I wonder if they're called "Authentics" so that parents at a discount store can tell them apart from the dozens upon dozens of cheap TF knockoffs. Like it's Hasbro saying "these ain't your run-of-the-mill Deformation Robots, these are AUTHENTIC Transformers!"
Congratulations, that’s EXACTLY why they exist.
Remember, these where made to combat knockoffs.
I’d rather buy knockoffs lol
Fight knockoffs with knockoffs!
@Carl Gunderson me too
@Carl Gunderson They are sold in stores who usualy take on KOs, and providing them with something themselves undercuts to KO market.... Untill you see what they are undercutting it with.
Wait actually?!!!
Note: Authentics Barricade is supprisingly good
This.
You should see the wheeljack authentics. He’s basically WFC wheeljack with less plastic. seems like he transforms the exact same, which i find crazy
Same with soundwave i love it
Yeah, I own all of them and barricade is definitely the best.
These look like the type of toys you'd expect to find getting reviewed on Ashens' brown sofa. And then promptly placed on the wood plank to be torched.
Honestly the Bumblebee reminds me of those novelty transforming DVD cases from the first couple Bay movies than any actual transformer
The authintics Soundwave and Shockwave are actually good figures. I recommend them.
I think he actualy has the Shockwave and reviewed it, and said outside the lack of knees it's a nice toy.
@@Majinhero that was the cyber battalion shockwave.
@@Majinhero that was cyber battalion shockwave not the authinecs shockwave.
I bought the smaller Authentics Bumblebee a few years back for my nephew as a cheapo gift and the arms easily popped off of that too. You do arguably get more of our money's worth with the smaller ones honestly.
I have most of the small authentics, the bumblebee is the worst.
They're like officially sanctioned bootlegs
Bumblebeans
Mmmmmmmmm bumblebeans
"And the other Decepticons will make excellent gun fodder" That toy needs to be a background copy made by the GI Joes to trick the cons before Megs shakes it apart. Ha.
Pretty sure the only reason these were called Authentics was because at first glance they look like bootlegs. Like Hasbro is saying "Nonono these are legit! Honest!"
Back in 84, these would have been awesome. Good for lil kids.
honestly the Authentics line is fine, yeah their cheap and hollow but this is literally a budget line you find in dollar stores and convenience stores, its for people who cant regularly afford the main line stuff and certainly cant afford the high end stuff, plus I think for what's offered their actually pretty solid figures especially the Grimlock, Soundwave and Shockwave
Yeah for sure, Im kinda just starting my collection and needing to kinda stick a budget, these are fun to pad out a collection while still saving up for something nicer and bigger, some are absolute stinkers like bumblebee, but some have decently surprised me like optimus primal
I've seen these in person a few times, even had them at my old job. The Optimus Prime headsculpt is AMAZING, and it had metallic blue paint to make it look even nicer. I almost bought it off that alone... but the rest of it... I couldn't.
Problem is, if a kid over 6 or so got one of these, it might turn them away from ever wanting another Transformer again. Potential fan lost.
Whereas with a proper knockoff, even most kids understand that it's not a "real" Transformer.
What I find so disturbing about this is that Hasbro could have easily given this Megatron decent articulation, and could have kept the simple Transformation with maybe a few added steps, and it still would have less kibble than most other official Megatron's on the market, as well as a better alt mode.
About comparing this hollow plastic to mainline toys: mate, just because being stabbed in the chest is worse than being stabbed in the foot doesn't make being stabbed in the foot suddenly not suck.
It's the same with cheapening out on hollowing Transformers to the unnecessary degree they do nowadays at steeper prices. Like that Cobra Megatron toy with that goddamn hollow fusion cannon. That's just inexcusable.
You’re totally right, his statement was very off
I would never give either of those to any of the kids in my family. They're so cheap, thin and seemingly brittle, I'm convinced they'd shatter the second I'd get them home. Any kid young and dumb enough to want those instead of good ones, I'm absolutely sure they'd end up as shards sharp enough to injure them. These toys need to be chunky and solid, like Cyberverse Megatron, one which won't break if thrown against a wall. This will break if breathed on wrong!
Thanks for taking one for the team on this one. They are interesting, only because they're terrible. I kept finding myself zoning out, and counting your wii-u games, or identifying the modular lego sets in the background. 😂
I was looking at his pops lmao
Cyberverse does look like third party knock offs, but that Bumble, oh man.
So hollow, they can be used as bowls.
Mom: "You have Transformers at home."
Transformers at home:
I only have some of the small ones. And even then the reason I got them was because they were being sold where I was working at the time and my employee discount made it easier to spend money on my curiosity. And yeah they’re certainly not good.
