    When you used the Rode Wirelsss Go II with music...Was the music coming from of your laptop?? Just double checking. I have been using a plantonics for teaching my online yoga classes (with Microsoft windows Laptop) for years. Thinking of playing music at the end of classes. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY andall your fabulous videos 🙏

    Hi Ashley, I am a Yoga teacher from India. Thanks for your video but I want to ask that how do you listen to your students while teaching? because we can't hear students properly from 5 feet distance from Laptop.

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  11 місяців тому

      You can use airpods or another bluetooth ear bud of sort if you feel you cannot hear anyone. My classes, people don't usually talk to me as I'm demoing. If you are being conversational with your zoom teaching, you'd probably be observing up close and likey using more verbal cues than demo.

    This microphone video was so helpful! It was great to hear the voice & music comparing different products but in one video. I do not have a regular on line yoga teaching class but on occasion have the opportunity. I purchased the RODE WIRELESS GO last spring after your recommendation on another video. I love it!! Works great & students say they can hear me fine. Keep up your great work and sharing!! You are so talented and helpful!!

    Have you had any issues with the Rhode wireless holding the charge/ losing charge really quickly? I've been using Rhode for almost 2 years and already had to replace the mic and now the receiver is acting up. Rhode customer service was not too happy that I bought it on Amazon and almost denied me the warranty. Anyway, what's your experience?

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  Рік тому

      No issues here. I'm still using my Rode Wireless Go (the original) from 2020 and it's totally great. The only issue I have is the receiver button is a little finicky and I have to push it hard to turn on and off, but not a huge problem. I also have the Go II and the ME and I use all of them with no issues.

    As a follow up on my hybrid zoom drama using the Rode II I think I have it figured out!
    Downloaded Rode Central app, made sure all pieces were updated, changed the receiver to merge the two mics. On zoom, changed noise cancelation to low. Also seems to work fine plugging the USB charger right into the computer which is a nice change from the extra cables of the Rode I!

    • @AshleyHagen

      Awesome! This might seem overwhelming to some, but once you have a way that works well, you’re off and running. Good luck!

      @@AshleyHagen totally. It took a bit to figure it our cause I was used the I, but the II has so many other fun perks! Including being able to plug the charging cable directly into the USB port instead of getting the extra cables 😅 so far so good!

    I was wondering from the ones you compared, which one is better for an echoey room?

  • @wojciechczupta
    @wojciechczupta 2 роки тому

    have you tried any BT mic on ear with small boom? they usually have several mics inbuilt and use some smart differential tricks to cut off any room noise or echo. I use one in the office which works great sound wise but it's too heavy for yoga.

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  2 роки тому

      I have tested the SmartMike+ bluetooth micropohone. It was okay. But a little confusing and tricky in its simplicity. Here's my video on that: ua-cam.com/video/yI8bFw1FT-4/v-deo.html. I'm not a fan of most bluetooth microphones. They all sound very tunnel-like. Totally fine for regular zoom meetings. Not great for needing the crisp and clear audio for yoga classes.

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  2 роки тому

      Also, I don't like anything in, on, or around my ears. I have small ears and my fear is that it's going to fall or drop. It's too cumbersome to deal with.

    • @wojciechczupta
      @wojciechczupta 2 роки тому

      @@AshleyHagen thanks. Yes I've seen the other video. I'm still thinking about some kind of mono on ear with boom from jabra or plantronics. I'm just not sure it will stay firmly enough. I don't see using anything clipped to my chest as I do also asanas in lying down position. I use currently airpods from apple but they pick all the noises and they cut om chanting.

    Where did you place the blue Yeti microphone? I’m thinking of getting one instead of using the Brio microphone. The brio microphone is GREAT, but I don’t mind a little more umph!

    Why not play the music via “share computer sound? And for the singing bowls getting cut off, you can use the “enable original sound” for that, too. Please make a comparison for sharing computer sound and if your voice from the mic gets cut off. Thanks!

      Im actually more answering the question for those who maybe teach hybrid classes, where it’s in person and online. Or if you’re recording NOT on zoom. I use zoom but I don’t record with it. I use Quicktime simultaneously. It’s better quality. I can’t share my music on Quicktime.

  • @lisabutler1206

    Can you use music with zoom? How /what were you playing the music on? Your computer?

    • @AshleyHagen

      Yes, I was just playing music on my computer.

  • @rhondageske
    @rhondageske 2 роки тому

    Hi Ashley, when you're using the blue yeti are you playing music from your computer or Bluetooth speaker? I teach most of my classes on zoom and have been using a Bluetooth speaker for music. It does cut out though. If I record the zoom class with QuickTime, does it also cut in and out?

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  2 роки тому +1

      I was playing music directly from my computer for this demo.

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  2 роки тому +1

      Have you tried to set "enable original sound" in the Zoom settings? Or changed your yeti mic settings to it's dual or omni directional?

  • @breathewithkatiebrown

    These videos are super helpful! Thank you for producing them! When I teach on zoom I do an advanced “share” from zoom and share audio that way. I teach with AirPods so that way I can hear my music and the students do too. The only issue is that I can’t record on QuickTime using the AirPods as my audio source at the same time but I set my audio to the webcam for the recording and have had no complaints. Have you tried sharing your music within zoom itself? Curious to hear your thoughts!

    • @AshleyHagen
      @AshleyHagen  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, of course. I probably should have mentioned the advanced share option in the video at the beginning. I wanted to do an external music test just so people could hear what it sounds like with external music. Less about "the best way" to actually play music in class. This is more for the microphone test, and less for "how to play music in class." Also, if someone is using a phone or tablet, they don't have the option for sharing their music. There's so much I can share and test out, but only so much time for each video.
