Main issue with team affinity is the fact the game has 99s you can get easily already within a few weeks of the game being out. After a while team affinity is stale and not worth it because it’s always 97s that are mid when you already have insane 99s already. Don’t release 99s right away.
They should make the 99s "Core" and only release a few at a time. Make anything 98 or less active-season only. Give each player only ONE 99 card unless it's a theme-based card that you can pick up early in the process that you don't have to grind your fingers off for or spend every stub you have for a 1:1000 chance to find in an over-priced pack. Nobody wants to blow 50k stubs to hit the base round and get stuck with a 10K card, especially when you are limited in the number of special packs you can buy. The pennant race packs weren't even on the market; I only got two of the five plus a duplicate, so I had to sell one and buy three off the market to get all five players, plus we only got two choice packs, so you were guaranteed to have to buy one card ff the market later if you wanted them all. The Stage 2 AL pitching mission was supposed to be 9 Ks, but they accidentally duplicated the NL pitcher mission of 7 IP, which didn't matter much since you had to grind out 8 saves from Rollie... 🤮
Gameplay isn't horrible but my biggest thing is every patch pinpoint seems to change, like one pitcher I was good with pinpoint now feels completely different, and the fact that perfect/perfect swings get punished way too much. Additionally with hitting too often will I crush a ball and it just wet farts itself to the warning track in center field making grinding a miserable experience.
I havnt picked up this game in months. It just wasnt fun anymore. And i dispise the sets and series concept. I hate that i worked for cards then just lose them. Also team afinity sucks this year. Thanks for making this vid fuzz. Im glad im not the only one frustrated with this years game.
I have to agree with you when it comes to they cater to those that make a career out of the game. Coming from someone that started nursing school in August. It was easy finishing programs and able to do whatever after. Now that I’m working and going to school. I haven’t touched the game not bc of time. But bc I spent 2 weeks to focus on classes, I’m so far behind it’s not worth trying.
That Alan Trammel card blew my mind its over 350000 coins for a card that is almost exactly to his Set 2 card that is less than 15000 coins what a crazy concept. Thank you for pointing this out. The chase card pulls are ridiculous I did a test as I so many coins and really didn’t have anything to buy so I literally pulled 15 chase packs last week and got nothing only low diamonds. Unbelievable Had I been someone that just spent actual money to buy stubs and pulled all those chase packs and gotten 0 Trouts I meant that is horrendous. How can you do that to your customers you are literally stealing from your customers.
My biggest complaint is i already have my god squad assembled before set 4 came out with its lack luster cards. Nothing to really feel like grinding for, the programs that are out are just super disappointing.
Sets just completely make collections useless until set 6 when everyone won't care about the game anymore. Not to mention the non sellables in online. It's another reason why no one cares for ranked. SDS just had a horrible approach this year
They made Events and BR basically worthless to play because of bad rewards and no sell rewards. If this wasn’t the case, it would suck less to buy chase cards because you can grind stubs instead of having to play a ton against CPU or flip on the market. Also, what happened to being able to sell monthly award cards?! That used to be worth doing if you didn’t care about the 99 at the end. And again, it made it so you could complete collections by buying cards you want/need instead of constantly grinding
I agree with everything you said. I hate sets. I love my team right now and I want to keep using them. If your going to have sets and wild cards at least let us have a wild card from each set at the same time
Another problem that I have with ranked mode is people only play it when they literally nothing else to do, so essentially the best players in the game, either that or I've just been very unlucky with matchmaking
All of these are SO true. Also since 90s are so easy to get, what’s the point of any live series cards or 80 overall diamond special cards other than BR? It’s a waste of resources
The Stage 2 portion of the pennant race section forces you to grind Wacha, Rollie, and your first Choice Pack player until you get tired of looking at them. They needed more Clemente Award-winner cards like Justin Turner, Nelson Cruz, Adam Wainwright, Yadier Molina, Anthony Rizzo, Curtis Granderson, Andrew McCutchen, Paul Konerko (maybe one with a secondary as catcher), Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Beltran, Clayton Kershaw, Tim Wake...oh, nevermind, not gonna happen is it...we just got Jeter in the 98 series, but what about Pujols, Moyer, Thome, Schilling...there were so many missed opportunities! And you're right, too many things to do to be grinding team affinity over and over again. I finished Series 1 - NL West only because I wanted to challenge myself to build the best Rockies team I could (great hitting, but horrible pitching) and try to win with it as much as possible, but that was all before discovering CostCo Headquarters (which I got tired of seeing so often and tore out the parking lot, the store, and the neighborhood and replaced it with huge apartments, a waterfront, and beachfront buildings..."Buh-Bye CostCo").
