  • Why do humans sleep? How much do we need to function effectively? How are our sleep patterns affected by artificial light? What, if anything, is accomplished by dreams? Do they have important personal meaning and provide portents, or are they just random activity of a brain left to its own devices. Why are they so hard to remember? Can we control the course of our dreams? Where do nightmares come from? New insights are emerging into the meaning of sleep and dreams.
This is a part of Glenn Wilson's series of lectures as Visiting Professor of Psychology, 2012/13.

My cat talks in his sleep. He makes those little mrrrrr-rrrp! noises, so we figure he's dreaming about watching birds.

The 25 hour circadian clock "in the bunker" was due to improperly controlling low-level illumination.
Wikipedia: "More recent research has shown that adults have a built-in day, which averages about 24 hours; indoor lighting does affect circadian rhythms; and most people attain their best-quality sleep during their chronotype-determined sleep periods."

I can't believe no one went to adjust his mic underneath his chin to his tie . He spends a great amount of time with his back to the audience and speaking in the complete opposite direction of his mic which makes it really hard to hear what he's saying . Too bad the camera spends more time filming his back & not viewing the projection screen . Seems like we don't get to see most of the slides & if we do they're viewed for a quick glance .

what kind of a joke was this 19:00 "don't use the bedroom for anything except sleeping, and perhaps sex, whether or not you've got a part in it"

Being able to afford to seems not a valid reason to be able to sleep more unless it is an apex predator.
