Thanks, very useful when aligned incorrectly with the block. The other day I had to have 4 guys hold the load while I got the rope uncrossed.

Thanks for making sure that you can count to four. Ten years of building and repairing towers. and I never once had to interrupt a lift. Because I and my crew on the tower. Made sure the snatch block and slings were in the right place and position. And the rope was laid out without any twist in it. I never lifted from a pile of line or from a barrel. And you have at least three times the lift line as the height of you lift. Prepare for the lift properly. And you do not have to fix fuckups.

If you can, you could just lower the load. It'll come out on its own. Then deflect the loadline strait with a block. Away ya go.

That would be ideal, but most of the time I've seen this, the rope is pretty much tied to the drum. When they try to unwrap it, they end up burning their hands from rope burn.

If you align the capstan differently with the target then that issue won't become an issue.
