    • @alanhold2468
      @alanhold2468 10 місяців тому +2

      It's called intelligent battery heating because it's thermostatically controlled. It only turns on if the battery if it is under 10c. And turns off at about 20c. So it doesn't just stay on. Get a OBD scanner

      @@alanhold2468 it should preheat the battery when necessary instead of keeping it at temperature all the time. The MG4 standard cant know wether you are going to charge or not since it doesnt have navigation. Since the button simply activates the battery preconditioning, that's what they should've called it "Activate battery preconditioning" and then make it automatically turn off when you re-enter the car, so you dont have it accidentally turned on all the time.

    Can I reiterate what others have already said? I have an MG4 SE SR, and it's range display is *uncannily* accurate. I've driven it down low, once to 4%, and on that occasion I was overtaking another car when it was at 5% and it still gave me full power. I've come to trust it a lot, because it's good and reliable about what it displays.
    But then, I charge it to 100% on an AC charger and let it balance, every day I charge the car in normal use. I do what MG says, and every 4 months I run the car down below 10% and then give it a single long AC charge all the way to 100% and let it balance. This is how you manage this battery so that the estimated range is reliable. If you don't do this, then you deserve all you get as regards unreliable readouts.
    Others have driven these cars lower than I have, and say there is as much as 15 miles there at slower speeds once the range and the % read zero.

    When was that car's battery pack last balanced? (The LFP pack likes to go to 100% on an AC charge lead and balance - every time, even though the manual indicates once per week. The Guess-o-Meter will be wildly out if it doesn't know the proper state of the battery pack, which is what a balance charge helps to achieve).

      Depends what you want. I chose the car because I like the LFP battery and it has sufficient range for me on a day to day basis even in winter. If I had wanted to do long road trips in a hurry I'd have bought the LR, but when I'm out on the road I actually appreciate the charging speed because it means I don't have to rush to get back to the car in only 20 minutes.
      But honestly, when you can do 100 miles round trip in a day, which included an unexpected 28 miles because I had to go back for something, and get home on 30% charge, in winter, well, it will do me anyway!

      It's built to a price, but it feels and drives way better than the price tag. (Other people I know have driven other similar sized EVs which are a lot more expensive, and preferred the MG4 SE SR. e.g. Peugeot e208 might be better specced internally, but they said the feel of the car was noticeably worse, and horrible to drive compared to the MG4).

Now lets look to China, lets say Europe makes a car and exports it to China. Then we have to pay between 15 and 25% import tariffs to the Chinese government. Unfair right? What about China to USA? Yes 25%. Under trump they increased the import tariffs for cars, that's the reason why China is not exporting their cars to USA. We the EU should also increase import tariffs up to 25%. Autobahns are only in Germany and therefore distance tests at high speed on the Autobahn are quite unimportant for other users! Most likely, outside of Germany, in other European countries, especially in Eastern Europe, this (51 kWh) is quite a good "entry level long range" EV. The main thing is that it is significantly cheaper than ID.3...!!! f the MG4 turns out to be sufficiently protected against rust, then it has a very good chance of becoming a bestseller even in Eastern Europe...
