Sophie 2023: 'I know John Cena, he's in movies'. Sophie 2024: 'I know the guy on the right...' Sophie 2025: '...so, after Hulk Hogan faced Stan Hansen in Japan in 1981...'
@ArcaneAnarchy wonder if they thought he'd be back by then and he just didn't heal in time or they just didn't wanna pass up the chance to use that poster idea. My favorite is when they ran In Your House: It's Time, named after Vader who wasn't on the card lol
@@lucasledesma4684They we’re expecting him back sooner, like Triple H at Vengeance 2001. Offered refunds to customers who bought the PPV expecting Austin.

The sponsor for Unforgiven was RC Edge which was a soda. They had a pretty heavy sponsorship and one of my favorite Smackdown moments is Edge seeing the soda and going, “Soda with my name on it? Soda rules!”
Love it! One of my favorite series on this channel. Maybe you should go chronologically, from the oldest ones you haven't done yet and see how they mature over time as the series go on? Would be something else to touch on.
13:02 - 13:11 'RC Edge Maximum Power' was a version of the brand RC (Royal Crown) cola. This specific soda was simply a soft drink that featured an added - probably abundant - amount of caffeine. Apparently, it only ever existed for a very short stint/span of time (circa 1999-2000).
Sophie, just a point of info on the Rock crop on SummerSlam, they were focusing on his iconic 'Peoples' Eyebrow' facial expression... By cropping out the other eye, it was intended to draw attention to the raised eyebrow
@@kristopherwilson506they don't know anything lol they missed many big things they started watching wwe from 09 i believe and doesn't follow on as a crazy wrestling fan they are just watch now for making videos i believe as they miss very much anything good from past
i wish modern graphic designers weren’t so obsessed with “clean” or minimalistic designs. it’s boring when everything looks plain and the same. i like that they used to be “explosive” with posters back in the day.
Idk why you guys excited as she doesn't know what the poster about its also needed as this is not a poster designing concept its a fkkin wrestling poster which meant to sell and bring tickets for shows and bring viewership as attitude era tickets and buying rate are flying through roof without how the creative the poster is its just matter of pov are you aware or not
My ideas in multiple-choice - A Graphic Designer Ranks EVERY: a. Royal Rumble PPV Poster - b. WrestleMania PPV Poster c. Survivor Series PPV Poster - d. In Your House PPV Poster (WWF + NXT)
As far as the PPV poster years goes, I would recommend going backwards first until 93, then you have tons of room to go back up from 2001 onwards after you finish the 90s. The reason for stopping at 93 is because 95 was the last year that had more than 5 PPVs. You can combine 93 and 94 together in a video as they had 5 each. You could also alternate between going one year backwards and one year forwards, 98 then 2001, 97 then 2002, etc
their posters got much better during the rest of 2000s. I hope she does it for every year until 2010. I stopped paying attention to them after that. I could tell you what Armaggedon 2007 poster was and I cant tell you what the poster is for WWEs latest PPV lol
I’m actually an artist currently doing art for WWE/Fanatics) as well as a life-long, die-hard WWE super fan. I’d love to come on and discuss that with you guys. Sophie is spot on regarding the crop on Kane. It would be much more visually pleasing if it was cropped before the bottom of the mask, so that you don’t introduce another color into the fold.
Welcome back Sophie and Happy Holiday’s Stache club family. The image of The Rock in the Summerslam photo is the same as the Rumble image. I think they edited it, I want to say Terri Runnels in bikini was in that place.
I love sophie’s takes!❤ It seems like she’s a simplistic chic girl because i can already tell the one’s she’ll love and hate. She hates when it’s too much going on in a poster and it has to tell a story. I love it! Welcome back!!
The Summerslam poster’s worst part is that the Rock Eyebrow doesn’t work if you only show one eye. He just looks surprised. He looks like he just watched you eat 80 burgers in one sitting.
Additional idea, maybe something alongside "graphic designer ranks X year's ppv posters", instead "graphic designer ranks every poster for a specific ppv". Survivor series through the years, same for mania, RR, Summerslam, No Way Out/Elimination Chamber...Even MITB has a backlog long enough for an episode like this, by now!
I think at the end of the year, Sofia should rank the PLE posters for 2024. Including main roster and NXT to see her insight on what the posters look like and where she ranks them.
You guys should go back to 1990. Since there was only 4 ppv a year until like 95, you could combine years and hammer out 90, 91 & 92 as 1 video. Then 93, 94 and 95 as another. By 96, they definitely had ppvs every month though.
The text on the sword on the KOTR poster is Vengeance with mirrored effect. Lolz they were too cheap had to use a sword from a different PPV on another PPV poster 🤣🤣🤣
My 2 pence - The problem with her analysis is that she’s being quite shallow with her judgement and not taking the possible contexts inside the presentation of the posters into account much. She seems to question the themes of the posters while also not taking into account what the poster itself is trying to tell the viewer and portray, instead criticising that it doesn’t make sense. Like with Backlash, she wondered why the text is funky and what was with the fire, but all we need to do is look at those very clues. Backlash has sharp typography and a fiery background because it represents significance as to what that word means - a large negative reaction/repercussion to something that has happened.
Completely disagree with the Fully Loaded one. It's not meant to be Stone Cold's hand lol. He's there amongst the shadows, the colours are cool, and the dice are flying out of the hand, they're not meant to be proportional. I agree the hand is a bit goofy, though.
The reason they threw the "world wrestling federation" on the poster and had the logo was to be able to market it to people outside the USA, Due to the world wildlife foundation lawsuits about using the term wwf internationally.
I'm so glad they didn't just cherry pick posters to just find the best of the best and instead showed that there's always been a ton of just completely shit posters.
@kronoslives2543 I get that, but I'm just saying I'm glad they didn't let their nostalgic bias get in the way of the video, they easily could have gone out of their way to pick only the best posters from back then but they didn't and I'm happy about it. I hate when people go "modern things are so shit, it was way better back in the day" but then point to only the best of the best from them while ignoring the mountains of shit surrounding it. Nostalgia and survivorship bias are pretty rampant in online discourse so I'm just glad this video and the one previously weren't blinded by nostalgia.
5:31 no they don’t. They’ve never done that. The early Backlash events were themed around the hooks. 7:57 because the posters are done months in advance and often times the person on the poster won’t be in a store or will be injured and can’t be on the show.
Really enjoyable video. It's so great to have Sophie back. She's the Samantha Irvin of this channel to me, meaning would the show be fine without her? Yeah. But at the same time, having Sophie there adds sooo much.
How about Sophie ranking every WrestleMania poster from WrestleMania 1 back in 1985 to WrestleMania 41 (2025) since they've already released the poster.
No hate on Sophie at all, but I wonder if there's a gap between 2000 graphic design principles and modern ones. The WM one definitely looks like a bunch of cutouts pasted together, though.
New idea, graphic designer recreates classic posters 👀
I like that!
Yes and then Jhon and Dante have to guess the ppv/ple name

There’s a way to do something without it looking like a hodgepodge of random shit. That’s always something that annoyed me about many older posters.

I think the sword for King of the Ring said VENGEANCE.
You could go up a year, then back a year from 2000. So 98, 01, 97, 02. I always love a Sophie video
