The conflict with Japan has to do with the Japanese solders taking the Korean girls to japan for sex. The Japanese will not apologias by what I understand. Something too that affect.
They won a civil lawsuit and the Japanese government decided to sanction the entire country of Korea. It's like if Holocaust survivors in America win a civil lawsuit against the government of Germany and the German Government sanction all of America. It's insane.
Abuse and forget the government. Make people to people connections stronger than either government alone. Power to the people! Screw gov not apologizing
I was in Seoul about 3 weeks ago. I loved it and wished I was able to spend more time, as I was there for only 2 nights. I wanted to go to the night market and try different foods. I also wanted to visit the DMZ. Wished I could have run into you guys too.

Been to Seoul only for 3 days on a March weekend...too short and too cold to explore different places. A few months later would have been the better option even to enjoy the alleyways that you have visited in this video. That "honey strings" desert is very interesting.
Good video! I was born in Seoul but have never been back. Hope to visit South Korea soon. Wouldn’t it be great to go back to my roots and shoot my food and travel videos there ?!
From reading your description, you were stationed in Korea before moving on and eventually getting out of the military? I will commission in May, and am thinking about trying to get stationed in Korea as well. I have heard mixed reviews (Camp Casey vs Camp Humphreys) and was wondering what you thought of your time there. Thank you!
@@DivertLiving so you would advise trying to get close to Seoul? I hear if you want it as your first duty station it won't be hard to get since not many people want to go there haha. But I definitely want to go
Note that the transportation is subsidized by Koreans' taxes ! That's why they could keep it cheap even taxes ! Also Jajangmyeon is like a fast food which you could eat it cheap and quick :)
i should try waze map as i know kora has operator in kora also update it and in my eyes it is requesting a googel map even though googel is taking over waze i will not use anything else here in thailand and have used it for about 6 years now and have never failed me in now
Haha, the whole time Jimmy is trying to buy his fortune I'm thinking "I think it's going to be written in Korean" and sure enough...🤣. Lucky you had a translator! Wonder if google translate works? I've not had any luck with using it for Asian languages...most times it makes mo sense.
The Korean host mentions conflict between Korea and Japan regarding the NO sign. I read that Japan had the rice riots of 1918 that led to the collapse of the Japanese government. (I can't imagine Americans rioting over lack of rice.). But rice is a crucial staple in Asia. Anyway that led to Japan annexing Korea in 1920 until their defeat in 1945. But during that interim Japan exported the best rice from Korea leaving the Koreans with very little or worthless rice to feed themselves. Now you know one of the reasons why Koreans are still angry at Japan.
@@uhplumber5962 I'm aware of that issue. But Japan claims that those women operated freely and that Korean women wittingly looked for girls to bring to the Japanese troops. That has been their line of argument. I was in the Philippines this past September. I visited Fort Santiago in Intramuros. The Japanese had occupied the fort during WWII. On the wall of the museum there is a writing about the rapes and horrific crimes Imperial Japan military committed while there. So they would need to make a convincing argument that the comfort women in Korea had free will to provide the services they did.
Wayne Samuel The families of the Korean women were told that their daughters were going to work in Japan for the war effort. In many cases the parents never knew what had happened until years later. The idea that 14 yr old girls wanted to service the Japanese army as "comfort girls" is absurd and a lie by the Japanese Military at the time. The Japanese Government has refused to acknowledge or apologize for ruining these girls lives and many Koreans will never forget or forgive the Japanese for this. I understand what you are saying about the rice and it probably is one reason for the animosity.
@@uhplumber5962 the Japanese still use that argument. I think they also have disputes over some island each claim. But the comfort girls are just one issue. But Japan annexed a sovereign nation that once had its own lineage of monarchs. These were not uncivilized people who needed to be colonized. Japan also annexed Okinawa which was an entirely different country with their own language open to trading with foreigners unlike Japan. When I was in high school I learned that Japan was a closed society and did not readily believe in trading with foreigners. And that the American Commodore Matthew Perry entered Tokyo Bay on July 8, 1853 and shot a canon into the air forcing the Japanese to engage in trade. At that time Japan had no navy.
If you say anyeong to people they will think that's rude because it's informal and everyone is not your same age friend. But I also love the area you went to! So cozy. And chimaek/somaek is my jams. I sincerely hope the No No Japan conflict will end soon.
I’m visiting November 6-16. I will be at Marriott botanic park. I would like to have her show me around,,,, my husband is working so I will be alone to explore. Any advise ?
For me I noticed myself being the only foreigner alot in taiwan. Korea was surprising, i went there without knowing anything really girlfriend wanted to go to taiwan, and i meet her family, and it was a idea to travel in a circle from thailand to south korea to taiwan. I did notice the korea girls are very very...hot. I was amazing at the subway size, and the stupid amount of love padlocks at the tower. Only bad thing was sometimes air quality, and the price for hotel room the size of a car park
how fun it is!, right after the Korean girl explain "boycotting Japan", the other girl made me frustrated saying " Oh, this ally remind me of Japanese ally" haha... look at 6:20

What is the average closing time on friday nights for eatery places in that neighborhood?
Everyone seems so polite. No horns honking or people shouting.
