Would have been my biggest if landed. What the camera did not capture, it was so big it came out of the net three times before the hook popped out! Such is fishing!
Nice video! ;) But judging from a European perspective (e.g. Norway, Sweden or Scotland), these salmon seem rather small, at Gaula or Mörrum these would be decent grilse size, but no more... Are Atlantic salmon generally a bit smaller in Labrador?
Timo there are rivers in Labrador, Quebec and New Brunswick that are famous for large salmon (25 pounds plus) but then the exchange for this is smaller number of fish. Rivers in Labrador are popular because you can catch and release significant number of fish that range in size from 6-18 pounds. The Gaula as I recall, is a very big fish river but small numbers, much like a river here such as the Restigouche. Personally I would rather catch a larger number of fish then a few big ones, but, everyone is different in what they like. Thanks for the info and question.
@@newflyfisher Definitely, I would also prefer catching many salmon over spending 3 days 12 h a day without a single tug for that one 15 kg fish. I was just wondering wether, when he said "good fish" in the vid, he meant it relative for that particular river, or in general for the area ;)
