Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass 2013

- Just some notes about this video. This is a open air concert in Golden Gate Park. Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is free to all attendees and has been since its inception. The video is a bit shaky because I shot it with a Canon 70D on a monopod with the camera above my head. I moved occasionally shifting my weight for comfort. I had to compose the video looking up at the view screen and it was not too comfortable.
The sound was from the built-in mic which tends to pickup surrounding audio. I now have a Rode VideoMic which should eliminate a lot of that. Also, for the Oct 2014 concert, I'll have the camera on a tripod so it should be better. For more info on the festival, www.hardlystric...

Emmy Lou and Rodney are national treasures.
Every word written about Emmylou is so true but please never discount the amazing talent of Rodney Crowell. Another true Texas treasure.
They both have given us so many decades of great music. Just keep going like the Energizer bunny!
Rodney Crowell, national treasure
So much fun to watch!!!! I just marked 38 years as an Emmy fan.
Two of the best singer/songwriters you'll ever hear.
This song (the first one) was one, if not the first Emmylou songs I heard😢♥️
These two are such fantastic performers and together they are incomparable. Individually brilliant and together their harmonies are fantastic. Wish I could have been there to listen to them. This vid and music is priceless.
Thanks for a well shot clip...I particularly like it because as a pedal steel player myself I can see Steve Fishell, the pedal player's moves, and watch Emmy Lou's and Rodneys chord changes at the same time..hard to find on you tube...Oh yeah they all are on top of their game A+++
in my opinion Emmylou is the Best female country singer of the last 30 years.
I Concur!!!
I absolutely agree. She could sing anything and her voice soared. The current female crop cannot even begin to come close. They are little girlies by comparison. Also, she has not an ounce of vanity despite being truly, naturally gorgeous.
And she got more beautiful over time. Few do.
It's NOT a matter of opinion. It's a matter of fact.
James Smith
You are right, I was not precise enough. she is the best.
Michaelangelo from the Red Dirt Girl album is a magnificent song and the Ryman album with the Nash ramblers is also class.
Since 1970 I have been extremely fascinated by this world leading country singing charming lady....sill singing strong:)....you're a hero Emmylou:)
What a treat! I clicked on this, not knowing what to expect. Best twenty minutes I've spent in a long time.
saw this amazing lady and her awesome band in Winnipeg Manitoba a few weeks ago and the show was fantastic. thanks to our daughter Heidi Gluck who worked with Byron House, bass player for Emmy Lou and thru this connection we got special meet and greet passes to meet and talk to Emmy Lou Harris. Thank you, Byron for greeting us at the door and making sure we got wonderful front row seats and the opportunity to meet Emmy Lou was such a treat. After a solid two-hour performance, this wonderful lady had the time and energy to meet and speak to her fans! It was a great experience...thank you.
Emmylou is delicious as ever .. this video gives a real nice impression of the atmosphere .. the creative force of two artists who admire each other for so many years .. great to see this!!!
Love good quality videos of live performances for those of us who can't attend. Thanks so much for this!
Emmylou & Rodney, pure country gold.
Emmylou was such a pretty girl and as she ages she is So Beautiful and her singing WOW✌❤
Country Music, in particular the ballads, somehow makes it easy to focus on the basics of life. The very first song brings it up supremely. No more asking for the next thrill, but feeling at home. Listening to such a masterpiece, looking at a sundown with a beer at hand... you will know why God sends Angels like Emmylou Harris to our World.
This is. not just strictly bluegrass it is more to the point of strictly the green grass of home where true hearts can be suffused in the simplicity of what the beautiful is all about for the honestly of the expression that rocks my soul enough to know that I actually have one and can't help but make me want to come back for more now and not just again but for time immemorial... until the twelfth of never... what a great performance and of course ALL of them.. but Emmylou Harris when I first heard her I almost immediately had twelve or so of her "tickets"/ cd's to dance to and let me just say "My Fair Lady"had nothing on me because I didn't just dance all night it went on for months until I danced Emmylou right into my heart 💜❤️💕 where I can't help it...there She is staunchly enlounched not to mention implanted and me, well I am just a sideline guest... what else can one be when there is a better half stealing the show every time??? If someone asked me to say "I Do" I could only say, in Truth "I Did"...and that pretty much sums up the green green grass of home. What a band !!!