I think the best part about these modes is the overalls gradually increasing as the year goes on they completely took that away. Look at madden they even lowered overalls to start the year.
Also agree with you if they were gonna have 99’s the whole year change the players up they literally dropped the same players the whole year they could of gave some lesser known guys some great cards instead they jsut recycled the same names
Still playing 18 RTTS because it's less gimmicky than the newer ones & it has Bowman scout day. Wish RTTS had a longer/more in depth story/progression. For example, it would be cool to go through a Perfect Game combine before getting drafted & then grind through low & high A before getting to AA or AAA.
I feel like 2 wild cards would be cool. You could use one for your captain and one for your favorite card. or maybe they could introduce a captain wild card idk
They just need to do double or triple pxp weekends. If you could earn pxp faster not only do you build your players better & faster but you’d get through the offline content faster.
If they keep sets they need to make set 1 like 90 overalls and gradually increase each set so it’s worth it to grind for new cards and also get rid of cpu missions especially for topps now like just make it moments Only 99s in each set should be collection cards until set 4 or 5
A easier way to get a lot of the team affinity cards is March to October I do it all the time and it’s really fun so if you ever do have a time to do it, I suggest it. Also, you don’t have to play every single game in the season it simulates a lot of your games
Man I play both mlb and 2k and Fuzzy is 99% right about these issues but from someone who plays 2k where the issues are literally not being able to play because the servers are down, going to play with your friends and getting sent to another server, and having to pay 100 dollars day 1 or won’t be able to compete for months, I’m happy with how mlb the show is.
Chase players should be core. I wanted to use WBC Ohtani all year because he's insane and I paid for him. But you can't even WC him in some events either. Offline grinding is okayish only because I can get practice in with pinpoint. But I hate grinding out similar cards each month. ALSO Fuzzy Cleveland Theme teams are hurt the worst by captains because we have NOBODY to use in the bullpen except Clase Brad Hand and I think Henteges. That's it. But with sets, Clase is a WC and you can't use Grady so if you want Grady you have to use Live Series Clase which lets be honest, is AWFUL. Our bullpen is full of silver and bronzes. Why would I ever use a Cleveland theme team? Like sure hitters but no Pitchers. That's poor implementation. Also Online rewards becoming no sell and the rewards we've gotten are just awful this year. I have no desire to do them. I did the BR program once for Rob Dibble... I never used him outside of a handful of times. But hey NO SELL means Im stuck with that hard work it took to get him.....
REAL LIST OF SHIT THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED 1) HOME RUN OR BUST 99% of the time you get a good hit it’s either a home run or an out. There are never doubles in the gaps, balls down the line, or balls that the outfielders can’t get to. Every good hit is either a line out deep fly out or home run. 2) OVR VARRIANCE The days of all 125s for every card need to end. They need to make the stats of cards not as good across the board. They can make the max attribute 99 so each +1 increase actually matters like in 2k. For ex: a top card in the game can be 89 94 99 91 for contact + power. EX: Only judge deserves 99 power both sides for current players. And only Luis arraez deserves 99 contact for both sides. 3) PITCHING It is waaaaay too easy and takes zero skill. They need to make pinpoint way harder to where about 33-50% of the time you are missing your spot like in real life. Make it take actual skill to throw an inside sinker instead of allowing players to spam them all game. 4) CARD GRINDING They need to change every single aspect of card grinding to where it is ALL ONLINE. Want to get player of the month? Get 30 hits and 10 hrs in online games, or go 3-3 with a player online. Every way to get a card needs to be through winning and stats in ONLINE GAMES. Offline grinding is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in a video game and makes no fucking sense. 5) IF SOMEONE QUITS FROM A GAME, BAN THEM FOR 3 HOURS. This is so every time you score in the first inning or two the loser does not quit immediately. It makes it real life baseball. 6) SETS NEED TO DIE Why should I have to restart my team after spending hours and hours grinding for those cards? It’s so stupid 7) RELEASE MORE CARDS There needs to be way more cards in the game that are usable so you don’t see the same 5 cards every game. It’s not that hard to release more cards and make some good ones easily attainable.
What they should’ve done for sets is what they’ve always done Reward players for collecting cards from a certain set instead of all the sets being part of a season and you collect season cards Like for example, Kaiju is it’s own set that you collect for rewards, then incognito, then all star, then future star, and etc Also they need to just do away with seasons and team affinity Team affinity is completely pointless when 99’s are readily available and it’s INSANE to grind that much for it Seasons render all the progress you make on a set completely pointless when you only get them for a month They need to go back to other programs and featured programs like last year

