Whenever I listen to this song I always assume that it's about a person liking someone and being completely focused on that person despite of the chaotic surrounding because that how the lyrics seems like, literally. But as I've watched this MV, I feel like it's about a career, work, or dream of a person. It's like focusing on that career or dream despite of all the struggles or chaos that go through that path.

my own interpretation on these lines (based on MV) - di nila papansinin kahit ano man yung struggles na dumating, they will still hold on to that dream because they see that as hope and focus lang sila sa dream na yon.
So “Tingin” isn’t exclusively about a significant other, but it can also be a song about anything worth fixing our gaze upon-a dream career, a much awaited opportunity, a desired destination. “Di pinapansin ingay sa tabi. Magulong kapaligiran (ngunit) sa’yo lang ang tingin” makes so much more sense now 🤍
Sobrang upbeating nung song kapag pinapakinggan ko ito sa spotify, pero when I watched this music video nakita ko yung real meaning of it, I didn’t notice that I’m crying because of the realization na matagal ko na palang hinohold back yung sarili ko sa mga bagay na love kong gawin, dahil sa anxiety and depression ko. So Cup of Joe thank you for making a great music!🤍 And syempre ganun rin sa’yo Janine, I love your songs!💖

I was caught off guard when I watched this. The message of the MV is entirely different from the usual direct interpretation of most people. This really speaks to me as someone who also have dreams to set aside for practicality. 🥺

I discovered COJ through a post in twitter and since then I've listened to all their tracks. They are so talented and great at making music and TINGIN is one of my favorite. I'm so excited when they released a teaser that this will have an MV. COJ never failed to amaze me by the way they show and interpret the meaning of their song. I thought that this was mainly focused on a certain person that we will always see and prioritize in our life but it can be about how we set our eyes to our goals and passion. As a person preparing for my board exam, I also set my focus and dedication in able to reach my dreams. To my license, even in uncertainties and doubts, "sa'yo lang ang tingin", I will get you no matter what! THANK YOU COJ and Janine for the great music and collaboration!

I had been supporting this local group from my hometown Baguio City, Nung first time ko marinig itong song na 'to sinabi ko igatekeep ko 'to pero nung tumagal shinare ko sa mga friends ko dahil everytime na pinapakinggan ko 'to with full volume, feeling ko ako yong main character sa magulong kapaligiran na meron sa mundo natin ngayon at ayon isang araw sikat na yung song! RATHER, IT’S ACTUALLY ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE AMING FOR, LIKE A DREAM AND NOT EXCLUSIVELY ABOUT SOMEONE??? THIS MV GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS!!! COJ is introduced to me by a very close and important friend of mine (in which is I’m very proud of) a few months ago. Ikaw parin ang pipiliin is the first song that really attached within me because I recently got my heart broken from a wlw relationship. Siya parin even with the circumstances, even if it’s not us anymore, even if it’s not me anymore, siya parin pipiliin ko. Then, Tingin, my heart and soul is intertwined with this song. The tune, the vocals, the lyrics, everything is just a hands down masterpiece from Cup of Joe! I’m now aiming a certain goal, fix and heal myself for the betterment. Choose people who chooses me. Don’t force people to stay, we can’t. If they want to, they would. At first this song really attracts me with its beat, and the great voice of the singers. When I love the music I repeated it many times until it makes me stop to listen it, so I totally grasp the lyrics because of the repetition. I was actually confused whether it is a song about the love of your life or is it about motivation. But when I heard “magulong kapaligiran” I decide to myself that it is a motivational song” Magulong kapaligiran “ for me is pressure and chaos, pressure because I am graduating student and pressured because I’m afraid that I won’t be able to find a job after I finish education. Chaos because I have been surrounded with it “ sayo lang ang tingin” for me is focusing with myself. This song motivates me to strive hard for myself and not for everyone else, because these past few months I had been so tired. I play it repeatedly when I do our thesis and doing work out because it really motivates me and It helped a lot
I was actually happy because when I watched it (It was my first time watching it) my interpretation of the song is right. However the song can be two types it can be applicable to love and especially motivation. Hopefully you make song like this because a lot of youth today really need it.

as an introvert, i don't always do comments but suddenly had the urge to. i just can't explain how i'm so drawn already though i just discovered them recently, there's something special with them, that familiar yet rare feeling at the same time, sort of the same vibe you felt as a kid when you found something nice? they're that. even in the seas of musicians that are just as good, i just knew there won't be any like them, cup of joe is cup of joe. and, tingin was one of the songs (alongside mananatili) i heard for the first time that since then became my faves. seeing this now, i'm surprised how the song and the mv had different meaning. i used to think it was meant for "someone", "for love" despite what comes within, says the lyrics, but the thing that it was also "personal" "for dreams/a life" to pursue that thing, was mindblown. i can't thank y'all enough for your music how much its saving me. please continue. to see and hear you guys live atleast once in this lifetime is always worth dreaming until it would happen. kayo parin ang pipiliin ko! hanggang sa huli!💙
