I just finished mine with a 3mm cord. I measured 3.8m (380cm) each because I wasn't sure if it would fit. I also left about a 2 inch (5.5cm) space between each heart. My knots were not too tight nor too loose. I did have some string left. I recommend you use 3.5m - 3.6m strings. REMEMBER that the string you have left at the end will depend on how tight your knots are and the amount of space you want between each heart!! Hope this helps💛
Thanks for this beautiful hanging! I also cut my 4mm cord to the different lengths as stated in the comments and it came out really well! If anything it could have been a little bit longer but I was happy with the result! Lorraine
Very good video but to anyone wanting to make this with 3mm macrame corde, You need a lot less than 4 meters. I would suggest: 3.5m in middle (8 strings) 3m (2 on each side) 2.5m (2 on each side) 2m (2 on each side- on both outter ends) Hope this helps!

Sasha would love to try this pattern but when I measure 4 meters it seems really long I know it’s halved but still seems really long and watching you pull the rope through it doesn’t look as short as yours

Hey Jody, it does seem long, but 4m is about 13.2 feet. I go with 14' which is 168". Remember, you're folding in half, which makes each cord about 7' when it's hung on the rod. Making 4 hearts using square knots takes up a lot of rope, so even though it seems long at the beginning, it is quite sufficient. I always go a little longer because I like the length at the end. Hope that helps!

I had really short cords by the time I got to the 4th heart and bearly fit it in, I am thinking my 3mm may be thicker than it is meant to be.

When you tie a knot, the length of the ropes decreases. Do you know about this? The rope becomes shorter when weaving knots! 😅😚😚