I LOVE MLB The Show! This year it stinks. I don’t want to spend my free time playing Patrick Corbin and the Nationals. I want to play against real kids and I actually want to use insanely good cards, but because of sets I can’t. My main problem is there is too much grinding in Team Affinity and just in general.
I’ve kind of liked the cpu grinding but I’m also not really good at the game so it’s really hard for me to play online, and also this is the first mlb the show game I’ve ever played in diamond dynasty
I feel like they went away from no money spent and made it virtually impossible to get stubs without spending some sort of money. I remember my first ever time playing this game was in 21, and I would grind the BR program and have the time of my life because I could get the most expensive card in that pack, and sell it for 500-600k and improve my god squad. Or I could keep that card knowing over time it’ll eventually increase in value. I’ve never had so much fun as playing BR knowing I’m going to either get an amazing card at the end, or a ton of stubs. The fact that they made the BR program players non sellable is just completely crazy and one of the many reasons I don’t play anymore. Like I’m actually mad at myself for spending 70 dollars on this game I feel like it was just a waste
I like the content. But i absolutely freaking hate team affinity and the amount of cpu grinding. Its humanly impossible if you have a job and or anything else in life thats not video games, to be able to keep up with the grinding. Its too much. And that doesnt mean if rather play online all freaking day either. I simply dont want to play the damn game this freaking much.
On point with everything man. The game from a content and grind perspective has taken a massive step backwards. Just not sure they'll be able to make any changes before MLB 25
I've said since the beginning that the way they chose to do sets is all wrong. Allowing just 1 card out of the set is way too restrictive, but allowing full access to cards from the previous set is also way too open. There needs to be some sort of compromise where players are allowed to use more older cards while also being forced to engage with new content.
He's right about too much grinding against the CPU. Previous games I would be able to keep up with my DD team just by playing ranked seasons or events and some BR. I found that i gave up grinding mid june to july. never finished the monthly or topps now programs because they drop these programs with so much shit to do and so much offline grinding just for the cards to be worthless in the next set and the fact that cards they come out with every set are the same players, just slightly different stats. Adding the set limit and wild card was the worst feature by far this year. Currently the only thing keeping me going is march to october and only for the fun of it. i could care less about my DD team anymore. Hopefully next year they change up some of what he mentioned.
Your last comment brings up a very valid point. I think for them to make the Sets & Seasons format work they need to greatly expand the amount of overall Legends that are in the game to be able to keep things fresh. Rehashing the same names over and over just with different card art is pointless.
I do not see a path for success with sets/seasons in a YEARLY released game. Especially a game that dies off dramatically after 5-6 months. This content model works in FREE 2 PLAY games and even then you are NEVER locked out of previous things you grinded for. I haven’t played since the first week of August. I would come back today if set restrictions were removed.
I first like the Sets&Seasons-idea … but then realized, that the biggest miss is constantly building and improving my team is the best thing in an ultimate team mode … They can put out some legends, but make them better slowly … Let us do that in summer … and let the game peak in October putting out playoff 99s and the best legends there are. also: Collecting was fun … until 23. And my personal biggest L: Shield Woods !!! It is a disgrace to a baseball sim
Here’s an idea to have multiple cards of the same player . Rather than sets it can be set up almost as a “blueprint “ gun in call of duty so of course you have the main card but you have different variants of the same card all with respective unlock grinds but you can choose which one you want to use regardless of the season or set just so long as you have it unlocked .
I mostly play offline (I am so bad at this game I can't play online) and realized during set 2 that like. I have no reason to do DD in that case because getting the cards does nothing for me. I can just play an offline mode like Franchise and have whichever legends I want. DD just feels like you're grinding for new cards to grind with.
I have two big gripes. The first one is the main program is so plain and cookie cutter. No themes its just lack luster. Second is the collections. It felt good to get vouchers and earn those collections, now you can get collections done by almost grinding topps now. Super weak. Sds is soooo lazy this year
As somebody that only plays franchise mode i love MLB the show. In my opinion they have the best franchise mode of any sports game. If i had to find something to improve on it would be the CPU tampering with your roster and promoting players, switching lineups, etc.
Might be an unpopular suggestion but I think the sets tbing is hurt a lot by how 99s require work to get but not enough work. If each season you had to restock your roster with 97s and a few very hard to get 99s it might make the grind feel less crazy. But instead you feel like you’re kinda forced to upgrade every position to a 99 just to keep up with everyone
I think the problem with the overalls of new cards was the whole every card will be in the 90s every time, so later after giving us basically 99s like in the first two sets now they have to give us 97 and 95 we got to used. I think the slow build up of better cards later in the season was better but giving us some 99s here and there
Yeah they need to limit players that are wild especially relieving pictures because there was very few really good relieving pictures that you can use without them being wild
1. I am not happy with how short some of these seasons are. I would just do 1 long continuous season that way you get all the cards. And with each new season they just add on to the previous one. And keep it going. 2. I like it how they brought team affinity collection rewards. It makes feel rewarding. For those who don’t want to play ranked, battle royal, and events. 3. I do agree that they could make the chase cards as core cards. And that they could not be hidden behind a pay wall of stubs. And make it a way that you can get them through different methods of grinding. 4. Get rid of battle royal and events. And just make a big ranked program. Because events can be limited only to about a week sometimes a week and half. And battle royal paying 1,500 stubs each time to draft a new team. By combining all three you could have a better chance at getting more 99s. Without having to pay stubs. And as well with new ranked season you could get a pack with the previous ranked season. That way you can get two free 99s from different ranked seasons. 5. Get rid of the wild card rule. And stop recycling the same 99 overall cards. 6. Put a cap on the price of selling cards. For under 100,000 stubs. That way you don’t get ripped off for spending over 600,000 stubs for a Mike Trout card as an example. 7. Make it a lot faster to complete team affinity. I noticed that you get about 500 plus exp with a pitcher. When you do a 9 inning game against the cpu. And it takes about 4-5 9 inning games just to get 2,000 exp for a team in each division. And I wish they would lower it that way you can finish team affinity a lot faster. And it does take a lot longer with hitters. It would be great if there was a way hitters would be rewarded more for there stats with hits, stolen bases, and walks.
Fuzzy we understand. U and the rest of the MLB community has had up and down feelings about this game. We want them to be better and not just MID- good.
I hate the idea of wild cards because if you put one player that is required to be wild card that you grind so much for and than if you want to you use another card you have to take out the wild card you already have in your lineup.
THe understand that a huge prortion of the players liek to play vs. the CPU but they can't make money off fanchise. So they pushed CPU gaming into Diamond Dynasty.
I have bought every single MLB The Show since the beginning except for when Puig was on the cover. This year was the second exception. I just looked at the seasons and the fact that cards were going to be locked and that was it for me. Maybe next year.
When the 1st and 2nd seasons came out I was balancing them with going to work. It took me a while but I finished both seasons of team affinity. Then season 3 came around and I was like nah I’m not doing that again. I love mlb the show but the grinding has gotten to a point where I had to uninstall the game.
CPU grinding is so boring man. It got to the point where I stopped playing the game after 2 months. Let me grind ONLINE. Grinding offline all day is sooooo boring. Once Im done offline grinding, there's new content to grind offline, it feels like I never get to actually play online.

