the eldest of the group is basically emotional support for the group and someone who the leader can rely on. this way, chaewon doesn't need to take all the weight on her shoulders

I also think another reason she choose this role is due her experience as Idol, as she is the one with the most experience ones. She know how hard is become public figures, and it will become even harder for younger people like Eunchae & Kazuha. This decision make her automatically become the mother & mentor for other members, which she also did in IZ*ONE.
it's easing Chaewon to become leader, easing other member to be open each other, easing Kazuha to learn korea, easing Eunchae to still able enjoy her teenager life, and most importantly, allow member to be themself. That is very wise decision for her, and also very wise for HYBE & Source Music to accept it.

It makes sense, especially after her experience with the 48 groups. The leaders there are completely in the trenches running everything in the way a Kpop manager usually does. In fact there was one girl who was the leader of AKB 48 (the first group to be formed) and, because she was good at it, she ended up acting as the manager for every group that was formed afterwards until she was promoting as an idol while holding the title of 'general manager', in charge of like 1000 idols from all of the different 48 and 46 groups. So, even though leaders are different in Kpop groups, I could see that experience completely crushing any desire she might have had to be the leader.

It’s best when the oldest isn’t the leader as that can create a barrier between them and the rest of the members (they are already the oldest and now they have to lead too). Having someone else (obviously not the younger members so usually second oldest) be the leader creates a balance in power and relationship that is best for a group success rate.

It's because she already expected the possibility of her being designated as a leader because her age 🩵 even if it's just days apart, it's great to have the second oldest or someone middle in age members to be the leader because they could get the support that they need from their older members as long as there is balance and respect between the members just like in gidle.

HYBE has a pretty consistent pattern of not having the eldest be the leader, when it comes to their original groups. BTS-Namjoon, 4th eldest. TXT-Soobin, 2nd eldest. Enhypen-Jungwon, 2nd youngest. NewJeans-No official leader. &Team-EJ, 4th eldest, with co-leader Fuma, 2nd eldest.

Imagine is there are problems with the company, it’s practical having someone to take responsibility instead of involving all members. If the younger members have a problem it’s easier for them to come to the leader rather than talk with the company directly. The staff is not always behind every member so leaders are the one that monitoring everything or make sure the schedules are followed.

It understandable why she doesn’t feel fit to lead the group.
Group leaders honestly don’t have “serious” responsibilities, but they definitely are an emotional & guiding “pillar” for the other members. The leader is also someone who’s usually given a more mature image & sometimes becomes the face of the group.
Many leaders also lead the speeches in awards shows, lead the conversations in variety shows,& much more of the communicator than the other members.
Kkura is a great idol & she’s definitely experienced but that doesn’t mean she’s ready to lead yet. Kkura is still foreign and it means that she hasn’t learn sooo much KOREAN to the point where your basically fluent just yet. Th e amount of pressure is is to keep a mature image is also a factor too…just because she’s older than the others doesn’t mean she’s ready 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @Mm29051
      @Mm29051 Рік тому

I think they have more serious responsibilities, they are often liaise with the company, make final decisions for the group, monitor the schedules of everyone. Chaewon, specially been one of the best vocals and dancers in the group, is also capable of guiding the members with the performances.
Apart from the more technical aspects, Chaewon as a leader also give the emocional support but I think it’s Sakura the one that leads more in that part.
The members have mentioned in many occasions, Sakura is the one that holds the group together. As the more experience and older member, they go to her for advices and support. So Sakura is definitely the emocional pillar but I think she just doesn’t want the pressure of being in charge of the most technical parts and she still have to improve in her skills. And she is fluent in Korean tho

@@Mm29051 I mean sure but it really depends on what company your from 🤷🏻‍♀️ crap companies will give an idol a leader role just cuz every other group has a leader but theirs won’t a any real responsibilities.
I get where your coming from but I don’t think experience equal good leadership. For a place like HYPE I think most of the leader’s job is to be the face of the group and be the leading speaker. Of course there are extra details but like that’s the main part it seems.
For Sakura she just doesn’t seem to fit the leader role that much. She’s obviously mature & well-experienced in the idol industry but it doesn’t mean she herself could lead it alone while thinking for the other members. I feel like she can’t be under pressure much because she still needs to hown her skills more as being a J-Pop Idol is VERY different a K-pop one.
Chaewon on the other hand has shown to be a pretty good leader and I think with more experience with such a role she may become more pivotal.

@@lilithyolanda9851 i think leading a team still have some technical parts even in companies like Hybe. Just by logistics, if there are issues, someone have to be in charge, they can’t have the five members intervening. Plus Chaewon is always looking and monitoring the members performances or recording sessions.
I mean being the face of the group in public is probably the most important part, which is something I think Chaewon is perfect for but it’s also what it’s easier for us to see.
I still think Sakura leads the group in a more emocional way, just because is what the members have mention. When they talk about Sakura is always about her being the pillar of the group, the one that leads and take care of them, and they definitely have in mind her experience

@@Mm29051 yeah I think Sakura does play a more emotional supportive role for the members. I just don’t think that’s a “leader” quality. I think it feels more like Sakura being an older sister to them.

Her formative years were spent in HKT48. I doubt that she was blind to the immense pressure Sashihara Rino was under as their leader. A lot of weight also rested on Kwon Eunbi's shoulders in IZ*One. If that's not something she wants for herself, then who can blame her?

I think it is really reasonable for groups to not make eldest member as the leader since seniority in many asian cultures are quite heavy, if the eldest member is the leader of the group then jt can be hard for younger members to suggest stuff

I agree with her decision, it's not that she can't be a leader because she can but she don't want to become one for some reasons and i think one of the reason is because she knows that it will be hard for her to lead the group without someone in the members that she can lean on and can understand her fully about high responsibility of being their senior or their oldest like unnie of her who she can tell and she can talk to when things gets hard for having that high responsibility and some pressure in that position in their group. If i was Sakura, i will do the same thing she did because being a leader is a great responsibility and not only the oldest one can handle and can take that responsibility because sometimes younger ones can take it and the oldest can help them to become a great leader because they can teach the younger on how to handle high responsibility as the leader just like the oldest being the oldest in the group and had a quite high authority among the youngest members. ❤ I admire Sakura for choosing what she think is better and it becames a best decision because chaewon is really a good leader and Sakura helps her to become one of the great leader in kpop industry.❤
