Yes! I can second that Heaven Sent is definitely one of the best DW episode at least in New Era (favourite of mine personally). And is sets my expectations highly!
This helps a lot because I'm so excited!!! I hope to see a good episode of the good omens series , I'm excited to see who is really going to direct!! 😄
That's exciting news! I've thoroughly enjoyed the stuff I've seen that she's directed, and she seems an excellent fit for Good Omens. I still sort of wish Douglas Mackinnon could have returned as director, but I'm nevertheless super excited to see what Rachel Talalay can do!
Aren't they supposed to start filming in a few weeks and they don't have a confirmed director yet? Maybe if they hold off a bit there might actually be a whole season three. The political/social climate is changing quickly if the response to Blake lively is any indication.
Well, if she was planning to go out to Edinburgh over a month ago, then she was hired before then. Just because they haven't officially announced it to us doesn't mean she isn't firmly hired with contract in hand.
Why did the previous director leave the " project " anyway? It went all smooth, right? And to post this question again...what ever end up happening with the allegations!? Did he ever got charged? Was there court dates and hearings? 😮
@@Miriam-eb2iu there aren't any charges or even investigations afaik. Just allegations in podcasts and a NYT article. The previous director left before the allegations were published, so we can't be sure it had anything to do with that.
sees video upload. Starts praying. Please almost anyone but Taika Waititi 🤣 Don't know why i thought of him. Maybe cause i just bing watched Marvel and passed Ragnarock and Love and Thunder by. But in short chances i get sad about whoever is small. Now goes to watch the video Update: OMG I am so happy... Well as happy as can be under these circumstances
This show and it's production have almost nothing in common with Game of Thrones. DnD got tired of making that show years before the final episode, and we're frustrated at waiting a decade without any source material. They didn't change directors, or show runners. And good Omens HAS the source material. Nothing in common at all.
I liked Game of Thrones and the ending was set up early. If you are a psychopath who murders as many people as possible, it's not surprising that the ending happened.
I admit I did love "Heaven sent" so that part makes me cautiously optimistic. That being said, I realise this will sound sexist, but hiring a woman feels like they're still giving in to the demands of the same haters that destroyed season 3. I remember them calling for replacing Neil with "a woman SA survivor" and idk if Talalay has such experience (hopefully not, it is something you shouldn't wish on anyone), but it feels a bit like token hire to placate them, and I hate that - they shouldn't keep getting rewarded for what they did to GO. Ironically, speaking of "token hires" the greatest lack in the 90m crew is an autistic person. I feel not enough attention has been drawn to how spectacular autism representation has been in Good Omens. And at the same time it's vastly different from other shows about autistic characters, like Sherlock, House M.D. or Atypical. In GO, the autism isn't pivotal and overly focused on, but instead it is organic and visceral. All that was thanks to NG being autistic and artfully sharing his perspective. As a person on the spectrum, it made me feel really seen and wonderfully represented. I fear that without another autistic person on the crew, the 90m will fall flat in this respect as well. Last but not least, Sen, I don't mean to police you, but you using past tense when talking about the fandom's negative reactions to the 90m felt quite hurtful. There are still plenty of us who haven't made peace, haven't moved on, who are still hurting, angry and grieving (...and writing emails to amazon and bbc). If you ever went on the biggest GO facebook groups, you would see grieving fans being bullied for expressing their sadness, you would see people forcefully shoving toxic positivity down our throats, going after us for saying we aren't happy about the 90m. Please don't enable those people (they watch your videos, just like we do) and please don't act like we've ceased to exist...
Gaiman was stating that they hired a new director back in the spring, a few months before any allegations saw the light of day. Given that Talalay has worked with some members working on GO before and her resume is very GO adjacent, it’s highly likely that this is the director he was talking about and her hiring has nothing to do with the allegations.
I am not familiar with her entire catalogue of work, but lookin through IMDB, I can't spot anything that is clearly a romcom. Lots of drama and horror, adventure and some comedy
@@Sendarya I was just joking. 🤭 I have faith that she would/will handle every aspect of the story beautifully and respectfully. Also, thank you for the nice summary on these aparently very substancial rumors.
Ah some good news before Christmas ❤

Someone who understands world building and coming into a specific world and helping it shine 🙂 She would be an wonderful choice
Okay so if she’s that good can we have a full season with her please 😭
I really do wish we could have that, too!
Okay, that does sound good. Guess I'm cautiously optimistic...
As soon as I heard Rachel Talalay, I was jumping.😄 If it is to be, we are in very good hands.

I was scared before but now I feel like Good Omens is in good hands 😌

I think most of us wish that. But yes, I'm also excited to have a solid replacement!

I so wish they would hold off! The whole production feels so painfully rushed.
@@Sendarya Agreed, there’s nothing to suggest that this isn’t the director Gaiman stated they hired way back in the spring.

I think the other director was going to leave regardless; I don't anything legal has happened with NG, just general backlash
@@Miriam-eb2iu there aren't any charges or even investigations afaik. Just allegations in podcasts and a NYT article.
The previous director left before the allegations were published, so we can't be sure it had anything to do with that.
I'm convinced that a movie script was written ages ago in case things went bad

Lol, I agree that Taika would not be a good fit. He's got his own distinct style.
i hope that it isn't the final episode of game of thrones all over again.
Why? What happened there? /Gen, I've never watched a single episode of game of thrones

Did Talalay have anything to do with that? If she did, then this is REALLY bad news.
