Gene, that was awesome! The expedition episode was great too - more of those, please! The Wedding Special too, I mean it was great but let’s keep it a one-off, we all like Kari 😎🤟 P.S. I moved to the EU and still have that tiny light you sent me from a giveaway. I totally forgot about it and thought Sam was up to no good when he reached out! 😂 5 yrs, flew too fast!
This is entirely next level: the editing, material, interviews - all feel so real! I watched the whole 22 minutes and didn't notice the time passing. I was mad when it was over, so I acted mad in my sad wooden chair.
Or their politics! So refreshing to have creatives talk about process instead of causes and ideologies they follow and support when they are not being creative
Im just amazed for how this channel has transitioned from informative reviews more into exploration filmmaking itself. I hope you get invited for more projects like this and i might consider going to an acting class!
Gene, you’ve made a lot of great videos over the years, but this was far and away the best. The pace and edits were perfect. Nothing was on screen too long or felt awkward, as most UA-cam videos do. And the timeline of going to the premiere, interviewing the actors and showing how challenging that skill is, was fantastic - as though it was a segment for a network. I was in it the whole way, never thought about lighting, angles, cameras, just the story you were sharing. Definitely more of this, you really are good with interviews. Well done man!
It's great learning about filmmaking from these other perspectives, and honestly it's so much more educational than seeing endless camera reviews. Please, more content like this!
Honestly, I have to say this is one of the best episodes you've done, and I've seen them all. I truly enjoyed your active participation in the interview with Howard Fine as well as the cast from The Bikeriders, plus the Insta360 plug. It was all done really well, and if all your future episodes are to be like this, I'll never have a single complaint.
One of my favorite videos on this channel. I love seeing actors talk about their craft, and learning how they got their from a professional coach is icing on the cake.
Gene, this is without a doubt, your BEST VIDEO so far!👏🏻👍🏻 Absolutely incredibly thoughtful material, great insights, and even your transformation in the scene you did was amazing! Great job, ty for this vid👏🏻👍🏻
Gene, I put this video off for 5 days, thinking it was Red Carpet, Catch the Actors on the way in kind of fun and leaving going, man, I learned more from this than I have learned in years in the creative space. This was one of the best things produced and we are all better for watching and learning from this. Thank you!
What an awesome opportunity getting to interview these incredible creatives! I appreciated the conversations, you did a fantastic job and asked really interesting questions. But also super cool for you to dig deeper into the process of acting, to learn and gain some understanding of the work. This was a great video!
This is the stuff I want to see more for sure. Taking about cone cameras, BTS of movies and chatting with the dop’s and directors. Highly appreciated it. Also the episode with Renan was incredible!!!
This video taught me more about acting than watching movie dramas for the past 40 years. I found it incredibly informative, especially since I'm interested in all aspects of acting and filmmaking, including props and sets. Thank you for sharing this video.
Gene, this Video is fantastic! It was pure Inspiration and so interesting! You‘re asking the right questions! I would Love to See more Content of this Like you! I think it was also a very smart way to show a Little Camera footage and present Cameras while doing this informative documentary piece. All the best For you! I always Loved your Videos and this was really really Great!
For me. I’ve been a long time fan. Like creepy long, back to the travel video days. Through it all. Aannnnddd I can say that this was my favorite video you have ever made. Maybe it’s cause of where I am with my career, I don’t know. But this was gold. The best there is. Thank you and bless you all Gene and Kari and co.
This is an awesome piece of content. It's rare when I come across such a raw and real video of information. The fact you went to the premier and spoke to the cast and director was great. The questions you asked were fantastic! When you spoke to Howard, that's when I was hooked. Please do more videos like this. It was brilliant!
These are the kinds of videos I need as a creative person! I love the perspective from the director to the actor. This episode is growth. Keep it coming, Gene.
Awesome episode. This makes me think that acting comes from within and it applies to the character, in case the actor can give their own version of what is required. If actor's version of the character fits what the director had in mind, we have a match. The reason of not getting a part on a film is not exclusively related to your performance as an actor (that's your ego), is not determined whether did well or not, is more determined because your version of the character fit the director's vision, or if your self could feel the character and see it with empathy. This should encourage actors to keep going, learning, and taking the casting process with a little grain of salt. It is incredible how 5 minutes of a (great) Acting teacher can teach you more than a bachelor degree haha. That seems to me, be the philosophy of acting. Thank you Potato for the experience! Hugs from Chile
Gene, you really have the skill bring something out of the guys, making them comfortable and the result shows. Lots of fun to watch, great edit and good questions. Thanks for that mate oh, and happy weekend.
Gene wow, thank you for making this video and going so in depth into the acting process. This is incredible for me as a no budget DP/Director. Hugely inspiring.
WTG Gene! Great episode! You looked really comfortable interviewing your guests and asked some great follow up questions to their initial answers. Well done!
Gene, you've outdone yourself. I'm excited to see whether your channel evolves after this. I still want the old content, but this behind-the-curtain take was fascinating and your sincerity made it all the more enjoyable. I think your sincerity and humility are the main reasons your channel has been successful. Applying those qualities to this newer content makes me want to see where this path leads.