The first authentics was Grimlock and it is a decent figure as well as the small Megatron and Starscream in robot mode
Since you said you didn't want to include these kinds of lines in Plastic Addict, I would totally be interested in more videos like this to still review them.
This is basically just a much more positive, constructive, passive-aggressive Plastic Addict episode, and I very much enjoyed this.
It's the lack of elbow and knee articulation that bothers me more than the hollowness, but I understand why they did it. $10, though? I feel like bootlegs could undercut that price for something similar, which defeats the purpose of Authentics, right?
except there are better authentics figures that are on par with RID 2015 warrior class figure in designs and articulation
@@turogamer-oi4nq Hasbro is basically saying "Big/Cheap/Posable... pick two." Titan Changers are picking big and cheap, so I at least understand why they're like that. But it just seems like there are knockoff upscaled legion class toys out there that still beat these in the cheap category.
The best authentics are the 5' Decepticons Barricade, Megatron, Starscream but his vehicle mode suffers. As for the 7' figures Soundwave, Shockwave, and Megatron are the best of those. Not touching those 10' figures the Arcee thats coming out also looks like she'll be a good figure.
this should be called "Plastic Addict Lite"
i liked the Authentics it's very unique and fun to transform
To be fair, just because these are hollow-ER, doesn't mean that modern generations are not hollow, I mean... look at Legacy's Bulk and Skids' chests!
First, there was Fatimus Prime
and now....
Welcome Flat Brick Megatron.
Not gonna lie I’m digging that tank mode.
I see these at my local Kroger that has a decent enough toy section to even have some current main line figures
Moral of the story is don't trust the system although I must say I like their mini barricade
Thank you for your sacrifice TJ
You will be hearing from my lawyer mr Omega for exposing me to such visual abuse XD
i think some of the smaller authentics are pretty interesting. I really want the barricade cause he actually looks good
Yeah you should definitely consider picking him up. He's actually a decent figure.
3:30 this is just going to be every Transformers release within about two years.
I honestly love a lot of the smaller 5” and 7” Authentics:
Barricade 5”
Grimlock 7”
Megatron 5” & 7”
Ratchet 5” - Admittedly, I love every Ratchet HasTak can be bothered to toss our way, even if this one isn’t that great
I’ve also heard good things about the 7” Shockwave, but I’ve yet to see one out in the wild.
Soundwave is the best TBH. Sure his legs are a little bit long but I think he’s the most solid figure.
@@Cappytain101 don't forget shockwave
My Wife's mom gave this megatron to my (at the time) 4 year old son as a Christmas gift in 2020. I was appalled how hollow he is. He seems so fragile and easily broken. Both my wife and I were surprised it was SO bad.. She got this toy for my son since she knows I love transformers and thought it'd be a great toy for him. Instead we took it away because we were scared it would break into sharp jagged pieces after a little bit of time of him playing with it... This kind of cheapness on Hasbro's part is unacceptable...
Did he say it? Did he say "Bumblebeans?"
You should’ve bought Authentic’s Soundwave, he’s actually a decent figure.
i have no desire to get these, but then again: i'm not a poor child. just a poor adult. I used to insult these, too, but now I understand that I've been blessed enough to afford nice things, but many families are barely making money enough for food/gas/heat, so getting anything for their children for Christmas will be a challenge, and that's why these are made...these, and bootleg flea market toys.
I did like Cyberverse mini arcee and their shiockwave, even though big shocks doesn't have any leg articulation.
The: sometimes that’s not a parent me: No it’s a child
It looks like a massively upscaled McDonald's toy
Just seeing the plastic still in the box, something about it looked like a hollow figure. I don't know if it is the appearance of the plastic, or subconsciously noticing a lack of joints.
3:28, "You, look at it!"
I went into this thinking these toys were those ones from Asia that use the Evergreen designs...
Instead it's more like a transforming Titan Heroes figure, like the ones for superheroes that shelfwarm.
I'm pretty sure I had bootleg Transformer toys as a kid that were more fun to play with.
it doesnt say authentics on the package but one quick google search and yeah, a few weeks ago i picked up transformers authentic Grimlock at family dollar, it was the least crappy looking of the five transformers in stock, the others being other voyager-ish authentics figures and a flimsy legends starscream that was obviously a retooled combiner wars seeker that turned out even worse than expected when my sister bought it, seriously like a 30% quality downgrade with truncated engineering, at least it has a separate head this time but i digress.
once i got grimlock out of the package and properly assembled, i was actually enamored with how charmingly almost not crap it was, the plastic is the toughest I've felt in years and the only hollow bit are the shoulders really, the hollow legs can be excused by the transformation, however i had to file down the post in the tail to get it to fit together, the dino chest kibble has some clearance problems with the shoulders, but the transformation and build of the figure are so robust and simple and clunky that i cant help but giggle, the good to bad ratio is all over the place and i love it, it gives me a strong feeling of "ironic joy" y'know
The small Optimus has most of his cab as backpack lol
You could donate them to the pediatrics ward of your local hospital.
