- From May 25, 1978, here are some TV commercials that were shown during a Bing Crosby special. There's even an ad for AMERICAN GRAFFITI for its first-run at the theater!! This was taped from Seattle on a Quasar Great Time Machine! I did not alter or change the quality of this recording in any way, so what you see is exactly the way it was recorded!

A pleasant surprise seeing some vintage material from KOMO, Seattle's ABC affiliate. Hopefully some more material from that market turns up. BTW that 1978 re-release of "American Graffiti" was when I managed to see the movie.
Pernell Roberts (Bonanza, Trapper John M.D.) is the voiceover in the Greyhound commercial.
When commercials were actually about the product and watchable
Some of them are, to tell the truth.
That's Skip Hinnant (The Electric Company) in the High Yield coffee ad & Frank Cady (Green Acres) in the Fit & Trim dog food ad.
Also, who really drinks Schlitz beer? And dig that crazy Anacin ad. 😁

When did they stop making the Quasar Great Time Machine VCR? The latest tapes I’ve seen made on one are from 1986 and I have heard references that the machines were sold into 1979 or 1980.
@@glennmillerfan They made the tapes longer than the machines that is right. I think 1979 was as late as it was sold. Betamax replaced it & was of much better quality. I still have Beta tapes that look as good as recorded in 1977

Mr Glasser did you ever scoff at the VX and Sanyo V-Cord II VCRs when they were in TV shops for maybe a year because you knew BETA IS BETTA!
Ads sure as heck dont entertain like THIS these days! Bloody insurance companies, bloody funeral services, bloody cremation services and guilt trip riddled charity ads trying to tear at your heart strings. Ads to slit your wrists to!!!!!
