Hey, I've heard that McGill is kind of known for partying and I was wondering if it is hard to make friends if you are not interested in the kind of setting. Also in year 2 are you still allowed to take classes that aren't directly related to your major? Is the workload manageable?
Hey! If you don’t like to party, there’s definitely no one pressuring you to party! Activities Night, which is a club fair, is a great way to make friends outside of your Rez
Congrats Sophia! It’s hard to find a part time job in Montreal are if you don’t know French. If you want a part time job with out French, I would look to getting a job on campus!
just learn french it’s not that hard. yes, at first your mind gets scrambled with grammar rules that don’t make sense, but once you learn them, the rest will be easy
Fried Chicken! Speaking of food... in an earlier vlog you said you were meeting a friend for lunch at a local pho restaurant... please tell us your favorite place for pho.
Thanks Phillip haha! Yeah for learning French, you can def take French as second language courses at McGill or outside of McGill. Plenty of spots to eat off campus...there’s a lot of food county’s downtown like Eaton Center, Peel, etc. st Catherine also has lots of shops and restaurants!
I don’t wanna give away my location lol but I’m close to campus. If you want to DM me on IG, I can go in more details. Essentially, most people will live in the Ghetto area, or the West Side, or the Plateau
Do you have any smaller classes or are they all in the lecture hall? Also, kind of a weird question but, do the professors call on you and do you have any presentations (i’ve got mad social anxiety and i just wanna be prepared for uni lmao)? Thanks in advance :)
Typically, first year is all big lecture hall classes unless you have a pretty specific and small major. In these large lecture halls, they won’t call on you so there’s no need to worry!
Hey! I know math isn’t a pre req for a ba in Econ but I here that you still do a lot of math for the degree. I’m absolutely shit at math and didn’t take it in grade 12. Do you think it’d be difficult to pursue this degree with little-no experience with math?
Hey! I’m actually myself not the greatest at math (I liked math in HS though). The Econ program here isn’t very math intensive. At least the courses you are required to take. You should be ok!
@@noahchenvlogs hi! I’m kind of having the same issue. I’ve never taken high maths in high school, so would that be an issue with how difficult i find the math in econ?
Yup I have a good amount of friends. Weekends, I usually catch up on some sleep, hit the gym, go out to eat with some friends. Maybe I’ll do a college weekend in the life video soon!

Hello! How expensive is it to live on campus (dorms)? Also how happy have you personally been attending McGill and would you have rather studied elsewhere?
Hey Elias, its fairly expensive to live in dorms. You are probably paying around 1k+ Canadian dollars. I enjoyed my overall experience. It taught me some good lessons, university isn't aways that easy. I wished I got some years back in-person since the pandemic but overall, I enjoyed it.
Hi, I was curious about how many classes do students take freshman year as opposed to 2nd year, also how many can you choose and how many are required ? Love your videos, sick editing !
Thanks Ines! You can take anywhere between 4-5 classes to be a full time student! Depending on your major, certain amount of classes/credits are required!
@@noahchenvlogs So any 4 or 5 classes ( I saw you took music and chemistry at the same time) in faculty arts before you declare your major freshman year ? Thanks for your answer !!
Thanks Gakki! Sorry for the delayed response. Yah, so a minor in music, you have to take some theory and history classes but otherwise, it’s pretty open to what other music classes you wanna take!