I don't play events, ranked or BR anymore because its not fun. Id rather play conquest and vs cpu. I upped the difficulty and racked in the exp and pxp. Especially with the exp created stadium. I love the pacing of content.
This is very long but it’s how I feel about all your points and this is the best way I can get it so. CHASE PACKS I completely agree with the fact that chase packs/players need to change. If you make chase players core, you screw over the people who can’t get the chase pack players and makes the game even less play to win then it’s been this year. I don’t know what the solution to that is but I agree it needs to be changed. CAPTAINS I completely agree with you on all captains should be core and should allow you to use any card. They also need to think. For example, the rays TA4 captain is Randy Arozarena. The best card in the rays binder (arguably) is 99 HRD Randy Arozarena. But you can’t use him. Find a way to fix that. CPU GRINDING/TEAM AFFINITY On CPU grinding, I do agree they need to go back to where you can make progress online or offline. The current way sucks for online players and they need to fix it. And TA needs to not be collection fodder. The game has turned into a collectathon. SETS AND SEASONS Sets and seasons is not the problem. On the thing where you’re saying the 97s aren’t worth it. It’s the same thing as in years past but instead of using the 95s-97s in April-July/August and the 99s in August and beyond. Now you can use some of the 99s day 1 and the lesser cards later. I do agree about that sets are too long. They kind of blow their loads immediately on launch of the seasons and then it feels slow for the rest of the season. You get 1 program a week but most people can complete it in a weekend and then you have a week of nothing. Overall, I’ve enjoyed MLB 23. The game started off incredible and I was having so much fun but now you’re right it kind of feels like homework. I do believe sets and seasons will come back next year and I hope they take everyone’s advice and fix the problems.
We should gotten more legends and have more captains and different legends behind each set. First set should just been WBC players and topps, then work each season having a theme type. Like set 3 should been all legends from 1920-1960 and so on. Then set 5 should be fan favorites. Give us player we voted or loved like Barlcon Colon 99, max Pete Alazar. Like cards we want could even could been something huge make us want stay in set 5 before releasing set 6.
I get the chase players by playing the events getting the 20 wins and selling the cards u get after 10 and 20 wins. You can easily make 300k or more in one day like that. If u get 30 wins you get the rewind so because of this i got vladdy, cedric, javi baez all basically for free just grind the events. Events card flipping is how i got trout for 670k
Have 3 sets. Set 1: 99 attribute cap. Set 2: 110 attribute cap. Set 3: 125 attribute cap. Bring back MLB the show 17 rating tiers. Programs are sets cards. All cards that come from packs on the market are core.
I used to be addicted but seasons ruined it with the locks on old cards I worked hard and got my whole team to parallel 4 and then I couldn’t use them as a college student that works part time as well I don’t have time for that and would only be playing franchise stopped completely with DD
I don't ever want to play online period. I stink. From bad internet connection and TV to having a depth perception problem with my eyes. I can barley see to hit period against the CPU. I want to be able to unlock cards without playing a single online game. But no only certain cards usually the best ones you have to play online which I stink. I'm currently 5 and 36 in the event. And 96 and 95 in ranked. I'll never be any good period. I'll never get enough stubs playing offline to buy any of the online cards usually playing offline or enough cards to get the sets. So, people are forced into misery who suck. Just my rant. I love baseball. But it is torture to have to play online and get your brains beat in almost every game. "Money grabbing" by SDS to get the same player in 8 different versions of their cards. Misery.
They waited until season 5 to drop 99 overall team affinity cards. They should’ve dropped 99 overall cards for team affinity season 4. But they didn’t. The sets and seasons model was so garbage. It made the game so dead so fast. Hopefully they remove the sets and seasons model for mlb 24.
I actually like the sets and seasons this year. I’m a grinder because I suck at online. I like that SDS has made the showdowns easier. I had given up on playing them, which did make TA a longer grind for me. Having two wild cards is reasonable for those who played ranked.
Out of all the packs Ive opened I have not got a single chase pack......Ive gotten 2 chase packs this season......One was from buying a 50 pack and one was from the lucky diamond pull when youre full up on the exps. I think both of my chase packs gave me purple diamonds so I didnt even get to sniff a good card from them
Nice video Fuzzy, the focus of offline grinding and making the set 1-3 eventually be unusable made this game super stale for the amount of work for new content. Same layout set in set out for 3 collection cards. Making more wildcards for outdated cards. More cards eligible under captain boost should activate more wildcards. Spin the wheel xp path thing is wack. Scrap it or modify the rewards for playing. Make an exhibition 6 innings online match with 95 overall cap with no season restrictions. Include this gamemode to new programs in the game. Content within the Events have been miserable this year. Once again ty for making a heads up for this game.
I thought the gameplay last year was bad, but the dd format of this year is way worse than can be made up for with the improvements. What a nightmare slog of a game. I put it down when season 3 came out

