PGA TOUR champion Grayson Murray, aged 30, has passed away.
PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan expressed deep sorrow over Murray's untimely death, stating that the loss has deeply impacted the golfing family. Murray's parents, according to Monahan, urged the continuation of tournament play in honor of their son's wishes.
Grief counselors were provided at venues hosting PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour events this week. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
Murray had a remarkable golfing career, winning three consecutive Callaway Junior World Championships from 2006 to 2008 and making a significant impact at a young age. He secured his breakthrough in 2016 with a victory at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, earning full status on the PGA TOUR for the 2016-17 season.
Despite initial success, Murray faced challenges in subsequent PGA TOUR seasons. However, in 2023, he regained his form on the Korn Ferry Tour, winning two tournaments and securing a spot back on the PGA TOUR for the following season.
In 2024, Murray clinched victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii, showcasing his talent with a remarkable playoff win. His triumph elevated him to a career-high ranking of 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
