"The courses at the Irish Pagan School offer an in-depth approach to Irish paganism that is based on genuine history and folklore. There is so much here for curious learners of all levels to gain knowledge and insight on their spiritual paths while avoiding the misinformation that is sadly common in popular modern paganism. I have benefited greatly from the classes and look forward to taking more."

Thank you very much for this reply! It was my question, and I gotta tell you I damn near cried hearing my name said correctly on the first go 😭 So thank you for that! I definitely picked up on the fact (via the course you put out on Lugh) that you don't personally mesh nicely with him, so I doubly appreciate you taking the time to answer this!
I should say I didn't take American Gods to be a reflection of actual Irish belief, nor do I take any fictional books or media that deal with the concepts of cultural deities as accurate depictions of that faith/spirituality/belief system. I, too, was not a fan of Gaiman's take on the topic. So I didn't ask while being under the actual impression that Lugh = leprechauns, I mostly wanted to confirm that it's a case of misunderstanding and mistranslation, as well as deliberate discrediting of pre-Christian traditions and figures.
Thank you for the advice on where to go next! I got myself a subscription so I can delve into all your courses, and I'm excited to get going. I did purchase the book about Lugh by Morgan Daimler as well, and have listened to a few of their conversations and videos on the topic. I have been a practising polytheist for 10+ years (mostly within the Norse pantheon), so I am familiar with some of the introductory concepts in your courses, but of course I'll always be learning things. Engaging with your content is a part of the year's dedication, and I'm eager to embrace my heritage from a decolonial perspective. Having been born and raised in so-called "Canada", this is an aspect very near and dear to me. Thank you once again for everything you do!

"Mixed ancestry"(or my Dad calls it "going all in"), like when my Uncle German in "Cherokee North Carolina" calls me "Celtic Healer" as well as telling my Mum today regarding having ancestral matches going all the way back to Ancient Delphi, Greece; it also connects with some Native American Elders like Hyapatia Lee(being a mix of Cherokee, Mayan, Lakota, Hawaiian, and Irish) calling me a "Rainbow Warrior"; my name is also pronounced similar to "Lugh" because it is "Luis/Lu"("Luz" meaning "light" in Spanish) lol 🔥🌧🌈🌊⛵

It comes from Peter Berrisford Ellis book Celtic myths and legends. He made stuff up to sell books to americans. And now his plamásing is everywhere as fact.
Silver lining, Peter Berrisford Ellis was following an Irish tradition in what he did. His idea is arguably a product of plamás through the ages.
Leprechauns are arguably fakelore. Their use in the culture industries marketing is close to the definition of cringe that if it came out tomorrow that they were actually plastic made in China. It wouldnt shock anyone.
And the story Echtra Fergus is arguably a brehon lawyers legal fiction. So much of it is about laws and so little of it is about the echtra/otherworld journey. That it looks like n attempt to create leading cases to use for teaching legal students. And not an attempt at literature at all.