I'd like sets to go away. I get the idea but preferred older mlb games. Maybe the show can boost early cards as months go on to stay relevant. Right now, it's not worth it to grid cards or save up for certain ones since they can't be used so quickly. There are some set 2 cards I'd like to finally get, but don't since I can't use them for a while.
i wish they could make grinding a lil easier and less foul offs other than that the game is perfect if you get mad because you get robbed of home runs or diving plays you can't even be mad it's based off skill now and not luck

Game is like doing Algebra. I don’t want to do arithmetic I wanna play baseball. Stats and laws of average have all disappeared and that is half of the game. Do away with cards altogether is only logical solution

I havnt picked up this game in months. It just wasnt fun anymore. And i dispise the sets and series concept. I hate that i worked for cards then just lose them. Also team afinity sucks this year. Thanks for making this vid fuzz. Im glad im not the only one frustrated with this years game.

I have to agree with you when it comes to they cater to those that make a career out of the game. Coming from someone that started nursing school in August. It was easy finishing programs and able to do whatever after. Now that I’m working and going to school. I haven’t touched the game not bc of time. But bc I spent 2 weeks to focus on classes, I’m so far behind it’s not worth trying.
That Alan Trammel card blew my mind its over 350000 coins for a card that is almost exactly to his Set 2 card that is less than 15000 coins what a crazy concept. Thank you for pointing this out. The chase card pulls are ridiculous I did a test as I so many coins and really didn’t have anything to buy so I literally pulled 15 chase packs last week and got nothing only low diamonds. Unbelievable Had I been someone that just spent actual money to buy stubs and pulled all those chase packs and gotten 0 Trouts I meant that is horrendous. How can you do that to your customers you are literally stealing from your customers.
My biggest complaint is i already have my god squad assembled before set 4 came out with its lack luster cards. Nothing to really feel like grinding for, the programs that are out are just super disappointing.
Sets just completely make collections useless until set 6 when everyone won't care about the game anymore. Not to mention the non sellables in online. It's another reason why no one cares for ranked. SDS just had a horrible approach this year
They made Events and BR basically worthless to play because of bad rewards and no sell rewards. If this wasn’t the case, it would suck less to buy chase cards because you can grind stubs instead of having to play a ton against CPU or flip on the market.
Also, what happened to being able to sell monthly award cards?! That used to be worth doing if you didn’t care about the 99 at the end. And again, it made it so you could complete collections by buying cards you want/need instead of constantly grinding
I agree with everything you said. I hate sets. I love my team right now and I want to keep using them. If your going to have sets and wild cards at least let us have a wild card from each set at the same time
There should be a CORE 99 choice pack at the end of every TA. Could be a captain with wild boosts for every team
Another problem that I have with ranked mode is people only play it when they literally nothing else to do, so essentially the best players in the game, either that or I've just been very unlucky with matchmaking

The Stage 2 portion of the pennant race section forces you to grind Wacha, Rollie, and your first Choice Pack player until you get tired of looking at them. They needed more Clemente Award-winner cards like Justin Turner, Nelson Cruz, Adam Wainwright, Yadier Molina, Anthony Rizzo, Curtis Granderson, Andrew McCutchen, Paul Konerko (maybe one with a secondary as catcher), Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Beltran, Clayton Kershaw, Tim Wake...oh, nevermind, not gonna happen is it...we just got Jeter in the 98 series, but what about Pujols, Moyer, Thome, Schilling...there were so many missed opportunities! And you're right, too many things to do to be grinding team affinity over and over again. I finished Series 1 - NL West only because I wanted to challenge myself to build the best Rockies team I could (great hitting, but horrible pitching) and try to win with it as much as possible, but that was all before discovering CostCo Headquarters (which I got tired of seeing so often and tore out the parking lot, the store, and the neighborhood and replaced it with huge apartments, a waterfront, and beachfront buildings..."Buh-Bye CostCo").
I think the best part about these modes is the overalls gradually increasing as the year goes on they completely took that away. Look at madden they even lowered overalls to start the year.
Also agree with you if they were gonna have 99’s the whole year change the players up they literally dropped the same players the whole year they could of gave some lesser known guys some great cards instead they jsut recycled the same names

Still playing 18 RTTS because it's less gimmicky than the newer ones & it has Bowman scout day. Wish RTTS had a longer/more in depth story/progression. For example, it would be cool to go through a Perfect Game combine before getting drafted & then grind through low & high A before getting to AA or AAA.
I feel like 2 wild cards would be cool. You could use one for your captain and one for your favorite card. or maybe they could introduce a captain wild card idk

They just need to do double or triple pxp weekends. If you could earn pxp faster not only do you build your players better & faster but you’d get through the offline content faster.
If they keep sets they need to make set 1 like 90 overalls and gradually increase each set so it’s worth it to grind for new cards and also get rid of cpu missions especially for topps now like just make it moments
Only 99s in each set should be collection cards until set 4 or 5
A easier way to get a lot of the team affinity cards is March to October I do it all the time and it’s really fun so if you ever do have a time to do it, I suggest it. Also, you don’t have to play every single game in the season it simulates a lot of your games

