This is the hornpipe from Henry Purcell's "Abdelazer" or "The Moor's Revenge" suite. Of course this was beautifully played yet in a slow tempo, this has to be played faster, in this case it was played this way in order to create a dramatic landscape for the dancers and the miniserie, of course.
This is FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for doing this...I have been trying to do this dance at balls, but was having to deal with the Hole in the Wall music from Becoming Jane, and it was just painful.
I don't remember exactly. I searched and searched around until I found the original track from the composer (before the speech was dubbed in for the movie). I then edited it until it was long enough to call the dance Hole in the Wall to it. :) I'll see if I can find it again.
That's good to know! I have researched it before but couldn't remember all the details. Obviously it was played slower for the sequence in the movie, but I do like it played at full tempo. Thanks for the comment! :)
The music is so inspiring and the images fit it perfectly, they are awesome! Keep up the good work, I'll be here to cheer you on, your FIRST subscriber! I really like this video!
Yes. It's from the mid 17th century. Probably 1680s or so. The "composer'', or at least the man who used it for the dance is John Playford. The dance master who made hundreds of so called country dances in the 17th century and early 18th century.
I walked down the aisle to this! :)
wow how lovely
lovely! I have danced this as Folk(ish) and even as a pseudo-minuet. It never fails to please.🎉