Also cannot say this is your best episode because I like all of your videos. But I have no admit that this is your one of the best episode! Please make more 🙏
This was awesome Gene, your interaction with Howard and his insight was great, you can very much tell he loves what he does. Talking to the actors about their craft, you can see how much they loved that...!
MORE, MORE, MORE like this! Fun and interesting, what more can we ask for. Well done. It would be so interesting if you can interview influential people from different parts of the industry.
I love your versatility Gene, not only are you doing filmmaking product testing and reviews but the delving deep into the filmmaking craft too. I'm a film student and I'm wanting to get to a level of being able to share my knowledge with others like yourself. What are some of the most challenging times on this journey and what advice would you give when you feel like you're hitting a wall creatively. Thanks, I appreciate your work and I'm a huge fan of your channel.
Man you are good at this! I was surprised when I saw the video because it's not your usual but you knocked it out of the park. Pure gold to watch as a filmmaker.
Immensely interesting, engaging and enjoyable. Thanks for demonstrating how a pro interviewer prepares, listens, and behaves (with enthusiasm and joy). I'd love to hear Howard Fine talk about casting, and what he thinks of productions that take on unprepared actors for a variety of unfathomable reasons. And contrariwise, how brilliant, responsible casting directors think and work. Hm, is that a topic for a video? Talk to Debra Zane? How the hell did they get so many believable female police on Bosch? But I'm rambling, bad habit at age 82. Loved this.
This was truly such an informative and inspiring video, really well structured! Each of the conversations you had added to this cohesive picture of what an ideal actor - director relationship looks like on set. It was amazing seeing everyone's perspectives, goals, and motivations and how they can all play together so well in the best case. The clips in the video are really well cut together to make this cohesive too, gets its points across clearly, well done! Not the kind of content I'm used to seeing on this channel, but I really really enjoyed it and would love to see more! Seems like Gene is pretty knowledgable here too, asked great questions... can we expect to see some acting or directing coming from Gene soon??
Gene, I think we've all many interviews on TV promoting various movies, but this video really stands out with its substance. Getting Howard Fine to talk about the art of acting is a real scoop. You also made the director and actors open up and provide real answers, not the one they rehearsed with the PR team.
All I have to say is, you getting fired up creating something where you're learning stuff has got ME fired up to continue pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Howard Fine seems like an absolute Gem, the cast was on point and ya I dunno, this just felt like a great shift in momentum. Keep that ball rolling!
Creators like potato jet do not have anything to do with youtube. It's the big brand kids channels like ksi and logan paul that drive youtube, and they are driving it straight into pond scum. Because youtube doesn't care about content quality, they only care about ad money. This platform is horrifically bad for creators, but there is literally no other option. The only capable contender is nvidia, but they hate consumers and want to serve enterprise only.
11:45 Awesome advice that transcends all walks of life. This video could have easily not included celebs and it would just as motivational. Freaking awesome content as always.
As a felllow filmmmaker, in the beginning of last year I realized I've never done a study into the craft of acting. So in January of 2023 I started my research. Fastforward a year and a half later, I celebrate my 1 year anniversary in acting class. This has been by far the most influential thing to my filmmaking. It informs my scripts, filmmaking and of course my acting. You've got to start taking classes. I've been with the Houde School of Acting for a year, and it's all online. Fantastic teachers, amazing vibe, an incredible experience thus far.
Yes! Please make more videos like this. It was amazing to learn all these insights from that director and acting coach. Usually it's the actors being interviewed, being asked about the director, but the focus is typically on the actor. Thank you for making this.
I’m reading comments like the good ol days in the next episode so leave me a message!
clip the mics on the inside please sir...
Gene, that was awesome! The expedition episode was great too - more of those, please! The Wedding Special too, I mean it was great but let’s keep it a one-off, we all like Kari 😎🤟
P.S. I moved to the EU and still have that tiny light you sent me from a giveaway. I totally forgot about it and thought Sam was up to no good when he reached out! 😂 5 yrs, flew too fast!
WE definitely want more !!! Thank You a lot. Excellent 💜
I like the new videos & focus. I feel like everyone I've watched for years now are growing into new directions & it's super awesome to see the growth!
That conversation with Howard Fine was so insightful
Been watching u for years. This was one of your best episodes. Great work!
This is entirely next level: the editing, material, interviews - all feel so real! I watched the whole 22 minutes and didn't notice the time passing. I was mad when it was over, so I acted mad in my sad wooden chair.
It must be nice for the actors to talk about their craft for a change, not just their outfits. Great video!
Or their politics! So refreshing to have creatives talk about process instead of causes and ideologies they follow and support when they are not being creative
Im just amazed for how this channel has transitioned from informative reviews more into exploration filmmaking itself. I hope you get invited for more projects like this and i might consider going to an acting class!
that talk with Howard was INSANE. crazy insightful. do another episode with him