Man I play both mlb and 2k and Fuzzy is 99% right about these issues but from someone who plays 2k where the issues are literally not being able to play because the servers are down, going to play with your friends and getting sent to another server, and having to pay 100 dollars day 1 or won’t be able to compete for months, I’m happy with how mlb the show is.
Chase players should be core. I wanted to use WBC Ohtani all year because he's insane and I paid for him. But you can't even WC him in some events either. Offline grinding is okayish only because I can get practice in with pinpoint. But I hate grinding out similar cards each month. ALSO Fuzzy Cleveland Theme teams are hurt the worst by captains because we have NOBODY to use in the bullpen except Clase Brad Hand and I think Henteges. That's it. But with sets, Clase is a WC and you can't use Grady so if you want Grady you have to use Live Series Clase which lets be honest, is AWFUL. Our bullpen is full of silver and bronzes. Why would I ever use a Cleveland theme team? Like sure hitters but no Pitchers. That's poor implementation.
Also Online rewards becoming no sell and the rewards we've gotten are just awful this year. I have no desire to do them. I did the BR program once for Rob Dibble... I never used him outside of a handful of times. But hey NO SELL means Im stuck with that hard work it took to get him.....
MLB the show only changes the orders about how to release 99 cards and also I hate duplicates of 99 cards. These players should be unique just MLB 20
REAL LIST OF SHIT THAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED
1) HOME RUN OR BUST
99% of the time you get a good hit it’s either a home run or an out. There are never doubles in the gaps, balls down the line, or balls that the outfielders can’t get to. Every good hit is either a line out deep fly out or home run.
2) OVR VARRIANCE
The days of all 125s for every card need to end. They need to make the stats of cards not as good across the board. They can make the max attribute 99 so each +1 increase actually matters like in 2k. For ex: a top card in the game can be 89 94 99 91 for contact + power. EX: Only judge deserves 99 power both sides for current players. And only Luis arraez deserves 99 contact for both sides.
3) PITCHING
It is waaaaay too easy and takes zero skill. They need to make pinpoint way harder to where about 33-50% of the time you are missing your spot like in real life. Make it take actual skill to throw an inside sinker instead of allowing players to spam them all game.
4) CARD GRINDING
They need to change every single aspect of card grinding to where it is ALL ONLINE. Want to get player of the month? Get 30 hits and 10 hrs in online games, or go 3-3 with a player online. Every way to get a card needs to be through winning and stats in ONLINE GAMES. Offline grinding is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in a video game and makes no fucking sense.
5) IF SOMEONE QUITS FROM A GAME, BAN THEM FOR 3 HOURS.
This is so every time you score in the first inning or two the loser does not quit immediately. It makes it real life baseball.
6) SETS NEED TO DIE
Why should I have to restart my team after spending hours and hours grinding for those cards? It’s so stupid
7) RELEASE MORE CARDS
There needs to be way more cards in the game that are usable so you don’t see the same 5 cards every game. It’s not that hard to release more cards and make some good ones easily attainable.

What they should’ve done for sets is what they’ve always done
Reward players for collecting cards from a certain set instead of all the sets being part of a season and you collect season cards
Like for example, Kaiju is it’s own set that you collect for rewards, then incognito, then all star, then future star, and etc
Also they need to just do away with seasons and team affinity
Team affinity is completely pointless when 99’s are readily available and it’s INSANE to grind that much for it
Seasons render all the progress you make on a set completely pointless when you only get them for a month
They need to go back to other programs and featured programs like last year

I LOVE MLB The Show! This year it stinks. I don’t want to spend my free time playing Patrick Corbin and the Nationals. I want to play against real kids and I actually want to use insanely good cards, but because of sets I can’t. My main problem is there is too much grinding in Team Affinity and just in general.
I’ve kind of liked the cpu grinding but I’m also not really good at the game so it’s really hard for me to play online, and also this is the first mlb the show game I’ve ever played in diamond dynasty
I feel like they went away from no money spent and made it virtually impossible to get stubs without spending some sort of money. I remember my first ever time playing this game was in 21, and I would grind the BR program and have the time of my life because I could get the most expensive card in that pack, and sell it for 500-600k and improve my god squad. Or I could keep that card knowing over time it’ll eventually increase in value. I’ve never had so much fun as playing BR knowing I’m going to either get an amazing card at the end, or a ton of stubs. The fact that they made the BR program players non sellable is just completely crazy and one of the many reasons I don’t play anymore. Like I’m actually mad at myself for spending 70 dollars on this game I feel like it was just a waste
I play mostly offline so it doesn’t bother me but they could put the packs and some cards online as well as being in programs
I like the content. But i absolutely freaking hate team affinity and the amount of cpu grinding. Its humanly impossible if you have a job and or anything else in life thats not video games, to be able to keep up with the grinding. Its too much. And that doesnt mean if rather play online all freaking day either. I simply dont want to play the damn game this freaking much.