See how even the wind LOVES Emmylou. See the way her hair sweeps back from her pretty face. Hard to believe that OUR favourite country lady is 65-66.
Dear Rodney and Emmylou, we are all getting older, but with vigor, with great force !!! The two are in my heart.
I see the lead guitarist has a B bender on his tele, noticed during Luxury liner solo. Beautiful performance by all. Emmylou is so special.
Love this video. You did a great job with it! Emmylou and Rodney are so good together. Two great artists.
Emmylou was 65-66 years old when this was recorded. Beautiful as ever.
+cornshucker77 66 -- she was born in April 1947. Still a stunningly beautiful woman. I once told my lady that I'd never cheat on her. But if I ever got a chance with Emmylou, I probably would. She just laughed and said, "If I were a guy, I would too!"
+Bob Rabinoff You've got a good wife Bob. LOL Emmy is stunning as you said.
Thanks so much for this, wonderful music by two artists who have meant so much for so many years.
thank you Emmy!!! i finally got my "emmy".
Grablife: Thank you for recording & posting. I never had any desire for country music until i heard Emmylou Harris. I out grew jimmy hendrix overnight.
She is absolutely amazing. spent all my childhood listening to her beautiful voice. still to this day.
great sound in this mini concert
Thanks
Awesome!!!! 2 of the best!
Just one of the great songs Rodney wrote.
If I Could Gain Control Again.
Thanks for sharing!!
'Great job!!! Thanks so much for this.
Great both of them as always.
I was in Segovia last summer when they performed in Riaza.
Almost the same concert.
Good stuff!
Emmylou grande interprete della musica country da oltre 40 anni. Stupenda e meravigliosa
Love the whole band. Nice picking from the guy playing the Telecaster.
That's Jed Hughes
@@mairianncullen8753 Thank you for the info. Great player in a great band.
Great show!
Thanks for postingt his. Great performance! But these people who seem to go near the stage just to talk with each other are really annoying.... Good quality of the video though.
try going to a concert and twenty thousand drunks start singing every lyric.at a hundred bucks a ticket i'll take a rain check.....people simply cannot listen to music any more....music is just background noise while they're doing something else.go to a concert and watch people so busy taking selfies and texting people that they actually miss the show they're texting their friends about....
This is free with a hundred thousand people on this stage going back I've been there 13 years in a row
Thank you for posting, shared!
Berlin concert definitely one, if not theee highlight of the year; thanks for posting !
Hot guitar players and Emmylou go hand and hand, always.
Shes still beautiful...talent doesn’t diminish when you get older.
I love these songs..
Legends of country music.
great emmylou hey and rodney..
I love it !
beautiful harmony
This is the first time I see Emmylou free and happy on stage..
Ein TRAUM diese Frau ! ( A DREAM this Women ! )
Emmy’s had James Burton, Albert Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Buddy Miller and now Jed Hughes all play genius guitar with her. During Luxury Liner here she’s like “Meh...”!,!!!!
Do those talking in background realize this is one of the best songs ever written? What a shame...
They've been singing together for 40 years. Where did the years go?
Fell on the Bass' face when they hit that harmony ohhhhh
Video Set List:
1. 'Til I Gain Control Again (Rodney)
2. I'll Be Your San Antone Rose (Emmylou)
3. Luxury Liner (Emmylou)
4. Red Dirt Girl (Emmylou)
5. The Rock Of My Soul (Rodney)
Q
Both legends
I was there!
THE BABE!
Why is there so many people talking?
great
love jedd as well
To jest to ,E Harris super
My favorite part is listening to all the loud rude conversations going on in the audience. What a bunch of a**holes! I'm going to see them at Lincoln Center tonight and will be so upset if people do that.
I've been to about five of these festivals in SF....this shit happens all the time. I give people enough time to get their blah blah blah out of their system and to get into the show, then I lay into them and I ain't nice about it. I tell them to either shut their traps or get the eff out of here. I give them options :) This happens to almost every gig I go to, free or not. I don't get it.
The people in the audience needs to shut up!
エミルー・ハリス だと おもう だけで さむけ してくる。 せんりつ てき。 うたごえ で ないている。
who's the bass player?
is there anything better than a b-bender and a gunslinger who knows how to use it?
esto es una prueba
Emmy when you go to heaven you even make the good Lord hot
surely you mean last 40 years
steve i hope you learn to spell emmy name right like you spelled jimmy hendricks