Wow, this was such a good video I had to write this. Thank you!
SO stoked to even have the smallest part in helping make this happen. You’re the best, sir!
You are an amazing interviewer, because you know the environment of all the people you interview
Gene, this is without a doubt, your BEST VIDEO so far!👏🏻👍🏻
Absolutely incredibly thoughtful material, great insights, and even your transformation in the scene you did was amazing!
Great job, ty for this vid👏🏻👍🏻
this is awesome bro, love the jumping between who you’re talking to. keeps it interesting and focuses the stream of thought

What a brilliant video Gene! Come back to Belfast soon please
How does this not have hundreds of thousands of views yet - awesome video!!
You guys are the best! Thank you for your hard work and content for many years.

This is one of my favorite videos that you’ve made!
Nice job on this piece. Especially the acting coach bit.
Wow. Just wow.
Absolutely amazing... Learned so many new things that go on behind the scenes... Also Howard gave some amazing pointers for life in general as well...
These are the kinds of videos I need as a creative person! I love the perspective from the director to the actor. This episode is growth. Keep it coming, Gene.

I'm glad you named all those clips, I now have a bunch of good-looking movies, that I haven't seen before, to go and watch. 😁
love your last video on filming exploration and have been following your videos for a while and you probably got my into making drone videos. thanks

Great video. Really liked the insights into acting from the coach. Very interesting!
The way my acting teacher put it is: 90% of what you bring to acting is YOU.
So true. It may have been a higher %.
WOW this is one of the best UA-cam videos I've seen about filmmaking for a LONG time! Thank you ☺
Oh man please more of these amazing videos! The Nat geo one now this. We are really being treated to real value!

Loved this episode. So different…New Potato!
Brilliant video. Such a fun mix of ideas. Feels like a fresh way to do a youtube video on filmmaking.
11:45 Awesome advice that transcends all walks of life. This video could have easily not included celebs and it would just as motivational. Freaking awesome content as always.
What an INCREDIBLE VIDEO!!!!! More interviews!!!!! More of your lovely wife! More teamwork.

Simply Incredible - Liquid Gold
More of these types of videos please!
That was an amazing interview (both of them) and what great content! That was literally a Master Class in 1o minutes!
super interesting to watch
Good Job Brother 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Legitimately a fascinating conversation with the acting coach. I'm a commercial photographer, and it has me re-thinking how I work with talent.
This reminds me when magicians talk about different illusions etc. Love it! Please more of this educational type of videos. Not just expensive gear.
do more classes, would love to see the difference in a scene after 30/60/90 days of training for a non-actor
Glad you're now at that spot, on your UA-cam trajectory.
I love the acting class bit hahahahah
This was a fantastic interview! Please do this as much as you can!!
