I dont leave comments very often but I really appreciate how clearly you demonstrate what to do and how to do it. It really boosted my confidence to try. Oftentimes, I get discouraged from even trying. I'm someone who if I can't get it right the 1st time, then its not for me lol! Tyvm! I'm confident now that I can do more than a 3 strand braid friendship bracelet!

just to help anyone out, you can cut your string wayyyyyyyyyyyy shorter than 47 inches and the other measurement. I ended up not using about 24 inches and I even made my adjustable. so I used about 23-24 inches of string
Hey j have a quick question if you have time, do I need double what the first lengths say because of how many sections of each color string you use or do i divide up the length they give?

Andria each measurement is almost always per single string. she says 47inches per string but I only needed about 25 inches per string

Andria well welcome! haha bracelets are super fun to make. I suggest you start with some basic chevron bracelets or striped ones though! i started with those and even those were difficult sometimes

A trick I use. Use a piece of cardboard. Cut one slat at the top to hold the knot. Then cut more slats at the bottom - one for each strand you work with. When you are not using a strand place it in a slat to hold it down. :) Using a board is also great because when you're not working on your bracelet you can easily store it and it will not get tangled.
she uses smaller cut strings for the demonstration I think. just to make it clearer
a really good way to hold them is get a clipboard and that's how u can hold it
I used to make hundreds of these about 10 years back and was so quick at doing them but have forgotten how to make them but it all came back flooding back watching your video which was very clear and easy to pick up and was also very therapeutic actually! great tutorial, i just didn't understand why we had to cut off 4 120cm long strings. you can do half of that, kinda wasted string for me but oh well. amazing tutorial anyway and thanks a lot

I keep getting spaces in between and I think I’m going tight enough. I redid it and the same thing happened... advice?
Sarya Nieves try pulling the string you did the knot around and with your nail move the knot higher, same thing happened to me
try making the knots closer if that makes sense, like don’t make a knot so far down the string and pull it, make it farther up
When making both parts of the knot, pull the string tighter to make the knot neater and so there all together. Knot tension used to be a struggle for me but after a few months and practice I got the hang of it.

I used to get blisters and my fingers would burn a little but I’ve been making bracelets for a year or so and I now have calluses and it’s all ok.

This was the first bracelet I’ve ever made and it turned out better than I could have hoped! The beginning was slow going cause I kept having to pause the video, but I did the whole thing in one sitting so I was eventually able to keep up with the knots so I could just let the video run! I think I used the wrong thread, though, cause it started to fray with all the the tying 😂
It’s ok some brands are different with how they twist their thread you could tie a small knot at the ends of each thread

arcaeio i struggled and after a while i managed to make this bracelet, i used colours that were really alike so its harder to see the distinction which is an error on my part

does anyone have advice as to how to not get the strings tangled when they aren’t being used? I waste so much time untangling my strings when i could be making the bracelet.
When I make bracelets (especially thick ones) the strings get tangled a lot. What I do is segment knot and in between each portion of the bracelet, i untangle the strings and make sure that everything is ok.

How much do you leave at the ends?
I'd say maybe 3-4 inches looks nice
I usually leave about 4-6 inches at the end for ties.
how do you know how to do a pattern like you don’t make every pattern starting left to right? so how do you know how to make it?
That technique is called segment knotting, a bunch of people do it and they say that its easier than normal knotting lol

just make all of your strings about a wingspan. it might waste some string in the end, but it's better to be safe than sorry :)

Rahaf M ik this is like almost a month late but yeah lmao if you’re doing a loop cut the strings at a wingspan and fold in half to get double the strings. also if you’re doing a stitched loop, cut one of the strings (the color u want the stitched loop to be) a few inches longer

Does anyone know how long the strings should be?
I would start by making the strings at least the length of your wing span. That’s usually enough for me, but sometimes you do have to insert new string. Masha Knots has a tutorial for that on her UA-cam channel.
If anyone want to see her method of starting go to the end first to see how she finishes it same way to start it🙄

You should make easier bracelets first, like a chevron or a candy stripe, this can be your 2nd or 3rd bracelet lol

I recommended a chevron bracelet as the first bracelet you make as it is easy but teaches both forward and backward knots. If you search the channel 'Masha Knots' she has a great tutorial :)
