let me hold them is during baths and the shy one sometimes manages to fall asleep on my lap if i take her out but only if i wrap her in a cuddle blanket. They also hate any form of light and only move when I'm in bed and alk the koghts are off.. im really sad that it seems so difficult for me to bond and im so jeakous of the ppl who bonded with their hedgehogs in less than 2 weeks... like how one earth u guys do it

If you get a hedgehog from a reputable breeder and provide correct care, they don't get sick. Pet shop hedgehogs have a lot of health problems, mites is a big one. My hedgehog was very healthy all his life and at almost five he had seizures and had to be put to sleep. He never got sick until the very end and the cause was just old age.

@@aahpoiseeh What I meant was they won't bite randomly. There's things that set them off, and even then it doesn't hurt as much as quilling.
my problem is my hedgehog goes to bed at 10pm and wakes up at around 6am. she didn’t get the nocturnal memo or something
