Now I’ve made Cannabis butter in the same way Ghee is made but an herb is put into the oil. Yes I know many don’t like Cannabis but it’s a miracle plant that saved my life from cancer as I was so sick that plant helped me have an appetite to eat to save my life.
I enjoy all your mellow teachings of prepping 👍🏼🇺🇸 I’ve been pressure canning from 8am to 8pm everyday since I got my canner...what a game changer. Just ya let ya know, thanks for all your do as our brotherhood and sisterhood is what keep Americans awesome 👍🏼🇺🇸💫🙏🏼

The foam you skimmed off is an excellent topping for plain popcorn. The foamy-ness of it makes it distribute better than regular melted butter.

I know that the clarifying process removes the proteins and substances that spoil the fastest... however, all fats and oils do go rancid eventually. I am not trying to come across as a know it all... just please be careful.

@@CrackerFlower I agree. For long term storage the ghee should be pressure canned. I can butter, but I'm not trying to make ghee necessarily. I put my mason jars with the butter in a 225° oven to melt, remover the top white, and top off from another jar of melted butter, then I pressure can pints for 75 minutes. I made a video on it. Pressure canning butter kills the botulism. To prep my jars I do that over night. Wash and rinse by hand, then dishwasher, then dry in oven 225° for 25 minutes face up on a cookie sheet, and then crack oven door to cool.

I put 28 sticks of salted butter in my crockpot, put it on high, fell asleep and woke up to all the brown solids on the bottom. I left the top off. At first, I thought I ruined it by letting it get brown. There was no foam on top. It smelled awesome though. I strained it through a 10 micron cooking oil filter thatvi usually use in water purification. The ghee was a gorgeous gold color. If I can successfully make an awesome ghee in spite of doing everything that Alaska prepper told us not to, anyone can. I can't wait to make butter cookies with this! Score!!!!

It’s so much better and easier when it’s made in the oven! 225 degrees in a glass pan for an hour to one and a half hours. Skim off any floating things on top and then use a large spoon and lift off the liquid ghee. The solids are on the bottom. You never need to stir. So much easier.

I think you should have let all of the water evaporate. You can hear when the bubbles are not bursting. At that point lower the heat and watch carefully as the solids brown slowly. Once they are brown, drain the ghee immediately. I use a fine metal sieve, then pour hot water backward over the sieve to melt out the butter before washing it. I save the solids and eat them with cooked greens.

Theres also something called copy canning. Basically the idea is that all the things you buy that come in cans, when you buy them, buy two cans or buy double whatever you usually buy. So if you buy canned spaghetti sauce every month and you buy 4 cans in a month, buy 8. Then you will start having a deeper pantry, you simply rotate so that you are using the older stuff first, and keep doing that.
Now, when you have limited budget, you will have to modify that a little. Maybe not buy duplicates of all the stuff you buy at once. A little slower and over time.

Great video AP ! A work of art. My Grandmother use to call it brown down butter, and took it until it turned darker, but you have to continually stir it at medium heat, and stir and cook until it foams up, then down twice. By the second time it should be that nice buttered popcorn aroma and tastes Amazing on veggies and steak. Ghee is very expensive in stores, so this is great !

I make ghee using a Sun Oven. It's like cooking using an autopilot. On a clear day, the oven maintains 250°F all by itself. All I have to do is yank it out once all the milk solids settle out, then jar it. I put any remaining foam right in with the liquid - almost zero waste.

Prepping can a daunting task and seem almost impossible, but there are things like this people can start doing and as you said, you can build your confidence that you are learning to do things you did not know how to do before. And this is good because dairy is hard to store, but now we have a form of butter in our pantry.
My mother told me that whenever my great grandmother would heat up some milk, she would skim the thickened milk off the top and put that into a jar which she would stir every now and then and make butter.

Hi AP, Oh my gosh....I can do this....yay👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻!!!! On one of your videos, I wrote to you, "Last week I went to Costco, I didn't find any Ghee anymore." I think it was about a month or 2 ago, Costco was stocked on ghee, but wished I have bought it....smh!! I should follow my gut. Now, I'm too late to even purchase it. No worries, since you put up this video on how to make ghee, I think I can do this. I'll do a small portion now and if that works out fine, I'll make a bigger batch of ghee! At least it will be my own ghee. I greatly appreciate you on how to show us how to make ghee and on top of that, saving us some money & that is awesome!!! Thank you AP! Be safe and stay healthy.
God bless you and your family🙏🏻😊 Kind regards, Nancy James😄💕

Update 10/31/20: 🎃Happy Halloween🎃 Today I shopped at Aldi and purchase 2x 13 oz jar of Ghee @ $6.69. I thought of trying it out today with Beef Ribeye steak & seafood (Dungenous crab, Mussels, Alaskan King Crab legs my hubby cooked. It tastes delicious. I also bought 1 lb each x4 unsalted butter @ $2.89. Now, I can actually make my own Ghee and save some money. I'm excited and can't wait to make it......yay!!! Thanks again AP for this simple & easy to make ghee. God bless you & your family. Be safe and stay healthy🙏🏻😊 Kind regards, Nancy James😄

ANOTHER UPDATE: 11/02/20 My hubby and I made our 1st Ghee....yay!!! He did taste the 1st 13 oz jar ghee I purchased at Aldi over the past weekend. I told him the good things about Ghee, you can have it long term, high cooking point, lactose FREE and tasted better than butter. I think he was excited to make it more than I ( I was excited myself). He end up taking over watching the butter to clarify and he loves it. We end up making 3 pints (3 lbs) ghee instead of 4 lbs. It took us about 45 minutes making 3 lb ghee. The ghee is absolutely beautiful and looks just like yours AP. We are happy and proud we made ghee. I watched this video so many times lol, plus I have my hubby watch as well. Thank you so much for this easy peasy video👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!!! Keep up coming with more videos. Be well, stay safe! God bless you and your family🙏🏻😄

I just made my first Ghee! I only had salted butter so I used four pounds of butter... It took 30 minutes of boiling but seems to have turned out perfect. I used a cheesecloth in the strainer and I got 3 pints plus 1 cup from the four pounds of butter. I could not throw away all that lovely golden brown from the bottom of the pan, so I mixed the top of the brown with the foam and I am going to use it perhaps in a soup?... not sure... it is very salty, but very tasty... I just can't waste it...

    Finally!!
This is only the second video on clarified butter that was accurate. I have watched a few that improperly evaporated the water or did not evaporate it at all.
One just shoved it in the oven and when they took it out it was done.
Another sealed the butter in one of those cook safe vacuum bags. They dropped it into boiling water. They then took it out, cut the bag open, strained it, and declared it finished. Melting in the sealed bag left most of the water still in the butter.

If he's your ex, and you're telling him how to save lots of money by making his own ghee, then you must have a great post-breakup relationship! If so, then it's great to know that there are many more former couples out there who can still be friends afterward. I've had that pleasure with two of my past relationships, and I much, much prefer it to the other kind. Happy Holidays, whatever you celebrate!

I can’t imagine using the oven; I do a large batch and strain some with light yellow and continue to different shades of brown butter. I watch it very carefully and strain using cheesecloth so it keeps even better. I love the golden cracklin’s strained from the darker brown butter. I also prefer unsalted butter; just turns out a bit better. I bought cultured butter on sale; wonder if that will work?