I've said since the beginning that the way they chose to do sets is all wrong. Allowing just 1 card out of the set is way too restrictive, but allowing full access to cards from the previous set is also way too open. There needs to be some sort of compromise where players are allowed to use more older cards while also being forced to engage with new content.
He's right about too much grinding against the CPU. Previous games I would be able to keep up with my DD team just by playing ranked seasons or events and some BR. I found that i gave up grinding mid june to july. never finished the monthly or topps now programs because they drop these programs with so much shit to do and so much offline grinding just for the cards to be worthless in the next set and the fact that cards they come out with every set are the same players, just slightly different stats. Adding the set limit and wild card was the worst feature by far this year. Currently the only thing keeping me going is march to october and only for the fun of it. i could care less about my DD team anymore. Hopefully next year they change up some of what he mentioned.
Your last comment brings up a very valid point. I think for them to make the Sets & Seasons format work they need to greatly expand the amount of overall Legends that are in the game to be able to keep things fresh.
Rehashing the same names over and over just with different card art is pointless.
I do not see a path for success with sets/seasons in a YEARLY released game. Especially a game that dies off dramatically after 5-6 months. This content model works in FREE 2 PLAY games and even then you are NEVER locked out of previous things you grinded for. I haven’t played since the first week of August. I would come back today if set restrictions were removed.
They should make it to when you get a player to parallel 5 he turns into a core card
I first like the Sets&Seasons-idea … but then realized, that the biggest miss is constantly building and improving my team is the best thing in an ultimate team mode …
They can put out some legends, but make them better slowly … Let us do that in summer … and let the game peak in October putting out playoff 99s and the best legends there are.

Here’s an idea to have multiple cards of the same player . Rather than sets it can be set up almost as a “blueprint “ gun in call of duty so of course you have the main card but you have different variants of the same card all with respective unlock grinds but you can choose which one you want to use regardless of the season or set just so long as you have it unlocked .
Tbh i just play with free cards and never grind offline, its about your skill at the game not the cards
I mostly play offline (I am so bad at this game I can't play online) and realized during set 2 that like. I have no reason to do DD in that case because getting the cards does nothing for me. I can just play an offline mode like Franchise and have whichever legends I want. DD just feels like you're grinding for new cards to grind with.
I have two big gripes. The first one is the main program is so plain and cookie cutter. No themes its just lack luster. Second is the collections. It felt good to get vouchers and earn those collections, now you can get collections done by almost grinding topps now. Super weak. Sds is soooo lazy this year

As somebody that only plays franchise mode i love MLB the show. In my opinion they have the best franchise mode of any sports game. If i had to find something to improve on it would be the CPU tampering with your roster and promoting players, switching lineups, etc.
Might be an unpopular suggestion but I think the sets tbing is hurt a lot by how 99s require work to get but not enough work. If each season you had to restock your roster with 97s and a few very hard to get 99s it might make the grind feel less crazy. But instead you feel like you’re kinda forced to upgrade every position to a 99 just to keep up with everyone
I think the problem with the overalls of new cards was the whole every card will be in the 90s every time, so later after giving us basically 99s like in the first two sets now they have to give us 97 and 95 we got to used. I think the slow build up of better cards later in the season was better but giving us some 99s here and there
Yeah they need to limit players that are wild especially relieving pictures because there was very few really good relieving pictures that you can use without them being wild

1. I am not happy with how short some of these seasons are. I would just do 1 long continuous season that way you get all the cards. And with each new season they just add on to the previous one. And keep it going.
2. I like it how they brought team affinity collection rewards. It makes feel rewarding. For those who don’t want to play ranked, battle royal, and events.
3. I do agree that they could make the chase cards as core cards. And that they could not be hidden behind a pay wall of stubs. And make it a way that you can get them through different methods of grinding.
4. Get rid of battle royal and events. And just make a big ranked program. Because events can be limited only to about a week sometimes a week and half. And battle royal paying 1,500 stubs each time to draft a new team. By combining all three you could have a better chance at getting more 99s. Without having to pay stubs. And as well with new ranked season you could get a pack with the previous ranked season. That way you can get two free 99s from different ranked seasons.
5. Get rid of the wild card rule. And stop recycling the same 99 overall cards.
6. Put a cap on the price of selling cards. For under 100,000 stubs. That way you don’t get ripped off for spending over 600,000 stubs for a Mike Trout card as an example.
7. Make it a lot faster to complete team affinity. I noticed that you get about 500 plus exp with a pitcher. When you do a 9 inning game against the cpu. And it takes about 4-5 9 inning games just to get 2,000 exp for a team in each division. And I wish they would lower it that way you can finish team affinity a lot faster. And it does take a lot longer with hitters. It would be great if there was a way hitters would be rewarded more for there stats with hits, stolen bases, and walks.
Fuzzy we understand. U and the rest of the MLB community has had up and down feelings about this game. We want them to be better and not just MID- good.
I hate the idea of wild cards because if you put one player that is required to be wild card that you grind so much for and than if you want to you use another card you have to take out the wild card you already have in your lineup.
THe understand that a huge prortion of the players liek to play vs. the CPU but they can't make money off fanchise. So they pushed CPU gaming into Diamond Dynasty.

I have bought every single MLB The Show since the beginning except for when Puig was on the cover. This year was the second exception. I just looked at the seasons and the fact that cards were going to be locked and that was it for me. Maybe next year.
When the 1st and 2nd seasons came out I was balancing them with going to work. It took me a while but I finished both seasons of team affinity. Then season 3 came around and I was like nah I’m not doing that again. I love mlb the show but the grinding has gotten to a point where I had to uninstall the game.
CPU grinding is so boring man. It got to the point where I stopped playing the game after 2 months. Let me grind ONLINE. Grinding offline all day is sooooo boring. Once Im done offline grinding, there's new content to grind offline, it feels like I never get to actually play online.
I might be wrong, but I feel like the last month of content has been a lot better, but the previous 3 seasons drove everyone off the game

I found no point in even playing online because I had to grind so much for the other stuff. And the rewards were trash for the most part.