Roadkill Bumblebee
You say goodbye, and I say hollow.
And the 3d printed fill pieces suddenly start flying off the shelves.
From the thumbnail, I realized that the titan changer authentics Megatron is almost the same exact thing as the rise of the beasts Titan changer Megatron
The basic size ones aren't that bad, but making them large scale was a bad idea
At least the Wild Force Megazord has elbows and a neck...
I don't know why they call them Authentics but I know I'm not adding this one to the Bumblebee Shelf.
The Alpha Class Soundwave is the best of the whole line, I got 3!!!
"why would you make it(Bumblebee) the worst one?" because you know people will buy it due to the character's popularity.
Man, these are rough. I've bought cheap knockoffs of Japanese-only combining mecha around this price that were better than these.
You seem a little tired today… me too… I think I got a cold from someone so I’ve been stuffy and coughing for a few days
The irony of it being called Authentics, only to open it up and see you have half a figure
I have on several occasions considered getting one of these, I am glad I did not spend my money on them now.
3:31 that looks like he's half of a Pretender shell!
I sense future Plastic Addict victims.
The other $10 authentics Megatron is actually pretty decent. These new ones look terrible.
The dollar general cyberverse voyager class megatron is awesome
I hate these with a passion, they flood every aisle in mexican toystores, they shelf SCORCH with how long they stay there, enough to scorch the land so that toystores rarely ever stock normal Transformers.
They should REALLY stop going for size impact, same price but half the size would allow for something more decent. Except for Bee, that's a really simple design that I'm genuinely shocked they managed to screw up so badly that I can honestly say I could do something better.
This was definitely interesting.
How can you even think of putting these in a store?
You could get a decent Deluxe for 10 bucks when I was a kid.
These Authentics are worse than the Chinese KOs you find.
At least some of the KOs are unique
I have the authentics barricade, and I like him a lot
Authentics Titan Changers
Can you also try Soundwave and Shockwave from this line...? As they're the good ones from this line.
Don't forget Barricade
Honestly, the bumblebee toys are probably the worst ones because people will buy them regardless of quality since it’s bumblebee
You can use it to hold beans.
When you turned it around and I saw it from behind for the first time I felt a mixture of shock and disgust for one second. This is worse than a McDonald's toy, and it's so massive it's even more gross. Thank god these sell for pennies, because even then I feel they're too expensive.
My issue with this video is that…Tj for the TITAN CHANGER ones. A style of figure which has been around since RID15. Imo (other then bumblebee) The Bravo and Alpha Class Authentics figures are fantastic pocket money transformers toys!
It’s as if kids don’t deserve good toys
But at least you can eat beans out of 'em!
You could just toss them at somebody you don't like
Hollow if ya hear meh…
display it with megatron running bee over lol
Plastic addict is back!
Kind off...
The alpha class megs is better, has more articulation and don't think it's as hollow, I didn't like titan changers because of how skinny they looked
I got bravo class barricade
And actually enjoy it and wanna custom it
I bought my son an Optimus Prime, he broke it in 10 minutes.
How and witch one?
@@teresagonzalez5987 I grabbed an Optimus Prime at Aldi, right shoulder ball joint snapped in less that 10 minutes. he still plays with it.....
The small ones that are voyager size to decent tbh, little desk figurines. But not that worth your time.
I have autchentics grimlock (the big one)
His robot mode sucks
But his dino mode is so goofy that i love it
it looks like a cheapo knockoff, it's just better sculpt in the face and abs. the veicles somewhat better, but hell.
I have absolutelly no idea WHO this is supposed to be targeted towhard
Man, I've got dollar store TFs that are less hollow and cheap-looking than that.
What a waste of plastic, and a smear on the name of Transformers. Hasbro shouldn't have bothered.
I've seen the Optimus toys from this line and my guess as to why the Bumblebee toys suck is because they know they're going to sell well regardless of how good they are, because Prime's toys also suck and both him and Bumblebee are the two most known and recognizable Transformers. If you look at figures of characters that are either less known or less recognizable by the general public (like Soundwave and Megatron, respectively), their toys compare a lot better.
Bootleg levels of hollowness
If aren't going to keep them, donate them charity.
This video is almost a Plastic Addict episode! That’s how bad this line is!
It amazes me that toys aimed at kids are so thin and panelly. Even if it's cheap, surely you want the kids to have something big and chunky to mess with. It probably feels better in their hands, and it will probably last longer than an hour of play time.
Not everyone has the money for bigger ones. These were basically made to combat knockoffs.
Looks like a cake mold