I don't play events, ranked or BR anymore because its not fun. Id rather play conquest and vs cpu. I upped the difficulty and racked in the exp and pxp. Especially with the exp created stadium.

CHASE PACKS
I completely agree with the fact that chase packs/players need to change. If you make chase players core, you screw over the people who can’t get the chase pack players and makes the game even less play to win then it’s been this year. I don’t know what the solution to that is but I agree it needs to be changed.
CAPTAINS
I completely agree with you on all captains should be core and should allow you to use any card. They also need to think. For example, the rays TA4 captain is Randy Arozarena. The best card in the rays binder (arguably) is 99 HRD Randy Arozarena. But you can’t use him. Find a way to fix that.
CPU GRINDING/TEAM AFFINITY
On CPU grinding, I do agree they need to go back to where you can make progress online or offline. The current way sucks for online players and they need to fix it. And TA needs to not be collection fodder. The game has turned into a collectathon.
SETS AND SEASONS
Sets and seasons is not the problem. On the thing where you’re saying the 97s aren’t worth it. It’s the same thing as in years past but instead of using the 95s-97s in April-July/August and the 99s in August and beyond. Now you can use some of the 99s day 1 and the lesser cards later. I do agree about that sets are too long. They kind of blow their loads immediately on launch of the seasons and then it feels slow for the rest of the season. You get 1 program a week but most people can complete it in a weekend and then you have a week of nothing.
Overall, I’ve enjoyed MLB 23. The game started off incredible and I was having so much fun but now you’re right it kind of feels like homework. I do believe sets and seasons will come back next year and I hope they take everyone’s advice and fix the problems.
We should gotten more legends and have more captains and different legends behind each set. First set should just been WBC players and topps, then work each season having a theme type. Like set 3 should been all legends from 1920-1960 and so on. Then set 5 should be fan favorites. Give us player we voted or loved like Barlcon Colon 99, max Pete Alazar. Like cards we want could even could been something huge make us want stay in set 5 before releasing set 6.
I get the chase players by playing the events getting the 20 wins and selling the cards u get after 10 and 20 wins. You can easily make 300k or more in one day like that. If u get 30 wins you get the rewind so because of this i got vladdy, cedric, javi baez all basically for free just grind the events. Events card flipping is how i got trout for 670k
Have 3 sets. Set 1: 99 attribute cap. Set 2: 110 attribute cap. Set 3: 125 attribute cap.

Programs are sets cards. All cards that come from packs on the market are core.

I used to be addicted but seasons ruined it with the locks on old cards I worked hard and got my whole team to parallel 4 and then I couldn’t use them as a college student that works part time as well I don’t have time for that and would only be playing franchise stopped completely with DD
I don't ever want to play online period. I stink. From bad internet connection and TV to having a depth perception problem with my eyes. I can barley see to hit period against the CPU. I want to be able to unlock cards without playing a single online game. But no only certain cards usually the best ones you have to play online which I stink. I'm currently 5 and 36 in the event. And 96 and 95 in ranked. I'll never be any good period. I'll never get enough stubs playing offline to buy any of the online cards usually playing offline or enough cards to get the sets. So, people are forced into misery who suck. Just my rant. I love baseball. But it is torture to have to play online and get your brains beat in almost every game. "Money grabbing" by SDS to get the same player in 8 different versions of their cards. Misery.
They have to fix when people quit the game and you freeze so you have to quit your entire game in order for you to continue

They waited until season 5 to drop 99 overall team affinity cards. They should’ve dropped 99 overall cards for team affinity season 4. But they didn’t. The sets and seasons model was so garbage. It made the game so dead so fast. Hopefully they remove the sets and seasons model for mlb 24.
As a Father and having a full time job it's very hard to keep up with the game and have fun. I like your ideas.

I actually like the sets and seasons this year. I’m a grinder because I suck at online. I like that SDS has made the showdowns easier. I had given up on playing them, which did make TA a longer grind for me. Having two wild cards is reasonable for those who played ranked.
Out of all the packs Ive opened I have not got a single chase pack......Ive gotten 2 chase packs this season......One was from buying a 50 pack and one was from the lucky diamond pull when youre full up on the exps. I think both of my chase packs gave me purple diamonds so I didnt even get to sniff a good card from them
Nice video Fuzzy, the focus of offline grinding and making the set 1-3 eventually be unusable made this game super stale for the amount of work for new content. Same layout set in set out for 3 collection cards.
Making more wildcards for outdated cards. More cards eligible under captain boost should activate more wildcards.
Spin the wheel xp path thing is wack. Scrap it or modify the rewards for playing.
Make an exhibition 6 innings online match with 95 overall cap with no season restrictions. Include this gamemode to new programs in the game. Content within the Events have been miserable this year. Once again ty for making a heads up for this game.

I'd like sets to go away. I get the idea but preferred older mlb games. Maybe the show can boost early cards as months go on to stay relevant. Right now, it's not worth it to grid cards or save up for certain ones since they can't be used so quickly. There are some set 2 cards I'd like to finally get, but don't since I can't use them for a while.
i wish they could make grinding a lil easier and less foul offs other than that the game is perfect if you get mad because you get robbed of home runs or diving plays you can't even be mad it's based off skill now and not luck

Game is like doing Algebra. I don’t want to do arithmetic I wanna play baseball. Stats and laws of average have all disappeared and that is half of the game. Do away with cards altogether is only logical solution
